  LiveTV error message
Posted by: coolumbo2 - 2015-05-05, 07:38 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I'm using latest NextPVR 3.4.8 on my Windows 8.1, AMD A10 7850k /A88x chipset PC.
My tuner card TBS 6991 SE is installed properly. No other tuner application is installed or running.
Channel-Scan works fine.

When accessing "Live TV" always the following message appears: "The tuner you were using was required for a recording.
Would you like to switch to watching a recording, or exit back to the menu."

I have no recording in progress nor do I have scheduled any EPG update during this time.

LiveTV is not working. I have attached the log's and screenshot of this error message.

I have no idea what could be the resaon. I tried already what is mentioned in the forum about similar error message from other users, like disabling the EPG-update or choosing a time late at night for the EPG update.
Thanks for any hint or help.

VLC 'plugin no longer supported' in Chrome/Firefox
Posted by: FirstTeamOPS - 2015-05-05, 04:34 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (2)

I tried to use the "Watch Live" option this weekend and was met with "This plug-in is not supported" in Chrome.

Long story short, I had to re-enable NPAPI plug-in support. (In Chrome) chrome://flags/#enable-npapi click "Enable" and restart Chrome.

Soon, it appears, that option will no longer work as Chrome (and Firefox) are removing NPAPI plug-in support all together, which includes VLC. There are no plans to update the VLC plugin at this time and they suggest moving to HTML5.

I figured I would post the information here as NEWA relies on VLC.

https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php...11#p422611 Wrote:...
VLC inside Chrome would be theoretically possible using Native Client. But that is a large development effort tha the VideoLAN foundation cannot take care of. A very generous sponsor would be required. Even then I am afraid time is running out: https://www.chromium.org/developers/npapi-deprecation

tl;dr: If you need audio/video playback inside the browser, I can only advise that you start transition to HTML5. In a few months, it will be too late. Better yet, use the VLC or a LibVLC-based application on the desktop.

'Launch external player' should theoretically still work in NEWA. That option never worked correctly for as long as I can remember. "Watch live" using the browser plug-in worked just fine.

Subtitle Behaviour when playing TS file with SRT containing Colour Codes
Posted by: rcwhite - 2015-05-04, 09:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

When I play a TS file with an SRT file in the same folder, using the "[videofile].default.srt" nomenclature, it plays the subtitles automatically. However if the SRT file contains display colour codes (e.g. <font color="#ffff00">) it displays the code and still shows the text in white, rather than converting the tagged text to the colour needed.

If however I take the same TS file and convert it to the Matroska MKV format, including an identical SRT file as the default, then NextPVR displays all the subtitles and colours correctly.

Is there a way to make it work properly without having to convert to MKV?

Background in case you are wondering why - I take recordings from satellite German, French or Spanish channels. I grab the subtitles, and with the help of the free "SubTitleEdit" I manipulate the subtitles so that I have, in one SRT file, the foreign language in one colour on top, and the English, in another colour, underneath, thus getting two languages on screen at the same time. My wife, who can speak these languages pretty well, enjoys the foreign version while I (linguistic ignoramus!) can still watch the programmes thanks to the English subs (sometimes poor Google translations of the foreign language, but I can get the gist, and it provides additional amusement at times). We have found the colours an essential aid to quickly focus on the right text as it flashes up.

Any thoughts, anyone? I already have a solution of sorts, but I'd like to avoid the step of converting to MKV if possible.

No video or audio on playback after upgrade
Posted by: Luckerman - 2015-05-03, 03:19 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (25)

After upgrading to 3.4.8, video playback in NPVR is black with no audio, true also for WMP. VLC, WinTV7 and my NMT fed by NPVR all play back properly. Files (.ts) recorded before the upgrade play back properly in NPVR and WMP. I've done a re-install (manually removing Public and Program Files folder leftovers) and also tried changing decoders and renderers, to no effect. Attached is the NPVR.log, where the older file played back but not the newer (S00E00). Can anybody tell me what I am missing?

Schedules Direct - Missing EPG data (SIGN OFF)
Posted by: gEd - 2015-05-02, 12:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (33)

Greetings

I just noticed that several channels are showing SIGN OFF instead of the programme data. Specifically, BB1LONDON, BBC2HD and ITV1LONDON.

I have a slight suspicion it is when the region specific broadcast ends and reverts back to the national broadcast (e.g. BBC 1 LONDON reverts to BB1HD) as in 2 examples, I see SIGN OFF after regional news but this is not the case in all scenarios. Also, I don't see this with CHANNEL4 or CHANNEL5 which have no regional variations.

I tried several different SD providers (Virgin, BskyB, Freeview) but they all have the same problem.

When I revert those channels back to XMLTV, it is fine.

Any ideas?

Screenshots attached.

