  Best client
Posted by: CORRUPT27 - 2013-08-28, 09:24 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

HI guys,

I have been looking for the best client for the NPVR. I dont want another PC running. I was hoping for a good android tv box. The features i would like is:
1. access live stream from NPVR
2. PLEX
3. XBMC
4. NETFLIX
5. HBOGO

The most important of course is NPVR. Even though they arent expensive i cant afford to buy a $100 box that doesnt work. So i was hoping that someone already had experience with this.

thank you for the help.

  Question about recordings
Posted by: los93sol - 2013-08-28, 12:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I went through the public npvr folder and found several web services, but not the one I'm looking for. When I open recordings on my client (XBMC), I see an entry in the npvr web.log that GetRecordingsList was called. I am in search of that specific web service to make a few modifications to it for my setup. I have investigated my DVR and figured out how to call web services on the DVR to get the recordings from it and initiate playback. What I'd like to do is modify npvr to list the recordings on my DVR and when a client clicks one to playback, forward that request onto my DVR to kick the playback off. If you're wondering why not just let npvr handle recordings, well, I have 2 tuners in the dvr and only a single tuner available on the PC from the DVR so it really maximizes the content I can record and recording directly will yield higher quality recordings so it's two-fold, quantity and quality. I have services available on the box to manage recordings as well so once I have basic playback working, that will be the next piece I will be looking at. Any point in the right direction for where to look in the code is greatly appreciated, and if there is a viable way to make this a solution for other users that can be rolled back into mainline code, I'm obviously all for that as well.

  NEWA Web Services
Posted by: psycik - 2013-08-28, 01:05 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (31)

So I've been playing with a Plex Channel to read from the NEWA web services (I guess a similar principal to X-NEWA_ that mvallevand wrote.

Ideally I'd like any transcoding do be done at the plex side - this is being it knows the capabilities of the client requesting a video and will transcode the video accordingly.

I'm just trying to get any video to work...before trying to tackle the web services (in python - of which my knowledge is pretty low).

I grabbed a download link (which seems to return an m3u) - and then took the URL from inside this.

I've make a plex channel that has this direct video URL

Code:
http://pvr.lan:8866/public/download.aspx?rid=_wEC3Qc*&path=_wFl&mode=1

So now I'm trying to get plex to transcode this, and there's been a bit of to-ing and fro-ing but have now come up upon this error
Code:
Length: 0 Type: video/vnd.dlna.mpeg-tts Content length for unknown type video/vnd.dlna.mpeg-tts is invalid - aborting

Seems plex is reporting the stream is 0 length (or something else is happening) - do you know if the response to the download request includes the length?

Are there any other options to me? A straight HTTP download? or a streamed download (not quite sure what I'm asking for here).

My final option would be to transcode it at newa - but then it would probably end up with a secondary transcode at the plex end depending on the client.

  EPG Update Options
Posted by: squiggie - 2013-08-26, 10:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Good afternoon everyone. First let me say that the resources on the wiki and here are great. I've found answers to the majority of my issues by searching. However the one issue that seems to be the most elusive is how to update EPG information using DVBGuide. I'm struggling here and am looking for some direction.

I understand that I will need to use dvbguide to grab the information from the channel I want and them mux them together. What I'm having issues with is actually using dvbguide and the documentation isn't terrible but a bit confusing. I'm issuing the following command per the wiki instructions

Code:
dvbguide -fX -aC -c193000 -e1800 -s6950 -oc:\DVBCollector\DVBC-EPG.xml
and I'm getting the following error. Error - NIT not found. Now as I understand it, I'll need to provide the frequency per channel that I wish to grab data from correct? Also, if so, how do I find the frequency per channel that is right? I can look at the FCC.gov site and get the frequency for all my local stations, or I can use the HDHomeRun Config GUI to look at the frequency for the channels, but I'm not sure really if I need to do all that. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I looked into xmltv and that looked quite complicated as well. I also don't want to pay for this, if there is a free way to get it, so schedules direct is a very last option.

  Search Not Working
Posted by: SilverTiger - 2013-08-26, 02:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Running NextPVR 2.6.2 on Windows 8. I have the "TV Listings" plugin. All is fine except I cannot use the standard "Search" command. It comes up and I can click on a letter in the first column which will populate the second column, but when I try to select anything in the second column, it just goes back to the top of the list. Doesn't seem possible for me to scroll the second column. Either I REALLY don't know what I'm doing, or something is not working. I have not yet tried the "Search Lite" plugin. Any ideas? I could not find a reasonably new post about this, so it may be specific to me for some reason.

  issues after Windows updates?
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2013-08-24, 11:32 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Hi all;

I'd been running (the previous version to 2.6.2) fine on a rather bare-bones Win7. I ran available Windows updates last week, and the old version would not longer run. I assumed it was something related to the updates, decided to give the 2.6.2 a try.

The 2.6.2 installer would not install, broke at line calling the installer's .exe --update

I moved my old directory to NPVR-dead (the only thing I really care about is the recordings library), ran the installer again, no change (but even though the binary fails to install it still creates the NPVR directory and installs recording service etc).

I rip everything out using NPVR's native uninstaller. reboot. Rip out all the reg keys that contain "NPVR" that the uninstaller did not uninstall. reboot. Try what should be a totally clean install now of the 2.6.2, still fails. Same point.

If there's any logging happening I sure don't see it.

WinTV works great. Hauppauge 1600.

No Antivirus running on the system.

Any next steps or ways to invoke the installer .exe so that I get logging?
--> the 2.5.9 installer is not longer at the link in that announcement, can someone let me know a location for that build? I'll try it again. Thanks!

Thanks!

Is there a way to force interlaced flag on live TV?
Posted by: siliconaudio - 2013-08-24, 06:28 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I watch SD content over DVB-S broadcast from FreeView NZ. I find that the cyberlink MPEG2 decoder (and others) seems to jump in and out of de-interlacing. I did find a setting in FFDSHOW that forces interlacing on, and that solved the problem, but I much prefer the video quality of the cyberlink decoder.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to force the interlaced flag on NPVR's live TV stream so that the cyberlink decoder deinterlaces everything?

Cheers,
Bill.

  DirecTV channel changing app
Posted by: los93sol - 2013-08-23, 07:05 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (5)

I still haven't gotten my setup working, but I do have an application for remote NextPVR clients when your using a DirecTV receiver to feed NextPVR. I saw a lot of solutions like setting the channel changer to an executable and piping the channel number to EventGhost and handling it from there, but everything I saw seemed like a lot of extra work when DirecTV receivers have IP control built right into them so I wrote a quick app that can receive the channel number from NextPVR and sends it to the relevent receiver. It's quick and painless, no crazy setup. If there is an interest for it please post here and I'll host it for download somewhere with a quick start guide.

Can't get NPVR to work in timeshift mode via XBMC plugin
Posted by: patpend - 2013-08-23, 07:00 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (4)

I've read the forum and puzzled over this for days. NPVR works fine EXCEPT when I set the XBMC plugin to timeshift under the Advanced tab. Then I get the Tuner no longer available message. Is there any fix for this problem? I'm running XBMC 12.2 on an Acer Reveo and the NPVR backend is on an XP computer. I am using a Hauppauge WinTV-USB single ASTC tuner.
