So, I'm having some IR blaster issues...my Hauppauge mce dongle has two IR transmitter ports but I can't seem to get both ports to blast independently (tried IRSS and LM Gestion Keymapping).
I've since started looking at the USB UIRT and it seems to have two ir blasters but when I look at the picture I can't see how it works. It's only got one IR emitter port bit two blasters in the front.
My question is can you use the USB UIRT to blast two different STBs? I suppose the external IR emitter goes to one box and the main head goes to another?
Other question is...has anyone gotten IRSS to blast both ports independently of the Hauppauge MCE dongle? If so what IRSS release. I'm in win 7 x64.
I made some changes to my SchedulesDirect lineup (on their website) and after about a week I am still not seeing the channels I added propagating into the available channels list in the config gui. Is there a way to force the app to clean out and refresh that list?
After reading this article on Supersite for windows blog, it got me thinking about my own environment (below). I wonder if improvements can be made... What stuff are you guys using and how well does it work together, and with your use of NextPVR?

Not sure on the UK options and the benifits of this kind of service. Currently, all music is stored on the HTPC server and shared with the house. Selected albums are copied to my Android phone for playback in the car and on the move.

I ran GPVR happily with winXP and had no problems and tempted by upgrades, I've now switched to NPVR and dropped in some more memory and a faster processor but things are not running quite as well.
It all gets upset when updating EPG especially if it's trying to record - known issue.
I often get exception type messages saying things like recording service failed (I can't remember exactly - it's often wife reported "it had an error box - I rebooted"!!).
I've played with all the codecs I can but still have issues with playback, we often have to click play, which shows blank screen with no sound, then stop and play again which then plays ok.
My question is: if I move to win7 will I be gaining some more stabled codecs/platform which will help NPVR. I guess it's being developed and tested on a newish OS like win7 rather than the now dated XP.
Also, do most folk use whatever free codecs they can get hold of or is it standard practice for example to buy winDVD or something that presumably gives access to decent codecs.
Is there a way (a hot key that pops up some info would be nice) to show which codecs (video and audio) the currently playing things is using and which format. This would help narrow down codec issues.
I would like to make more use of the fanart. Is it possible to show the fan rt as a background when browsing the [Movies] level, ie, when the selection is on [A Movie], it shows the fanart for that movie from that folder.
I've done a new install of npvr. My PC has an HD-PVR 1212 which works fine with the Arcsoft application. In npvr I've chosen the Arcsoft decoders and the blaster is working fine.
Going to live TV results in a black screen. Recording shows from the guide results in 0KB files and the error "No errors, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal.
The HD-PVR is setup with the component input. Audio was set for back inputs, but it always switches back to SPDIF.
Just a while ago, i downloaded the latest nightly , NPVR support and Patch. Installation seem to go well. Unfortuantely, I can only use LiveTV on the first channel I select. Second or third attempts on the same or different channels results in a tuner not available. Channels seem to work correctly from NPVR directly.

I am getting the following error on my NPVR client, when trying to play a recording:
Unhandled exception
System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException: Tcp channel protocol violation: expecting preamble
The client is running Win 7 32-bit, but I also get the same error with a Vista 32-bit client. The server is Vista Ultimate 32-bit. The .ts files are stored on a FreeNAS server.
I have NPVR version 2.5.9 on both server and client, and have applied the R1 patches.
Note that on the client computer, I can connect to and successfully play the .ts files using Windows Media Player. The .ts files also play normally from NPVR on the server computer. The problem only occurs when trying to play them using NPVR on a client.
Before anyone spends too much time trying to solve this, please be advised that I have sent a support request to D-Link. The problem started after replacing my D-Link dir-625 wireless router with a new dir-835. When I change back to the dir-625, the problem disappears.
I am posting this, in case someone else has encountered a similar problem with a specific router, and has found an easy solution, other than getting rid of the new router. Maybe there is some configuration option in the router that I'm missing. As far as I can tell, I have configured both routers the same way, other than the fact that the newer router has some capabilities that the older one did not.
I will report back if I get any solution from D-Link on this, although I'm not overly optimistic.
I have attached a zip containing my client's NPVR.log file and the error trace text from the client.

I have a Windows 7 System that has been using MCE with a HD-PVR. I've installed the current version of NextPVR. When I go to devices, it shows the HD-PVR. If I click on settings, it gives me the option of importing channels or adding channels. There does not seem to be any data to import. It suggests the xml file from the c:/temp folder, but there is no file there. I have tried manually adding a channel and that doesn't work either.
