Schedules Direct 90 day free trial offer.
Posted by: rkulagow - 2015-04-30, 03:56 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (3)

[Schedules Direct 2016-08-12 edit: The 90-day trial offer is now only available to subscribers in Australia or New Zealand as we begin offering our service there. Thanks to everyone who assisted in getting the service functional outside of the United States and Canada. We still have the default 7-day trial period if you'd like to try Schedules Direct.]

Hi, I work for Schedules Direct.

Recently, we've been expanding our international reach and we now have data for countries outside of the United States and Canada. Our typical trial subscription offers 7 days of free service in the United States and Canada, but if you're in a country where we weren't before and we now have data for your area, we're offering a 3-month demo for the first 50 users that contact us to give us an opportunity to show you that we can provide a valuable service. The data outside North America may not be perfect, but we'll work with you to resolve any issues.

We've coordinated with sub to make it easier to link scanned data to our schedules, so if you're a DVB-C, S or T user it should be fairly easy to link "what you scanned" with "what we have" to simplify the mapping. If we don't already have a mapping for your lineup, then that's something that we can work on; you would send us the raw scan and we'd correlate it on the server. If it takes a few iterations then your trial period won't start until the lineup is accurate.

What does it cost once the trial is over?
We charge USD $25/year for the schedule data; our last price increase from USD $20 to $25 was in September 2011, so our subscription fees have been low and stable. This includes multiple daily updates, up to 25 days of schedule data (dependent on the provider having a schedule that far into the future), coverart, icons, and graphics, as well as a single point of contact for schedule, program or lineup issues. If you don't want to commit to a year after your demo is over, we also offer 2-month subscriptions for USD $6.

At this time, we have data for the following countries:

Region:North America
United States
Canada

Region:Europe
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Great Britain
Sweden

Region:Latin America
Argentina
Belize
Brazil
Chile
Columbia
Costa Rica
Ecuador
Guatemala
Guyana
Honduras
Mexico
Panama
Peru
Uruguay
Venezuela

Region:Caribbean
Anguila
Antigua/Barbuda
Aruba
Bahamas
Barbados
Bermuda
Bonaire, Saba, St. Eustatius
British Virgin Islands
Cayman Islands
Curacao
Dominica
Dominican Republic
Grenada
Jamaica
Puerto Rico
Saint Martin
Saint Vincent / Grenadines
St. Kitts and Nevis
St. Lucia
Trinidad and Tobago
Turks and Caicos

If you'd like to give us a try, please send me an email at rkulagow@gmail.com with your country and postal code. We'll let you know which providers we have data for in your postal code, and what the lineup and program data looks like before you even sign up for an account at the Schedules Direct website. If the sample data we send you looks good, then we'll send you a coupon code via email which you may apply to your account to begin the 90 day free trial.

  System Tray Icon
Posted by: itgreen9@gmail.com - 2015-04-30, 02:30 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Can someone explain what the difference in the NPVR tray icon means. I know when the "n" is red it's recording. I am assuming when the "n" is white it means it is on and idle. But what does it mean when the "n" is white and there are 3 dots in each corner?

Recording Issue After Updating to 3.4.8
Posted by: PVRDon - 2015-04-29, 07:41 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Version 3.3.8 was solid but, after updating to 3.4.8, I am now having problems recording some SD channels. The HD channels seem to record O.K.

I completely replaced my npvr.db3 with an empty copy, rebooted, and rebuilt my device and channels configuration.

I have attached two sets of logs - one with a good record, and one with a bad record. These were created after the rebuild.

Also, I noticed that the ndigitalhost.log seems to be filling up with a lot of "No additional EPG events available" messages.

Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I will go back to 3.3.8.

Regards,

  Sat or cable?
Posted by: Grampz - 2015-04-29, 07:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I am looking into Direct TV as Time Warner now requires a digital converter box for every TV. More remotes, yuck! I know that there is a Roku channel for Time Warner and Direct TV. I am curious about which ties in best with my NPVR HTPC. Also, Google fiber is growing quick here in the Kansas City area, but will be a while before it reaches my remote area. Direct TV is offering a deal 30 bucks cheaper than TWC. I have an HP usb ir for my htpc harmony remote, but no irblaster to communicate with other devices. I use Plex to stream to the Roku...

Ideas?

[Request] Better integration with Emby (former Media Browser)
Posted by: Damstas - 2015-04-29, 02:06 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (2)

Now that NextPVR provides artwork support for Schedules Direct, I think that there should also be a better integration with Emby. Emby provides a very nice layout for these artworks and sections for ongoing and upcoming shows. There is a NPVR plugin in Emby, but it doesn't automatically get new artworks unless you manually click them in NPVR and refresh the Live TV guide.

First picture shows that you need to individually click shows in NPVR.

Second pic shows how it should look like. This picture is from EmbyTV.

Disadvantages of Running Recording Service as User Account
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2015-04-29, 08:45 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I have just changed the recording service to use a user account so that I can use the Archive function to move recordings I want to keep to the server.
The Computer boots direct to this Administrator account with no logon or password required.

Are there any disadvantages of not using the Local System Account?

How to quickly get rid of the hover bar at the bottom?
Posted by: ThankYou - 2015-04-29, 08:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

1, everytime I move the mouse to third bottom of the screen, there's a big bar at the bottom that I don't really care for.

Can I disable it or quickly make it go away? at the moment I have to wait for it to go away and it's covering the 1/3 bottom of the screen

2, Sometimes at random, the Now Playing layer comes up unwarranted, while pressing Esc works to make it go away, pressing esc twice kills the live stream and brings me back to menu, is there a better way to disable this altogether perhaps?

Thank you

Colussus captures missing a lot of data
Posted by: theason - 2015-04-29, 03:56 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (24)

I have a pair of Colussus cards in my system; capturing from a pair of cable boxes, and I'm noticing that some of the recordings are getting written in a rather corrupt state. I know from reading over the years, that NPVR just does a copy from the card to the disk without much processing, so I'd love to have anybody chime in and help me see if I can find where the issue might be.

Here's what I typically see...one of these recorded flawlessly, the other's all are way too small for 30 minutes of data off the Colossus.

The files do have contents to them, but it's almost like the frame markers are all set in the file but the actual frames may not have always been written. A quick run through VideoReDo's quick stream fix makes a file that skips around like a flea on a hot plate.

There's just not enough frames to make up 30 minutes of video...

I got desperate last week, and re-installed windows and everything completely fresh on my box.

Any experiences to share? Something jump out in the logs enclosed?

  Issue after upgrade to 3.4.8
Posted by: riowilson - 2015-04-29, 12:00 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi - New to posting, long time lurker. I had what *appeared* to be a seamless upgrade to 3.4.8 but now finding some recordings are not actually recording, but others are. The ones that don't record seem to log a .ts file of about 10 Mb in size. Others record fine. Anyone have suggestions? If it helps, in the attached log files - the "Wake up Wisconsin" from this morning 4/28 recorded fine. Deadliest Catch at 6P this afternoon - not so much. Any advice appreciated.

  Issuing VACUUM on npvr's database?
Posted by: Spark - 2015-04-28, 11:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I was just curious, have other people tried to vacuum their NPVR database npvr.db3?

The database was compacted using VACUUM statement.
Before compacting:
Page Count = 39045
Database Size = 39982080 bytes
After compacting:
Page Count = 532
Database Size = 544768 bytes

Nice cleanup. Smile
