  Video Library Fanart Transparency
Posted by: tieke - 2013-01-03, 12:54 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

Although I like the Fanart option in the Video Library it's often a bit overwhelming, so I wanted a way to dim it down a bit.

I tried adding a low alpha value to the <Element name="FanArt" location="0,0" size="100,100"> line in the Video Library skin, but that didn't do it - can I change the transparency or should I find a place to put a partially transparent black box on top of the fanart instead?

thanks,
tieke

  No PVR clients started yet
Posted by: onizuka - 2013-01-03, 12:01 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (29)

Running the latest nightly XBMC with latest nextPVR (R1 and NShared.dll timeshift patches) ad well as latest add-on (Dec. 31). Can see channels after scan in nextPVR and can play them in the GUI. When loading up XBMC with the add-on enabled and Live TV enabled it gets stuck:

"PVR manager is starting up, Loading channels from clients"

Clicking Live TV gives:

No PVR clients started yet

NextPVR and XBMC running on the same Win 7 x64 machine, using HDHomerun

Any ideas? Thanks!

  Corrupted NPVR.db3 file?
Posted by: jghanisco - 2013-01-02, 11:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hello,

I had an issue with my videorecording service not being able to start, and I read in a previous thread about the fact that it could be a npvr.db3 issue. I changed the name of that database, restarted NextPVR, and everything opened fine with the new npvr.db3 file, but of course with no data. I was able to open up my old npvr.db3 file in SQLite Manager, run a check on it, and it found no errors. Is there a way for me to troubleshoot the database, or am I out of luck on this one and need to rebuild NPVR with the new database, and start backing up that file daily?

Thanks,
Joe

Web Service with password - does this work?
Posted by: psycik - 2013-01-02, 05:48 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (3)

Trying the pvr service from windows. It's configured, got the port set up. But when I go into system info, the PVR service is always grayed out.

But I notice my web server has user name and passowrd set, so will this work? Do I need to get rid of this?

Buying a laptop - any ideas?
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-01-01, 10:04 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

Nothing to do with NextPVR hence posting in General Discussion.

My wife's current PC is almost as old as the ark so I was going to upgrade the mobo etc. but she suggested just getting a cheap-ish laptop. I'm completely out of the loop with current hardware and I've personally never owned a laptop so that makes it even harder to advise her on what to get. So....

All she needs to use it for is the usual - email, web-browsing, creating documents with Word etc. so nothing needing any major processing power.

Ideally she'd prefer a 4:3 ratio screen and it needs to be fairly light to carry. She's not fussed about Windows version although I'm inclined to go with W7.

I'd be interested to hear any comments from anyone who has recently bought a laptop so I can get an idea of which makes/models to look at.

Cheers and Happy New Year,
Brian

nPVR 2.5.9 HDHomerun ATSC Fails But HDHomerun Prime Works
Posted by: gby - 2013-01-01, 03:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have an existing nPVR setup on an older computer where everything works fine. I am building a new replacement computer and in setting up nPVR I can not get my HDHomerun ATSC tuners to work.

Specifically, on the new setup the HDHomerun Prime tuners work but anytime I try to tune in a channel that maps to the regular dual HDHomerun dual tuner getting ATSC over antenna nPVR fails. nPVR locks up for a while with the windows mouse pointer showing the activity "circle" showing no video and outputting no sound. If I try to close the nPVR window while this is happening the upper right X does not immediately work and usually Windows puts up the error box saying the application is not responding and do you want to force this application closed. If I try selecting a Live TV channel from the HDHomerun ATSC and wait a long time eventually nPVR puts up an error message:

"The tuner you were using was required for a recording. Would you like to switch to watching a recording, or exit back to the menu?"

This error message does not make sense given that there are NO recordings set up on the nPVR at all.

Attached are a zip of the logs I made today and a jpg showing the nPVR error message. For the logs, I specifically did the following:
1. Rebooted the computer
2. Started the nPVR Window
3. Put up the channels screen
4. Selected a channel (504) that would go to the working HDHomerun Prime
5. Successfully watched that for a while
6. Selected a channel (1966) that goes to the HDHomerun dual ATSC tuner
7. Saw no video, heard no sound and let it sit.
8. Queried the HDHomerun tuner via hdhomerun_config.exe and saw that both tuners were completely idle (nPVR was not connected)
9. Took a screen shot of the resulting nPVR error box about recording issues even though no recording events exist
10. Zipped up the .log files in user\public\nPVR\logs with today's date. Ignore the other with older dates

I have run out of ideas to debug this problem and need some help. I assume this is not the usual firewall or decoder problems since the HDHomerun Prime works. With just the HDHomerun dual ATSC tuner not working any ideas on how to fix this?

