On a recent install on a nettop with amd e450 apu. most recent version with the patches applied. worked out all tweaks except that on some recordings when played back through npvr i cannot navigate forward or back. i will either get paused screen or blank screen. the same resulting files will play fine on windows media player or through xbmc. it seems to happen more when i have had two recording at the same time, but it has happened on a single recording. I have tried both lowering and raising the quality setting, with no apparent change. i have also tried a number of different codecs for the playback but none made any difference. the file will play linear and will pause and resume play.
the storage drive is a recent wd portable 2.5 inch 7200rpm drive connected with usb3. i plan to switch to my ssd that houses operating system to troubleshoot further.
If anyone knows of setting in the xml file that i ought to try or any other fix, please let me know.
I use the default skin in NPVR and wondered if there was a setting anywhere to change the number of visible main menu items from 6 to something larger? I use the Vertical menu. Happy with editting XML if necessary.
Hello! I am new to NVPR and am trying to set it up and can't figure out what is wrong. I am getting a black screen during LiveTV. I am running a Windows 8 Pro machine with WMC installed. It is running a NVidia GTX 460 vcard and a Homerun HD Prime. Channels are showing in NVPR but no EPG data is showing up either. Here is the zip of the logs.
Just wanted to swing by the forum and express my appreciation for the mvpmx2 software. A hard drive died in my PC this week, it was literally the first time in almost a year that I logged into my npvr server and did anything. Both my PCH units are used on an almost daily basis, they are like appliances; we turn them on and use them. Thanks Martin for your hard work, I'm sure there are others out there like me who don't post much on the forum because we have no issues to post about!
I have three tuners, one is the Hauppauge WinTV 418 which has been working fine for months now. I just added a Dual tuner HD Homerun. When I try to record using the Homerun tuners I get a TS file with no data in it. NPVR tells me "No errors, but not data delivered. This is usually because the device" I have tried using HD homerun's config utility and they are both working fine with it. I have also tried Windows Media Center and it recognizes both HDhomerun tuners. I would switch over to WMC if I wasn't restricted to just WTV format which my devices will not playback. If anyone is able to help me out I would appreciate it.
I used to see a "NEW" icon or logo in TV Listings using XMLTV Extras which indicated new broadcasts. After upgrading to the latest versions of TV Listings and XMLTV Extras I no longer see that icon.
Did something in either app change, or is that info no longer supplied in the XMLTV file? I use mc2xml as my grabber and Microsoft as the source which provides XMLTV data from Zap2It.
I reside in Wisconsin USA and my setup was this:
2 PVR-500 (Hauppauge) cards for a total of 4 tuners. (Current card: http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&...,s:0,i:125 )
I get basic cable (Time Warner) and do not have any set top boxes from the cable company.
I was using GBPVR (not nextpvr) but I would like to use this opportunity to make the jump.
What I need to know is the following:
1) Given my current cable status and not wanting to upgrade from basic, what tuner cards would you recommend? I would still like to have 4 tuners total.
2) The old case this was in is showing it's age and I would like to replace it. I am looking for something of a similar form factor to it. (Here it is http://computercases.productwiki.com/thermaltake-bach/
Hi all, I am trying to set up a client and I am having a problem that has me stumped. I have everything set up correctly apart from the client is not connecting to the npvr.db3 database. Whenever I try I get the message "Server database not found at \\EMACHINES\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\npvr\npvr.db3". I am 99% sure that it is a rights problem because if I move the database to another location (such as the desktop on the server), it connects okay and works fine. Not strictly an NPVR question, but it is stopping me setting it up. I have tried sharing directories, removing passwords, etc., all to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?
PS: I used GBPVR back in the day but left to use SageTV as at the time it was the only one I know of that had clients. Now that SageTV seems to be on the way out, it is good to be back, with the goal of getting NPVR set up with XBMC!
Now that's probably not NPVR's fault but what I'm thinking is shouldn't NPVR retry or restart service automatically instead of staying in record mode for the full duration? I find that restarting the service picks up the channel. [I guess that's not the best solution if another recordings are in progress]
