  HdHomerun issue
Posted by: glenb7 - 2012-12-04, 06:24 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (18)

I am using the dual tuner HDhomerun unit with TWC cable in the US for qam. when i record shows that are 1080i, most of the time i am unable to skip forward or back, but the file will play. posting earlier someone suggested to use ffmpeg to place in new container essentially copying audio stream and video stream to new ts container and that will correct it. when i do that i notice that on these files the error seems to be a bad audio packet very early in the file. is there anything i can do in terms of setup that might correct this ? i am not sure how the recording is done, but i think it is just a capture of what hdhomerun is sending. this problem does not happen on stations that broadcast in 720p ? anyone have any ideas ?

HD Homerun: NPVR scans channels but finds none
Posted by: ronburk - 2012-12-04, 03:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Windows XP
HD Homerun installed and finds all channels
Installed NPVR
Installed latest patch for NPVR
Tried with HDHR application set to both NextPVR and Other
Firewall disabled
NPVR sees the HDHR device(s)
NPVR does channel scan, steps through channels (slowly), but never reports finding any.
Logs attached.
Any help appreciated.

[REQUEST] Additional information in the "Recordings" screen
Posted by: KaraokeStu - 2012-12-04, 02:33 PM - Forum: NextPVR Web Console - Replies (5)

It doesn't have to be there immediately, but it should have the details of the programme recorded from the guide at the time (as the NEWA interface does), detailing the description from the program.

eg: For Eastenders today, it should show:

Code:
Sharon, Jay and Lola try to convince Shirley that Phil is a changed man. Also in HD. [AD,S] Then BBC News.

It could do this via popup, it just makes it easier to see what's what!

HD Homerun tuner scan and finds channels but no picture or sound
Posted by: MTBboy - 2012-12-04, 08:08 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I've just installed NextPVR for the first time and trying to get started.
I have a HD Homerun network tuner. I've installed the Homerun software and it tunes to TV channels and displays fine.

I've installed Next PVR. The tuner has been setup. I've scanned through and found my channels, but when I go to live TV there is no picture or sound. When I try to record I get nothing to play back.

I have done this step
SiliconDust HDHomeRun
Ensure that you have firewall exceptions to allow NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe and NDigitalHost.exe to communicate on the network, else the device will not deliver any data. In the HDHomeRun setup choose NextPVR as the Application; if you can't scan for channels, try setting it to "Other - ATSC/QAM" instead.

Where do I start looking?
Log files are attached.
Thanks!!!

API built into NextPVR Web Console
Posted by: reven - 2012-12-04, 02:05 AM - Forum: NextPVR Web Console - Replies (8)

just letting developers out there know, there is a API built into the NextPVR web console.

http://[server]:[port]/api

its a WebAPI api, all calls work over JSON (most over XML, not all currently will in future, some objects just need serialization added, JSON for some funny reason doesn't need this, its just automatic).

you can test in it the browser via json by including a "json=true" parameter

eg
http://localhost:8877/api/recordings?json=true

it uses HTTP methods for actions, so "GET" returns objects, "POST" updates objects, "DELETE" deletes/cancels objects etc. its not super well documented ATM, but full source code is available on github and you can see all the calls via the web console if you open up browser tools in chrome/firefox/IE.

this will allow native applications for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc talk to NextPVR without a developer needing to write their own service to do so.

the web console basically uses this api from the client side using javascript, so pretty much anything you can do in the NextPVR Web Console you can do via the API.

my intention is to keep this API as the core communication path and handle all requests this way.

if any developers would like to know more, i'm happy to help out.

I'm hoping other developers will pick this up, and make use of things like "Users" etc.

  nDroid available through Amazon Appstore
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-12-04, 01:53 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (6)

Well in theory anyway. Wink

PLEASE NOTE - this is v1.8.1 (the same as Google Play) and not an update to the current app - just an extra way of distributing it.

I received the following from Amazon a short while ago...

Quote:Dear Brian,

The following app has been accepted and will be made available for sale in the Amazon marketplace today or on the future-availability date you specified:

nDroid

Please note that we may conduct additional testing on your app and that the app may not currently be available on all devices.
I didn't specify a "future-availability" date so in theory that means it should be available "today". Not sure when that will be (I think their time-zone is PST so could be several hours yet).

Although their message says "for sale", the app is free on Amazon as it is on Google Play.

Although my Amazon developer account shows the app has gone from "Under Review" to "Live", I haven't been able to find it using any search terms yet so perhaps it hasn't filtered through the system (I'm hoping that's the reason).

Anyway, I'm winding down for the night. If anyone finds it and successfully installs it then please let me know.

EDIT: It's there now. Direct link is here.

Cheers,
Brian

  2.5.5 Compatible?
Posted by: smajor - 2012-12-03, 11:46 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (1)

Well, I think so - just need to reassurance.

NEWA 1.3.0 is in the wiki, says 2.5.5 or higher. I want to stay on 2.5.5 until 2.5.9 gets some fixes.

Will X-NEWA work okay in this configuration if I update 2.5.5's NEWA to the latest?

  X-NEWA Freezes
Posted by: a_team - 2012-12-03, 07:14 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (3)

Hi:

I've begun to use X-Newa to access NextPVR in XBMC Eden and I'm running into a constant issue where it freezes when I try to change the channel from one to another. I use a Hauppauge 2250 card, running Windows as an OS, and a pretty stable build. Running latest Eden, X-Newa, and NextPVR release. I also installed the NextPVR patch.

Am I missing something?

Recommend a TV Tuner card? (WINDOWS 7) (XMBC)
Posted by: R504 - 2012-12-03, 06:32 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (17)

Hi all,

I currently use a cable box for my cable and a Windows 7 HTPC running XBMC for downloaded movies/tv/music. My cable company (Cox) has been upping the charges to use their cable box so I'm fixing to get rid of it, since the only benefit to me is the menu and show recording. I would like to merge that TV viewing/recording functionality to my HTPC, and I think that Next PVR + the pending "Frodo" release of XBMC + a compatible TV tuner card are the way to go. My question is this: What is the most compatible (read: easiest to get working with minimal hassle and configuring) TV tuner card for the setup I've described on the market. The card must be "low profile" and compatible with PCI 1.x.

Here are my system specs:

Windows 7 32 bit
Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
3GB RAM
512MB Geforce Video card (8400 I think)

-Price limit should be around 100 USD.
-HD NOT needed!

Thanks in advance!

-Rob