Pause and Resume Recording live tv
Posted by: mjccox - 2015-05-01, 11:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Just wondering ... Is there a way to pause recording as you're watching ... To clarify... When I was a kid recording movies from tv on a VCR. I would push pause during the commercials, then pause when the show came back on to resume recording. Can anything like this be done?

  TBS-6982 DVB-S2 card under ESXi
Posted by: liteswap - 2015-05-01, 06:13 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

This might prove useful to someone.

I've acquired a working TBS-6982 DVB-S2 card (after much shouting to the manufacturer about how the original didn't work - but that's another story) and attempted to get it working under VMware ESXi. I passed it through to my test NextPVR server virtual machine, which recognised it, loaded the drivers - and then couldn't do anything with it. Basically, it didn't acquire satellites. Shame, as I was hoping to leave it plugged into my always-on NAS but the fallback position is to plug it into my PVR v2.

So I then plugged it into an ASRock mini-ITX motherboard (which will form the heart of my next PVR) and it just worked fine with NextPVR, channels acquired, playing HD video, the lot.

Moral of the story? It doesn't work in a VMware VM. I hope that's useful for someone...

Installation guide for Samsung and LG
Posted by: fred250 - 2015-05-01, 03:24 PM - Forum: NextPVR Web Smart TV app - Replies (12)

These are the steps to install the app using the Smart TV apploader tool:

  • Download and unzip http://fred250.ownit.nu/public/smarttv/S...loader.zip.

  • Run SmartTVApploader.exe on your Next PVR server/computer (you may need to run as administrator).

  • Use the tab NextPVRWeb to install the app to be served from the NextPVR inbuilt Web server (think NEWA) rather than installed locally on the TV set.
Hit the green button for the latest stable version.

If successful you should be able to navigate the NextPVR UI using an ordinary html5 enabled browser on address http://your-server-ip:8866/touch3/client3.html after entering the correct IP address in settings.
This screenshot is showing NextPVR in a desktop Google Chrome browser.
Accessing the app this way is experimental and showing debugging information along with some navigation buttons.
Also video playback is currently not supported but you may use it to manage your recordings or view EPG.

  • For Samsung
Using the Samsung tab, choose to install the app “NextPVRWeb Launcher”. This is a small program that connects with the NextPVR app you installed in the previous step.
Use the "user application synchronization" procedure to install the app onto the TV. Your specific IP address to use for synchronization will be visible in the tool.
If your are not familiar with "user application synchronization"a quick Internet search should give you the necessary details which also slightly differs between year-models.

  • For LG NetCast, WebOS Not supported
Use the LG tab in the tool to install the launcher app onto the USB memory stick you need to put into the TV.
Don't forget that you also need to have an account and be logged in on the TV or you won't see the app from the USB stick.
(Read TV's Electronic user guide - LG SMART Function/To Use LG Smart World)
It may take some time (5 min or so) after you inserted the USB stick till the app shows, it has to do with LG doing some checks over the internet.

    Time to run the app

  • Start “NextPVRWeb Launcher” on the TV. Enter the IP address for your NextPVR server.

  • After a few seconds you should see the settings and options page.

  • Enter the IP address for your NextPVR server and choose to connect.

You are up and running!

Enter zero three times (0 0 0) to get into settings again if needed.
This is from a desktop browser. It will look slightly different on a Samsung or LG device.

New version update is very simple:
  • Nothing to download, just start the SmartTVApploader.exe from before and hit the green button on the NextPVRWeb tab.

This will update your NextPVR server with the latest version of the app. There are no update or installation steps on the TV itself.
If you wish to install any other version, choose from list “available versions” and hit the gray button.

  • Power cycle your Smart TV device to make sure the app is reloaded.
Update Done!

/Fred

IE 8 showing "Cassini web server error 400"
Posted by: christheman - 2015-05-01, 10:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Under normal circumstances I would just ditch IE8, but another one of my apps is hard-wired to use it (no, I am not the one who hard-wired it). So I need for IE8 to be able to pull up NEWA again. FF29 on the same machine works like a dream. I don't use Chrome, so no idea on that, but it would be irrelevant for me anyhow.

In particular I am now getting a error 400 "/Application" message when I try and pull up the SearchResults.aspx page and then click on the Table View option. It basically looks like it is timing out. The default Tree View takes a while to come up, but is of no use to me...

I tried CCleaner and then uninstalling and reinstalling IE8 to no avail. Same error. Not only is this consistently happening now, but in fact I never had it happen in the past two years quite like this.

IE8 works as usual everywhere else I checked. It is just slow with NPVR/NEWA.

Any thoughts on settings or other things to check? The actual NPVR/NEWA machine seems to be fine on these pages using IE6 BTW (the crummy version that came with Windows XP).

My problems are with a laptop that I only use to schedule programs via NEWA (but it is not running NPVR or running as a client.)

Any outside resources change recently?
