Can't get both Colossus cards changing channel properly
Posted by: Karyudo - 2013-01-04, 03:05 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (35)

I've had two Colossus cards in my NPVR system for some time, but since I only ever recorded from one channel, I'd never tried to set up the IR blasters.

Well, today I tried, and I failed big-time.

First, the successes: I've got both cards recognized. Both are using component and S/PDIF in. Both are set to "HD-PVR IR Blaster". I can record on both (started manually with Quick Record on two separate channels), and the recordings come out fine -- even in XBMC.

Now for the weirdness: When I start a recording, I see the blaster change the channel on the first (top) tuner. If I start another recording, NPVR records from the correct (second, bottom) tuner, but the blaster changes the channel on the wrong (first, top) tuner!

I know some of you Colossus users must have this sorted. Could you give me a hand figuring this out, please?

  Recording back-to-back shows switches tuners
Posted by: PatM - 2013-01-04, 02:43 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

As the title says. I had one working and one not working so well tuner. I set three back to back shows on the same channel to record (All Shows on Channel, not quick record). Although the shows are back to back NPVR switched tuners at each show. Since there were three the first and third recorded fine by the second did not.

I figure it's probably the pre and post record padding making it do this and I'm not even sure this behavior should be changed. Now that my second capture card is happy again it's not really a problem except that I can see someone watching something else and NPVR will probably swipe the tuner out from them.

Of course I've since changed settings so there's no padding that would cause overlaps.

  Channel changer argument not working
Posted by: PatM - 2013-01-04, 02:36 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

After removing my colossus and re-installing my channel changing setup no longer worked for that tuner - it still worked fine for the second tuner that wasn't removed.

I erased all the colossus channels and re-imported/bulk mapped and still no channel changing.

I went to eventghost and checked the logs. It's getting the channel change command, password, script name, and even the right channel number but for some reason the numeric argument is changed from 3 to 1.

-n localhost:1024 pass channel 3 {channel}

I erased channels again, erased the command line and re-wrote it, re-import, bulk map, etc and still EV is receiving a 1 instead of a 3.

I checked nrecord.log and it shows a perfect argument line except there's a 1 where I put a 3.

I'm set up for three transmitters off a USB-UIRT and only use 2. My script has three sections and 1 wasn't being used so I simply changed all it's transmits to the proper transmitter and I'm up and running. Just reporting for other's sakes.

Adaptec VideOh! DVD Media Center USB 2.0 Edition not recognised
Posted by: helenix134 - 2013-01-03, 11:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I have been looking for a program to replace the very old Intervideo WinDVR v 3 software which enables us to watch cable TV from our Virgin box on our Windows XP PC via Adaptec VideOh! DVD Media Center USB 2.0 Edition.

NextPVR seemed to offer all that we need, but unfortunately it does not give details of any device on the Settings - Device screen

I have found an entry on the Forum which says that the program should work with the Adaptec USB version (although not the PCI version) - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ht=adaptec

How can I get nPVR to recognise our device please?

Many thanks

  Simplify Recordings Screen
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2013-01-03, 09:42 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

It occurred to me that the current 4 view options on the recordings menu could easily (?) be simplified into two, which IMO would be a little bit more friendly to use.
"What's New" is really just the recordings list ordered by date of most recent recording - so this could just be one screen with the menu option to order alphabetically or chronically. (EDIT: actually the option to sort by date already exists, so an option not to display 'what's new' would suffice)
And 'pending' and 'reoccurring' are also really the same thing. If the option to cancel / update a reoccurring recording was added to the pending sub-menu (when applicable) then one screen could be used to perform all the actions of the current two.
This would leave just a 'Current Recordings' screen and a 'Future recordings' screen with all the functionality of the current 4, but much easier to flip between and use.

Hope this makes sense....

Can the /live?channel=X url only use one tuner?
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-01-03, 07:00 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

sub - if you look at this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-one-tuner it seems when a second nDroid app tries to stream LiveTV, the first is cut-off. Is this expected behaviour?

The only way I know to get a Live TV stream from the npvr web server is

Code:
server:port/live?channel=X
or to use the 'transcode URL. Is it only possible to use one tuner?

CHeers,
Brian

  Ndroid only using one tuner
Posted by: Rodnmatt - 2013-01-03, 04:43 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (1)

I have Ndroid successfully installed on my Android tablet and on my android phone (HTC Wildfire) however if I try to run a live tv video feed they seem to use the same tuner so one stops and the other one takes over
checking the status in NPVR both seem to be using the first priority tuner even though I have 6 more tuners available .
I have to say apart from this It works very well so far . My server is on a windows 8 64 bit system with 5 HD DVB-T2 and to SD DVB-T tuners I have replaced Windows media centre with NPVR after trying Mediaportal which was not stable on my windows 8 system. I Also have a windows 8 laptop and a windows 8 desktop PC for use of visitors (mostly Grandchildren on sleepovers) running NPVR as a client.
Apart from some experimentation to get a good video player set up and getting firewall settings right this was a remarkably trouble free installations

  DVB-S2 EPG Recommendations
Posted by: jfh_777 - 2013-01-03, 04:00 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm after a little advice/suggestions on potential solutions to improving my EPG listings using my DVB-S2 based card in the UK.

Background is I'm migrating from Windows 7 MC and hopefully going to integrate with XBMC as the next step. So far I have scanned in my channels and created a group consisting of the basic BBC, ITV channels etc that I'm actually interested in from the hundreds of junk channels that come with the basic freesat scan.

My EPG data is currently limited to now and next, and just plain missing on certain channels. There is also a strange character appearing at the beginning and end of each item - not sure what it is but it's annoying. This is something that I'd like to improve upon.

One of the slightly annoying things about the 7MC EPG was sometimes it would name series episodes slightly differently and this would break the series link. For example sometimes the documentary series Horizon would be listed as 'Horizon' and sometimes it would be listed as the episode name. I'm wondering if perhaps some better guide listings will resolve this.

I've read the wiki stuff regarding XML imports etc and i'm not opposed to paying for something like digiguide but I just wondered what others have found to be effective on a practical level.

Also, will the PC wake from sleep at 2AM (the default time) to do the guide update?

One thing I liked about 7MC was the ability to search listings, you could just type the program name and it would search the EPG and it tell you the time/channel it was on) does this functionality exist in NextPVR?

Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

James

Colosus with SPDIF = choppy video
Posted by: PatM - 2013-01-03, 05:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

For quite a long time I've been having all sorts of problems with the Colussus and tonight I finally figured out the problem is SPDIF. I installed the colossus on a computer I used NPVR on over a year ago to see if I could get it to work. The video was flawless but no audio (SPDIF again). I upgraded to 2.5.9 and the video was fine but still no audio. I installed the R1 patches and boom, video went to pot. Since the Colossus patches were to do with SPDIF I disconnect it and re-did the channels with RCA source and the video was back to perfect.

I yanked the colossus and put it back into the regular HTPC, redid the channels without SPDIF and the video was perfect there too (though the audio was always perfect on this machine with SPDIF).

Now, of course, my USBUIrT doesnt want to work on that channel. That's for tomorrow.
