I have noticed that when a show is recording the "Currently Recording" display stays on the screen for a long long time after it finishes. Is this normal?

so i keep getting buffering every 10-15 minutes or so... random audio dropouts... otherwise it runs pretty great.. i don't get it.. with wmc it comes in perfectly.. it's connected right to the same gigabit switch.. here is a debug log..
I downloaded the latest version. I had read earlier about copying certain files and pasting them over the old ones but when I opened the download it was just about installing the program. I let it reinstall. After restarting I tried to record but got "no device" and then an unhandled exception message which I've listed below. I've tried recording now for several days but the same error. The recording device has been working for months now and continues to work on a Cyberlink video editing program. I do remember I had a hard time getting all the (over my head) technical adjustments to make my card work when I first installed nvpr a year ago.
This is the latest error message:

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

@Sub,
I noticed this commit a few days ago -> https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/1455 it allows icons, thumnails & fanart for recordings. Other than timeshifting, this is like the last piece of the pie for me
I know NPVR already has the channel icons available, but what about thumnails & fanart? I don't think the fanart is critical, but NPVR doesn't create thumbnails for recordings does it?
If I should post this in another forum please let me know.
anyone else noticed that live tv sometimes jumps back in the stream?
for example on my pi (and on an openelec HTPC) i was watching tv (sd) and it jumped back and showed about 30 seconds prior to where i was, then when it got back to where i was, it jumped back again.
stopped the stream and restarting it, temporarily fixed the problem but it came back.
i'll try and get some logs if i see it happening again.
didnt want to mention this if only on pi, but since happening on proper htpc thought I'd report it.
i do realise this isnt much help without any logs...
Does anyone have playback issues under XP and NPVR?
Specifically, most programs will only have black video, audio is present. Some few play back Ok. Live playback is always black video, audio present, unless I've intentionally broken it by audio decoder choice.
Same recording plays back perfectly in VLC, so the recording is OK. Quality is a little fuzzy, I have a bit noisy digital cable going thru a convertor to analog hauppauge hvr-1600.
WinTV 7 plays live, plays recorded items fine.
I've tried EVR, VRM9, VMR9 enhanced decoders, installed SAF pack to try ffdshow.
The only thing that fails is NPVR. i've had this issue for at least three release, posted about it once before.
Basically I use npvr to record stuff and I've just been playing back in VLC.
GBPVR is still installed but not running, a long while back I tried playing some of these recordings in gbpvr and they played.
The only thing that I can think is doing it is the noise in the recording; but I don't know why npvr would have issue when vmr9 decode in gbpvr does not. Nor VLC, etc etc.
I've kinda given up spending time trying to fix this for quite a while due to lack of time, that I'm not sure what would be useful to post here for troubleshooting. I doubt graphics card chipset or recording issues since everything else is happy.
Any thoughts? Mention any util output or logs useful to attach, I'll do so.
johnsonx42 Wrote:bug: deficiency in "Don't Record Duplicates" logic - the logic does not consider episodes that have already been recorded by single recording requests or by a recurring recording request under a different group id.
sub Wrote:This should already be fixed in the current release. I forgot to note it.
I'm not seeing any change in this area. Most of the "Big Bang Theory" episodes recorded tonight are already in the ready recordings list.
1. Does the XBMC Addon stream the files as they are, or does it transcode them?
2. Would it be possible to transcode with selectable bitrates.
3. Would it be possible to have access to the videos/pictures/music via the XBMC Addon that have been mapped to npvr.
4. If 2 & 3 are possible, then the last question and more like a need would be for some type of authentication for the module.
I realize it might need to be a second module since this one is geared toward clients and not placeshifting, but it would enable playing over the internet with another xbmc and having npvr being a complete backend. Also having the option for multiple placeshifting backends would be great!!!!!!!!!
One really cool, i mean really cool thing is that if you have 2 different levels of permissions for that authentication, would be a full and read only.
The reason I say this is that, I would love to give my sister-in-law in Virgina, access to my library and my mother-in law in south Georgia access as well, but not be able to modify stuff(i have the bandwidth). I wouldn't want bad people having access to it either.
No idea where to post this so thought I would start here in the familiar and friendly forum of NextPVR. (BTW nice to see a whole xbmc sub forum going, I guess that makes life easier, at least to start)
gEd did advise sticking this on the xbmc forum as per this post:
