OSD with Overlay -- Not working at all
Posted by: msmith8228 - 2012-08-10, 07:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I have done some searching in the forums and the OSD should work in Overlay Renderer mode (although I understand that transparency may not function) -- the problem I am having is that in Overlay mode I do not get any OSD at all. I need to use Overlay in my particular situation as it works best with my graphics configuration (WinXP SP3 with a fairly old Nvidia Graphics card). I have reproduced this problem on four different PC clients -- so something is not right.

I have tried at least six different Video decoders -- all with the same effect -- no OSD with overlay so I am assuming that this is not an issue with decoders. Is there something simple that I am missing?

  PIP with Hauppauge remote
Posted by: McBainUK - 2012-08-10, 06:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

johnsonx42 Wrote:If you're using a Hauppauge retail remote you'll need to add a couple of lines to irremote.ini. '*' needs to generate SHIFT-8, '#' needs to generate SHIFT-3, like an MCE remote does.
Can anyone help me with this? I've tried *{shift}8 #{shift}3 but has no effect.

  Ghost in NPVR?
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2012-08-10, 09:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

This morning I was having a late morning coffee while watching the news channel, in the back of my head I was wondering what was going on in the London Olympics then suddenly a PIP window opened and showed me the sports channel! All by itself, I had not touched neither the remote nor the keyboard since starting live tv. The pip window stayed open and I could swap the pip/main. So, is there a ghost in npvr or does it do some kind of mind reading? Big Grin

Has anyone else experienced this?

Give NPVR absolute priority on PC
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2012-08-10, 06:41 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Is there a way to give NPVR top priority on the PC when streaming? I used to be able to give nrecord a priority boost in the task manager, but it disappeared a few releases ago.
Generally I have few problems, but every now and again if I'm doing some other work on the server while someones watching TV on a client it can interrupt the playback, and the clients then tend to hang completely, rather than catch up or restart TV.
I suppose making the clients a bit more resilient to glitchy streams would be another option.

Client black screen on live tv
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2012-08-10, 06:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Do these logs show why one of my clients sometimes/often black screens and hangs when first trying to watch live tv in the morning. It always seems to work second time without fail after force closing NPVR and restating.

Getting it to work : No audio, no record button.
Posted by: Duke Nukem - 2012-08-09, 10:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

OK, I've installed nextPVR, tuned in channels but whilst I can see video there is no audio at all.

Using GraphStudio, I can see that nextPVR creates a DirectShow graph that, by default, uses Ffdshow for audio decoding which I believe is a sensible codec. However I have tried forcing others via the settings->devices options, but still no audio. It is using the default audio renderer, which works in other apps.

If I bring up the menu during live TV I can see Track 1 (MPEG1,eng) and Track 2 (MPEG1,eng, visually impaired) but selecting them does not bring in any audio.

So, how do I get audio ?

Secondly, how on earth would I start a recording as there is no record button or record option in the menu when viewing a tv channel ? Please tell me I don't have to switch to the Recordings section and start a manual recording after filling in a form :-(

TTFN,
Jon

Logs & hang when deleting videos
Posted by: b00sfuk - 2012-08-09, 09:38 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Been having occasional problems for some time with NPVR hanging (not responding and need to kill via task manager) while deleting videos from the video list screen. Also getting the odd 'unhandled exception' when scrolling in video lists. I think it is connected to when there is fanart/folder/episode metadata/jpg files present. The same symptoms on both 2.4.3 & 2.5.5 and also after reinstalling Windows.

However, as it hangs nothing useful seems to be in the logs, so before I post them, is there any settings to increase logging to the maximum to see if I can get something interesting before the hang? NPVR seems to default to debug logging and I also think I can put <ExtendedLogging>true</ExtendedLogging> in the General (not MVP) section of config.xml but is there anything else that can be done? Thanks

  Unable To Mount .iso
Posted by: z06racer66 - 2012-08-09, 01:17 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hey everyone, prior to a motherboard failure, I was able to mount an .iso file just fine using NPVR 2.4.3 plus patches. Since rebuilding the machine I have been unable to mount an .iso file via NPVR. I was running NPVR 2.4.3 plus patches through #7. I then upgraded to NPVR 2.5.5 plus patches through #5.

A snippet of the log file is as follows:

2012-08-08 19:43:55.503 [DEBUG][1] running: K:\ -unmount 0
2012-08-08 19:43:56.303 [DEBUG][1] running: K:\ -mount 0,"\\QNAPNAS\Multimedia\Video\Music\AC-DC - Live at Donnington\AC-DC Live at Donnington.iso"

2012-08-08 19:44:03.971 [DEBUG][1] restoring last aspect ratio

The following is a snippet from my config.xml file:
<DVDDrive>D:\</DVDDrive>
<DaemonToolsExe>C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe</DaemonToolsExe>
<DaemonToolsDrive>K:\</DaemonToolsDrive>
<DaemonToolsDelay>3500</DaemonToolsDelay>

The exe location is correct and the virtual drive that is created is K. I can double click on the .iso via Windows Explorer to mount it and then select the .iso within NPVR to watch it. If I select a different .iso, the previous .iso will not get unmounted so it will play the currently mounted .iso.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

what's a good streaming media player program?
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2012-08-08, 10:57 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

what do people use these days if what they want is easy access to internet media with a 10-foot interface? I've got a client with a big monitor connected to a win7 PC in their waiting room, they want it to entertain clients waiting, and probably to watch themselves during lunch and after hours. I got the NBCOlympics site working through the browser, but after awhile the player would freeze and IE would have to be re-started. Then they asked me to put the CNN live feed on, and that worked fine. But going forward they'd like to have something they can access with a remote and select different content and live streams.

At home I've had some good results with PlayOn and Universe on NPVR, but NPVR and therefore Universe wouldn't be an option at a business location. Would I just use PlayOn with Windows Media Player 11 as a front end? Or some other solution? Ideas welcomed.
