  Recording Indicator on screen
Posted by: mvallevand - 2012-10-06, 04:58 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

I have noticed that when a show is recording the "Currently Recording" display stays on the screen for a long long time after it finishes. Is this normal?

  NextPVR Presence on xbmc wiki
Posted by: steeb - 2012-10-05, 10:51 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (36)

Dear all,

just chucking this out into the community for now.

sub has provided an add-on to xbmc's new backend pvr capability in the latest release of NextPVR.

As usual sub is ahead of the game and has written, from my initial testing, a very solid add-on to xbmc.

Martin has also been working on an xbmc add-on.

My question is how do we document this?

What I mean by that is we have screenshots etc of certain NextPVR configurations. I think that for now these are sound....

My thought is to use the clients/extenders section?

And rename it to something else?

all thoughts most welcome! I am just itching to start writing some of this up but cannot do so until I am secure in my world of where to put it!

And yes, a load of this can be put I presume in the xbmc wiki, but I think some basics need to be in the NextPVR wiki?

thanks and cheers as always

Updated to latest version but now device not recognized
Posted by: pinnacleprobs - 2012-10-05, 04:49 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I downloaded the latest version. I had read earlier about copying certain files and pasting them over the old ones but when I opened the download it was just about installing the program. I let it reinstall. After restarting I tried to record but got "no device" and then an unhandled exception message which I've listed below. I've tried recording now for several days but the same error. The recording device has been working for months now and continues to work on a Cyberlink video editing program. I do remember I had a hard time getting all the (over my head) technical adjustments to make my card work when I first installed nvpr a year ago.

This is the latest error message:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

Icons, thumbnail & fanart support in API
Posted by: wileecoyote - 2012-10-05, 04:46 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (24)

@Sub,
I noticed this commit a few days ago -> https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/1455 it allows icons, thumnails & fanart for recordings. Other than timeshifting, this is like the last piece of the pie for me Smile

I know NPVR already has the channel icons available, but what about thumnails & fanart? I don't think the fanart is critical, but NPVR doesn't create thumbnails for recordings does it?

If I should post this in another forum please let me know.

Thanks!

  live tv keeps jumping back
Posted by: reven - 2012-10-05, 07:46 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (25)

anyone else noticed that live tv sometimes jumps back in the stream?

for example on my pi (and on an openelec HTPC) i was watching tv (sd) and it jumped back and showed about 30 seconds prior to where i was, then when it got back to where i was, it jumped back again.

stopped the stream and restarting it, temporarily fixed the problem but it came back.

i'll try and get some logs if i see it happening again.

didnt want to mention this if only on pi, but since happening on proper htpc thought I'd report it.

i do realise this isnt much help without any logs...

  playback issues onlyunder NPVR
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2012-10-05, 04:36 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Does anyone have playback issues under XP and NPVR?

Specifically, most programs will only have black video, audio is present. Some few play back Ok. Live playback is always black video, audio present, unless I've intentionally broken it by audio decoder choice.

Same recording plays back perfectly in VLC, so the recording is OK. Quality is a little fuzzy, I have a bit noisy digital cable going thru a convertor to analog hauppauge hvr-1600.

WinTV 7 plays live, plays recorded items fine.

I've tried EVR, VRM9, VMR9 enhanced decoders, installed SAF pack to try ffdshow.

The only thing that fails is NPVR. i've had this issue for at least three release, posted about it once before.

Basically I use npvr to record stuff and I've just been playing back in VLC.

GBPVR is still installed but not running, a long while back I tried playing some of these recordings in gbpvr and they played.

The only thing that I can think is doing it is the noise in the recording; but I don't know why npvr would have issue when vmr9 decode in gbpvr does not. Nor VLC, etc etc.

I've kinda given up spending time trying to fix this for quite a while due to lack of time, that I'm not sure what would be useful to post here for troubleshooting. I doubt graphics card chipset or recording issues since everything else is happy.

Any thoughts? Mention any util output or logs useful to attach, I'll do so.

Thanks!

  duplicate recordings
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2012-10-05, 04:26 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

johnsonx42 Wrote:bug: deficiency in "Don't Record Duplicates" logic - the logic does not consider episodes that have already been recorded by single recording requests or by a recurring recording request under a different group id.

sub Wrote:This should already be fixed in the current release. I forgot to note it.

I'm not seeing any change in this area. Most of the "Big Bang Theory" episodes recorded tonight are already in the ready recordings list.

  XBMC questions
Posted by: skl111 - 2012-10-05, 02:36 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (7)

Sub,

1. Does the XBMC Addon stream the files as they are, or does it transcode them?

2. Would it be possible to transcode with selectable bitrates.

3. Would it be possible to have access to the videos/pictures/music via the XBMC Addon that have been mapped to npvr.

4. If 2 & 3 are possible, then the last question and more like a need would be for some type of authentication for the module.

I realize it might need to be a second module since this one is geared toward clients and not placeshifting, but it would enable playing over the internet with another xbmc and having npvr being a complete backend. Also having the option for multiple placeshifting backends would be great!!!!!!!!!

One really cool, i mean really cool thing is that if you have 2 different levels of permissions for that authentication, would be a full and read only.

The reason I say this is that, I would love to give my sister-in-law in Virgina, access to my library and my mother-in law in south Georgia access as well, but not be able to modify stuff(i have the bandwidth). I wouldn't want bad people having access to it either.

  XBMC support with NextPVR
Posted by: steeb - 2012-10-04, 09:29 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (19)

Dear all (and probably mostly sub Big Grin )

No idea where to post this so thought I would start here in the familiar and friendly forum of NextPVR. (BTW nice to see a whole xbmc sub forum going, I guess that makes life easier, at least to start)

gEd did advise sticking this on the xbmc forum as per this post:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post442847

which I will of course do if that is where I should be addressing this question?

My problem is as this is all new I am not sure where I should be addressing my question Wink

I am talking here the built in capability that sub has put into NextPVR as a backend to xbmc.

I am still an old dog and afraid to say that everything is running on XP!

I have my backend NextPVR server and tried testing the xbmc add-on on a front-end machine as pointed to me by gEd on this post:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post442730

everything looks good, pvr client enabled etc etc.

Firewalls have been down. (Norton on front-end - security essentials on NextPVR back-end)

TV shows as an option (well actually it says "LiveTV" IMHO that should just say TV?!)

As soon as I click on "LiveTV" I get a very honourable message from xbmc telling me that:

"No PVR Clients have been started yet. Wait for the PVR Clients to start"
"Please check your configuration or check the log for details"

Well I have set the xbmc log into debug mode and nothing shows at all about what I am trying to do.

I have no idea what the NextPVR PIN is in the settings of xbmc? Is that the same password I give to the NextPVR webserver?

In which case it would be helpful if the 2 terms could marry up?

For once I cannot provide logs as there are no logs of any help Big Grin

cheers

steeb

p.s.

should have added -

Can access NEWA fine from same client machine so would not have thought firewalls etc were the issue?