Below is the history/configuration of my setup with every detail I thought might be needed.

Working Old Computer
Originally Vista 32 since upgraded to Win 7 32 with SP1; now using Windows built in firewall
Originally GBPVR, uninstalled fully, installed nPVR long ago and recently upgraded to Ver 2.5.9 with R1 patches
Tuners:
HDHomerun Prime to FIOS cable
HDHomerun via antenna for ATSC
Hauppaugue WinTV 250 connected to FIOS Cable
On this setup everything works.

Problem New Computer
Win 7 64 bit SP1; using Windows built in firewall
Installed HDHomerun software and proved both HDHR Prime and HDHR regular on ATSC 100% functioning
Installed nPVR 2.5.9 from scratch, then added R1 patches
Installed AC3Filter for Audio
Tuners:
HDHomerun Prime to FIOS cable
HDHomerun via antenna for ATSC
Set up tuners, decoders, etc
Put exceptions into Firewall for nPVR
Started testing and Channel mapping

The testing revealed that the HDHomerun Prime seems to work 100%. This tells me that nPVR exe's are properly listed in the Windows Firewall I am using.

  Buffering Issue
Posted by: McLarenMP4 - 2013-01-01, 02:15 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (15)

Hi

1st of all I would like to thank sub & all the people working on the npvr + xbmc integration. The combination is working nearly perfectly apart from 1 small issue. When I am watching an HD channel (I think it's just HD, haven't noticed it doing it on SD channels) it will be working perfect and then it goes into a buffering fit. If I leave it alone it will eventually catch up with itself and will continue on until the next fit.
The easiest method for me to workaround this issue is to pause live tv for 5 - 10 seconds, it is usually fine for a while or until I change channel.
It's not that frequent, for example I will be watching a football game (soccer) and during the 90+15mins it had 3 buffering fits lasting about a minute each time.
I'm thinking it's the size of the buffer not being quite big enough but unsure where this is controlled
If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Freeview HD - UK - DVBT2 and Decoding HE-AAC to Dolby Digital / DTS
Posted by: Dodgexander - 2013-01-01, 01:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

I am trying to make sure that using Next PVR with my PCTV Nanostick 290e T2 that I am correctly receiving 5.1 HE-AAC and decoding it into Dolby Digital (or DTS) for my AMP to process the signal.

At the moment I have Next PVR set up to use the latest Lav Audio decoder for HE-AAC. Sound works, but there is no definitive way for me to see if I am in fact receiving 6ch audio that is then being converted to Dolby Digital by my sound card. For instance, I do not know if I am only receiving 2ch audio which is then being mixed to 5.1 by my sound card.

A couple of questions really, I have tried using graphedit, but cannot connect to the Next PVR graph for live tv, I have tried to open the Lav Audio config, only to find no "pin" tab. How can i make sure everything is being done correctly?

Second question, is there a way to use a filter like FFDSHOW to post process only HE-AAC 5.1 to Dolby Digital so that when the audio switches between 5.1 and 2 channel it switches between stereo and dolby digital on my amp?

Obviously I am testing this using the HDTV channels in the UK whilst they are broadcasting 5.1 sound and I am using the hardware of my Xonar HDAV to convert to Dolby or DTS.

Many Thanks for any help!

  mc2xml problems
Posted by: richardcoop2 - 2013-01-01, 06:45 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (35)

I am trying to configure a new computer to use NextPVR with mc2xml. I think I am doing everything right. following the documation but I wind up with an empty program guide in NextPVR. Looking at the XML file, it looks like all the program descriptions are downloaded and in the file. In the NPVR program guide, all the channel numbers are imported put none of the descriptions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Only showing up to channel 30 on NextPVR Web Server
Posted by: mbluett - 2013-01-01, 01:47 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (3)

NextPVR v2.5.9 on Vista x64.

I removed some extraneous channels from Settings -> Channels. In the throes of getting this done I received an Unexpected Exceptions error (I didn't pay attention to the specifics). Even though the exception occurred NextPVR happily removed the channels I was removing.

Previous to this the NextPVR web server was showing all channels when scrolling vertically. Now all I see is up to channel 30 from the NextPVR web server. The guide on the NextPVR HTPC itself shows all configured channels. It is just the web server that is incorrect.

Any ideas on how I can correct the problem?
