I looked at my recordings and everything was missing that is located on my NAS machine. I am assuming they disappeared when I had the box off for some routine maintenance. So I tried restoring from a recent backup that I had made but nothing would import. I got a No Recordings Imported dialog. I scanned the logs and if I had to hazard a guess, I would say that it stopped the import process once it hit a recording that had since been deleted.
Two questions, how do I get three months worth of recordings imported back in and is there a way to stop Next PVR from deleting recordings that are missing automatically. I like that it does it but maybe a prompt confirming it first.
I have been working on getting digital over the air captions. Tried different video decoders. Ffdshow, Lav, and Microsoft decoders. No captions. Arcsoft decoder, no picture. AMD, video would not always start. I am using Main Concept decoder now. Sometimes the captions are fine and sometimes they are scrambled. Recordings about half the time are scrambled. Just checked live TV and 9 of 10 are good. The scrambled show was fine on another TV. I tried different tuners, no difference.
Has anybody had better luck.
I have multiple DVB-S (Freesat) & DVB-T (Freeview) tuners in my setup.
I have setup a recurring recording for the same program that is on different tuners.
Both recurring recordings are set exactly the same, All Episodes & All Recordings.
In my settings I have unticked 'Avoid duplicates whenever possible' & have
checked config.xml (<AllowDuplicates>true</AllowDuplicates>)
The TVGuide only shows one pending recording in red & the record menu
only shows one recording pending.
From the logs it looks like it is avoiding duplicates.
The recurring recording is 'Have I Got a Bit More News For You' on BBC One

Some weeks ago adding a new program to the nPVR schedule failed to get the program listed in scheduled recordings. This happened repeatedly with the program, The Good Wife and the program following on the same channel, CSI. I thought it odd as those were scheduled to air at 9:30p-10:30p and 10:30p-11:30p. Then I found that The Good Wife was pushed back a half hour due to a sports event overtime. Charter Communications didn't bother to air CSI. That was 2 Sundays ago. Yesterday, again The Good Wife was aired a half hour late and CSI was not aired. I had found out what I thought was the reason that scheduling wouldn't show the programs ready to record ahead of time. I went to The Good Wife and changed the parameters to one time program and it's date/time changed to red indicating it would be recorded. Also I added 31 minutes post-program padding. I was pretty sure the problem had to do with Charter not indicating that the program was New. Then just now I went to add The Newsroom and I'm getting the same failure. It's a first run Season 3 Episode 1 and it wouldn't schedule as only record new episodes on the channel. Since they're going to air what looks like all season 2 before the first episode of season it means that I'll have to schedule each episode I want separately.
I have NextPVR 3.2.9.
So, does this seem like Charter not providing the correct information? My Tivo gets the same wrong recording time as Schedules Direct but does record the timeslot as only New episodes while nPVR fails.
That would only happen if Tivo is getting different information than Schedules Direct.
Charter offers two digital lineups in this area and both are identical for the described programs.
I have several manual recordings set for M-F. Sometimes NPVR stops recording and when I l look at pending recordings there are none showing even though I have a schedule defined. As a workaround, in the past, I would open npvr, select a recording, hit update and then hit save without changing anything, this would solve the problem. Now when I try to update any existing manual recording, the title changes for 4-6 M-F (for example) to None and it drops off the Pending list. Maybe this is a bug in the new version I recently downloaded? It is very annoying if the update is broken, because setting up another manual recording is a pain, because there is no easy way to get to the channel I want to record, I have to scroll through the channels with the arrow key which takes a long time. Please help.
Basically im looking for a solution for playback on media players other than a pc
I have tried many different players now and skipping ts files seems to trip most of them up in different ways.I am not a fan of having to transcode but I see no other option.
What I need to achieve is
Needs to be quick
file size doesnt worry me (don't like compression square black boxes annoy me)
Time line needs to be correct (raspberry pi shows all sorts of sizes means skipping is bad after half way samsung tv/bluray similar)
File name needs to be the same so comskip will work(dont want auto cut as its not always perfect)
Hi - I get this popup Unhandled exception message with a "Continue" button when I click on TV Listings in the main menu of NextPVR.
When I click TV Recordings, the background of the menu just blinks and nothing happens.

Whenever I use Picture-in-Picture I find myself thinking that the large inset size isn't quite large enough, and the small size is so tiny as to be useless. I imagine others have different opinions. I assume you have some sort of scaling factors hard-coded to define the two sizes of PiP screens... perhaps you could expose those in config.xml so the users could tweak the sizes?
Similarly, I like having the PiP window in the lower-right, at least for NFL Football, but it defaults to the upper-right and doesn't remember that I moved it once I exit NextPVR.exe (I have no mouse connected so the only way to move it is to remote in to the system with VNC, which requires getting up from the couch!). Could you add a setting such as <PiPDefaultPosition>UR/LR/UL/LL</PiPDefaultPosition>?
Both of these would be requests for 3.4, not something I'd expect to be implemented in a 3.3.8 patch.
I have a challenge with OTA EPG update being unreliable. (May be coincidence but seems to have got a lot worse since update to 3.3.8). It used to happen once every couple of weeks, now its happening every other day
Some days I get a full weeks EPG for all my mapped channels. Some days some of the channels have one or two listings and then nothing after that.
I have a selection of channels which are DVBT (FreeView) and some which are DVBS (Freesat) and some which are both.
If I look at the logs I might see 250 listings for say CBS Reality on one day then 20 the day afterwards (i.e. the listings are incomplete on the 2nd day).
On channels with both DVBT and DVBS I may see 120 listings for Channel 4 HD from DVBT but a different figure when it scans DVBS. If the first figure is 120 and the second one is say 6...I only see 6 listings on the listings page.
What's the logic that's applied to update the EPG when a channel exists in both DVBT and DVBS?
What would cause the channel listing from Freesat to be so erratic?
I don't think I have any signal strength / Quality issues on Freesat as recordings and the separate feed to the TV are all fine,
Log of typical EPG updates attached. (updates at 02:30)
I had a thought today. My soundbar has a protection built in that delays sound for 2 seconds. The intention is to protect the sound bar from high input sources when the volume is turned way up. The result is that everytime a commercial comes on or the sound is interrupted I miss hearing the first couple seconds of the commercial/show. This wasn't a problem with old analogue signals as the generic noisiness of the signal kept the sound bar from triggering the protection.
With the advent of digital connections in my setup (HDMI) the "silence" is complete and the interruption of sound happens at inconvenient times. I get around the problem by having vlc play a 20Hz to 20,000Hz sweep repeatedly at a very low volume level (2%). Works beauty but I must restart vlc after every reboot, which is once a night.
Can Npvr have a module that would do this and a switch in the Settings - Decoders section that could turn it on and off?
