Set-top box but scan does not find channel 3
Posted by: telii1 - 2013-03-07, 02:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I am trying to setup my device an ATI TV Wonder 650, old but still works. I am coming through a set-top box so all I need it to find is channel 3 but it does not find anything. I know it is working because Media Center finds channel 3. Also, how do I get my xmltv.xml file with my channels imported. I used mc2xml.exe and the file has been built maybe I am placing it in the wrong directory. Maybe I need to have the device setup first. I have attached the logs.

Hauppauge HD-PVR "unable to find available capture device"
Posted by: msibbald - 2013-03-07, 02:37 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I am new to NextPVR.

-I am currently using Windows Media Center on Windows 8.
-I have 2x HD PVR's attached to Shaw Direct Satellite service.
-I have dvblink for HDPVR installed in order to get this to work.

I am trying to install NextPVR on the same computer. The plan is to use it with XBMC eventually.

I get this error when trying to watch any channel. "unable to find available capture device"
I have the latest patches installed.
Attached are my logs.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot?

  SchedulesDirect not updating automatically
Posted by: rtangwai - 2013-03-07, 12:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (38)

I'm using 2.5.5 (because of the live-TV hang in 2.5.9) with a HD-PVR to record and SchedulesDirect to provide EPG data. Recently I noticed the EPG data wasn't updating automatically. It updates fine if I do it manually. Since SchedulesDirect support is baked into NextPVR natively I am unsure - does it call a batch file similar to when you use MC2XML? I was using MC2XML for a while, but the problems with Microsoft's EPG data over Christmas made me switch over to a subscription with SchedulesDirect.

Since I had MC2XML working well enough before, does it make sense to switch back to it and tell it to use the SchedulesDirect EPG data?

  Updateepg.bat not running automatically
Posted by: Graham_Shepherd - 2013-03-06, 09:38 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (20)

Hi

I've just recent set up a new configuration of nPVR on a Windows 7 64 bit pc.

All seems fine so far and I am using DVB-S2 tuners which I have tuned and mapped ok.

I have configured DVBGuide to produce my XMLTV file which works just fine.

I have my "UpdateEPG.bat" file in /scripts and this works when I run this manually (ie double click on the batch file) and my nPVR TV Guide is populated ok.

However, it does not run automatically from within nPVR at the time scheduled in Misc2 settings, nor does it run when I click on "Update EPG" from the "settings>channels" tab.

I do get a popup dialogue box which suggests that it is running "UpdateEPG.bat" & "checking for XMLTV listings" but nothing seems to change and the timestamp on my XMLTV output file does not update.

I guess that I've missed something obvious (I've checked spellings and path names)! Can you offer a pointer please? Is doesn't seem to be a permissions problem and I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to solve this.

Thanks

Graham

  ImageGrabLite daily rules
Posted by: ttfitz - 2013-03-06, 09:38 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (16)

Okay, so I'm building a new system to replace our cable company DVR, so I've started using NPVR to record some of my daughter's shows, and wonder how IGL decides to use "daily rules" on programs. She has me record the Ellen Degeneres show, TMZ, and American Idol. IGL is unable to rename Ellen or TMZ, citing "no episode data", and when it renamed American Idol, it did so, "Using daily renaming rules".

So, wondering how this gets done. IGL logs attached.

Thanks.

Crash in module mscorwks.dll while auto EPG update at 2:00AM
Posted by: hoborg - 2013-03-06, 09:32 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hi.
I noticed my EPG is missing in nPVR, so i went to LOG and found:

2013-03-06 02:03:40.624 [DEBUG][12] Async stop taking way too long
2013-03-06 02:03:40.624 [DEBUG][12] Stop() appeared to have failed. Exiting...

I think it is causing a .NET crash acording event viewer (LOG below)

In event viewer, i noticed two crashs apear nearly all days at 2:0x

If i run EPG update manually, there is no problem.

I am on Win7x64 and USB tuner Evolve mars (no problems at all with it).

Ideas? Smile

  Add digital channels?
Posted by: dardack - 2013-03-06, 04:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I can't seem to figure out how to add digital channels. The scan doesn't detect them all.

Windows Media Center Scans detects more. And in media center adding channels manually I get 2-3 more.

  nPVR device setup
Posted by: Whymet - 2013-03-05, 10:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi, I'm trying to setup nPVR but am having problems. I go to devices and then device setup. Device is enabled. Common interface is none. I type in my country and region. Nothing appears under device channels so I hit scan and then my computer crashes. I am using windows 8. Any suggestions how to get nPVR to run properly? Thanks.

  Transcoding
Posted by: eds72 - 2013-03-05, 05:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I think I am up to speed on the above subject in that there is really no way to "transcode" NPVR recordings, but immediate conversion is possible. I think my desired workflow is probably outside the realm of possibility, but I'm going to inquire anyway.

First off, let me cover why I want the recordings in a different format. In a nutshell, I cannot reliably stream the mpeg2 transport streams that are delivered by my carrier (Comcast) to wireless devices. While I do have wired connections available at my primary viewing locations (large TVs/computers), it would be nice to have the ability to watch recorded content on our tablets, phones, etc. from time to time. I can achieve roughly a 50% reduction in file size and bitrate by converting to mpeg4, which streams very nicely over my wireless network.

I could obviously create a post processing script that would immediately convert and delete the original recording, or run some sort of batch process to do it overnight. It appears that NPVR will pick this up seamlessly. This would probably work well for me 80+% of the time, maybe more. The hole I do see is that there will be a period of time during which I could run into issues with timing. Specifically, what if I want to start watching a show 30 minutes after it started? In theory I could start watching the .ts, but what would happen if the post processing script concluded while I was watching the .ts? I suppose I could have the post-processing script just do the conversion, and if I knew I was in this situation I could be sure to view the .ts. The post processing script would not delete the .ts. I could then have an overnight process run that would look for any .ts that had already been converted and blast them. I think that would work for NextPVR?

While I think my solution is viable, it seems a little fragile with regard to timing. I just want to confirm that someone hasn't come up with a better solution before I head down this path.

Thanks.

  Recordings at double speed
Posted by: theason - 2013-03-05, 12:00 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

I upgraded to the R2 version of all the files the other night, then noticed that my recordings were coming out at faster normal speed with no sound. I reverted back to my previous version but still my recordings are not correct. I've now got the latest R2 rollup that you released two days ago installed. Can anybody tell me what is going on here?

Since I figured nobody would quite understand what I'm seeing I shot a quick 1 minute video on my iPhone to demonstrate it.
