Sorry to ask what may be an idiot question BUT ....

I use NPVR with Popcorn Hour NMTs with Martin's excellent package for the PCH NMT
If I want to move to XMBC running on Raspberry Pi's would I go to the plugin or X-NEWA?
I am not looking for any more functionality than I get from Popcorn Hour NMTs

I read Martin's sticky post about this several times, I think I need X-NEWA but remain quite confused

I've been looking at moving back to npvr from mce but having an odd issue. I have 3 hauppage dual pci-e tuners. In mce i can record 6 clearqam or 6 analog channels at a time. In npvr, one tuner will always fail to start for clearqam so i can only do 4 clearqam channels at a time. The weird part is that i can do 6 analog still. Any ideas?

Advicing all to stay away from these usb dvb-c devices from the far east (China, Signapore etc). They work fine for a couple of months and then dies. I'v had two of each and all has behaved the same way. It would be interesting to hear if anyone has a working device of those types that has worked for more than 3 months.

Having problems with NextPvr live Tv taking long time to change channel, sometimes up to 10 seconds, but mostly around 5 seconds, and intermittently when trying to change channel it will boot me out of liveTv viewing to a page telling me "The tuner you were using was required for a recording"

I am running on windows 7 64bit and have done a fresh windows install to try and see if the issue was there somewhere..
No different on fresh install with dependancies all installed, although after doing all windows updates the issue is alot less severe.

Have tried a few different decoders, before windows updates Microsofts DTV-DVD decoders were very problematic.
Currently using Mainconcept HCW decoders, having less issues with them..

So im wondering if the issue is with my
Motherboard: Gigabyte ga-h67ma-d2h-b3 Rev 1.1, i updated the bios to see if that would help.. no luck..
or
Onboard GPU: Intel® HD Graphics Core 2000/3000.. Running latest drivers with 256mb shared RAM
or
DVB-T Tuner: WinTV-HVR-2210 - Hauppauge..

Changing channels in the Native WinTV 7 Viewer is alot faster and lockup free, betweeen 2 and 5 seconds.

Ive spent the last 2 days solid trying to sort this out so id be very appreciative if i could get some help...

Recently Lao Pan posted some new 16:9 UK channel logos & it got me to thinking that my channel logo's were in need of some touching up (to be honest they looked like total crap in comparison to his)....

Because I have no intention of merging my satellite & terrestrial sources I decided to do a couple of complete sets with totally different styles (which grew into three sets when the Boss & I couldn't agree on the colour for the "tile" set), this way I can tell at a glance (with my JustRetro skin that displays channel logos in the recording screen) which source a recording was recorded from......

Example screenshot attached (the top lot I have called "Tile-Gold" the middle ones "Tile-Mauve" & the grey ones "Plaques", all three sets have all the logos for all the common Freeview TV & Radio station (both DVB-T & DVB-S) but the Plaques also have some alternatives included that have the channels old logo & some I just simply prefer to the latest ones.

You will need to put them into your "DataDirectory\NPVR\Media\Channels" directory & rename the .jpg's to have the "exact same name" as your channels for them to work.

I found this as Folder.jpg in one of my music folders and it seems to be a default for if there isn't any album art.

Does it come with NextPVR or is it from a plugin I might have used in the past? Either way, can I steal it (I need a default music image)?

There's no copyright or author information when I examine the file.

Hello Everyone!
Reinstalled NextPVR after a while (last time was still GB-PVR), and I can say that is a fantastic piece of software.
There are two major flaws that still are keeping me away from everyday use.
1) Channels scanning: there are still the same problems that GB-PVR had.
My satellite is Hotbird 13E.
The ini file that comes with NextPVR doesn't find all the channels (many from Sky Italy bouquet).
After downloading and adapting the ini file from KingOfsat, many more channels are found, but ... program crashes.
I think the problem is that Hotbird has >1700 channels, and it semms to me that NextPVR puts all the channels found in a temporary buffer that is too small.
Everything goes without a hitch for dvb-t (that has ca. 300 channels in my city).
I tried to verify if there were some frequencies that caused the crash, but if I scan a single frequency (or a group of 5-6 frequencies) there's no problem.
Crashes occur when the scanning is almost finished (transponder n. 100 more or less).
2) The second (big) problem is channel handling.
My suggestion is to change completely the way channels are managed.
If I want a list of favourites channels, preferably divided into groups, with possibility to change group from the remote (Sky, Cyfra, Nova, FTA), is very difficult job to do in NextPVR.
I've tried to do it, but after many hours the job wasn't still complete.
Let me explain.
After scanning, NextPVR lets you choose which channels to add to the list of the card, but if I make a mistake or forget to add a channel, there's no way to come back without scanning again.
After channels are added, you can add them to groups or renumber them, but ... you have no information of them.
For example, Fox is channel present in several bouquets (Sky, Cyfra, etc.), and I must know which Fox channel is, before adding to a group or another:this way I don't know which channel I'm add to a group or another.
Another suggestion is related to the way NextPVR handles channel numbering, that is not very fast for the user.
My suggestion is to save all the channels data found during scannijng (in a file, database, etc.), and then let the user choose which number and which group assign to the channels, remaining always visible all the channel's parameters (frequency, sid, provider, etc.), preferably with the use also of mouse.
And, at last, didn't find the possibility to change channels groups with a shortcut (from the remote), but maybe didn't find it in the docs.
Don't get me wrong: NextPVR is an excellent piece of software, I only want it to become more user-friendly.

Recently all my recordings are starting in black & white, then after 5-10 minutes switch to colour and stay coloured for the rest of the recording. Every recording does this lately. I have a Hauppauge PVR-150 tuner card and a Motorola digital box. Has anyone else ran into this issue before?

Still experimenting with my NPVR installation migrated from GB-PVR 1.4.7. I just recorded a program from an ATSC OTA (USA) channel, and edited the recording using my standard tool (VideoRedo), deleting commercials and remuxing to MPG containers.

This TS recording seems to experience a lot more periodic dropouts than I was used to with GB-PVR and the DVR-MS mux. This wasn't an exhaustive test and there are very good reasons to use Transport Streams, but now I wonder if Microsoft provided additional data massaging with their proprietary mux.

Is there any way to set additional parameters to improve TS performance, maybe increase buffering or something?

Still in n00b stage when it comes to NPVR... TIA.

I use timed recordings to capture blocks of video that typically run over preset EPG start/stop times. Searching the forum, I find reference to "hidden manual recording" interfaces, but I can find no way to un-hide manual recordings in the normal Settings application or in the Web admin pages.

How can I set a timed recording in NPVR? TIA!
