  event_details in SCHEDULED_RECORDING
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-01-25, 02:51 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

An example of the 'event_details' data of a pending scheduled recording from my npvr.db3 (I've cut the actual element values for clarity)...

Code:
<Event> <OID></OID> <Title></Title> <SubTitle></SubTitle> <Description></Description> <ChannelOID></ChannelOID> <StartTime></StartTime> <EndTime></EndTime> <FirstRun></FirstRun> <Aspect></Aspect> <Genres> <Genre></Genre> </Genres> </Event>
Are these the only elements ever stored in the event_details field or is it based purely on what is available in the EPG_EVENT table?

For instance, I don't have any data for my star_rating column as the RT site isn't currently providing it. If I did, would the <Event> include a <StarRating></StarRating> element (for example)?

  Cannot skip after a few minutes on a digi rec'ing, channel group bug, filetypes, ?'s
Posted by: Torque - 2012-01-25, 01:33 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hello,

I just made the switch to NPVR from GBPVR and have a few questions.

1) Is it normal for my SD recordings from a Haup PVR150 svideo input to be recorded as .ts file instead of .mpg like it was with GBPVR?

2) I have 2 channel groups i added; "favorites" and "subscribed". The channel group reverts back to all channels after watching something. Is there a way to make the group stay till i tell it to change?

3) Previously with GBPVR, if a recording was scheduled and only one tuner had that channel available, it would kick the user out of live tv to record it. Noticed on Sunday that we had something scheduled and it never kicked us out. Only until I exited Live TV did I see the recording start (I can see the IR blaster tell the Sat box to change channels). Is this behavior be changed to make the recording the priority over Live TV?

4) When trying to watch a show recorded using my HDHR (using NPVR), I can skip forward/back during the first few minutes of the recording. Anywhere past that, if I try to skip forward, the screen goes black (or images freezes) and I notice the HDD activity go up dramatically. Eventually it kicks back to the recordings menu after about a minute. I have been able to watch the recordings for a good 30 minutes if I don't try to skip forward so it seems the data is there but maybe it's a timeline issue?. Previous recordings made using GBPVR from the HDHR work fine so I don't believe this is a decoder issue. I don't have any problem with skipping forward/backward on the recordings from the PVR150.

One of the shows in question was "Alcatraz" recorded last night. I recorded it both from the PVR150 (the recording that started on 2012-01-23 19:54:00) and the HDHR (the recording that started on 2012-01-23 19:56:00) just in case the HDHR version was messed up like mentioned above (and it is). I tried watching it today at 17:37 after rebooting the PVR.

Thanks.

  @buttonCount
Posted by: mvallevand - 2012-01-24, 10:35 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I notice that the EventDetails.xml popup uses a visible method I don't understand

Code:
<Image source="@previewImage" visible="@buttonCount=4" location="12.5,44.5" size="15,32" fixedAspectRatio="true" /> <Image source="@previewImage" visible="@buttonCount=5" location="12.5,49.0" size="15,29.5" fixedAspectRatio="true" /> <Image source="@previewImage" visible="@buttonCount=6" location="12.5,54.0" size="15,24" fixedAspectRatio="true" />

How you set @buttonCount?

I've tried

args["@buttonCount=5"] = false;
args["@buttonCount=6"] = false;
args["@buttonCount] = 4;

But they all seem to return visible=true

  Supported graphicfiles within videolibrary
Posted by: ShiningDragon - 2012-01-24, 09:20 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - No Replies

Could someone please add the following to this page (with better words than mine): http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...adata#toc3

folder.jpg/folder.png
Will override the appearance of the default folderimages from the used skin.

<filename>.jpg/<filename>.png
Will display coverart of <filename> on the screen.

fanart.jpg/fanart.png
Will change the wallpaper according to the saved fanart.jpg/fanart.png in a subfolder.

Difference between .jpg and .png
The most interesting differences between both compression formats are, that .jpg is better suited for photos and .png has better capabilities for non photorealistic graphics.
The second difference is, that .png support transparency what can be useful in some situations.

  System went to sleep in stead of a wake up
Posted by: Sheik Yerbouti - 2012-01-24, 08:40 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I had a failed recording last night. "Recording service not running at recording time". I looked in the windows logs and I see something strange:

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

So there's a power event from the recording service and at the exact same time the system goes to sleep? I should mention I'm no expert in reading Windows logs Smile. The npvr logs show "Requesting wake up for 'RecordingOID3968' at 23-1-2012 22:53".

  “Recording service restarted during recording”
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2012-01-24, 08:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I noticed the error message this morning by chance as the recording was not marked as “failed” or having a problem. The programme ran from 08:00 to 09:05 so the recording starts as expected at 07:57 but stops before 08:00 and only generates an 18MB file. There are no “errors” in the Window logs at this time but the “NPVR Recording Service” starts at 08:01 and the starts recording a new file as normal.

I cannot see anything helpful in the log files but the last entry in ndigitalhost.log.1 at 07:58 is:-
DigitalRecorder.StopHost()

Enclosed are the logs all of which seem to have restarted just before 08:00

  Changing video decoder cures several NextPVR problems!
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2012-01-24, 05:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

I had been checking out the Skip forward and back on the Server and Client to post on a thread on the subject and noticed that the picture had a tendency to lock with the sound continuing more often than on the previous version. For some reason which I cannot remember I decided to try the LAV decoders on my client so removed the Cyberlink decoders which came with my tuner and all others installed. The LAV decoder seemed ok playing MPEG2 video until I tried skipping forward or back when the picture would freeze most times.

If the LAV decoder made it worse perhaps a different one would cure the problem. The ffdshow decoders were the next obvious choice but I previously had lots of problems with these, but that was when I was using XP. However changing to the ffdshow MPEG2 decoder seems to have cured several minor but irritating problems with my NextPVR client and server:-

1) Skip Forward and back now seems far more reliable and have yet to see a picture freeze.
2) Failed playback of recordings at first attempt no longer happens.
3) Resuming a recording no longer plays a second or so at the start of the recording first.

I am using Vista, the EVR renderer, the Vista MPEG audio decoder and all the recordings are SD MPEG2. I think Sub has said that decoders were going to be cause of some of these problems but the Cyberlink decoders had previously seemed the most reliable.

  scripts not running in 2.3.6 build
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2012-01-24, 04:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Last night I did some test recordings and it looks like none of my scripts (postprocessing.bat and parallelprocessing.bat and maybe updateepg.bat) didn't run. Paralellprocessing just had comskip and postprocessing just had one line to output %1 to a text file. Is there a switch in the config to enable this or is it done automatically?

I seem to be having a lot of problems setting this up Sad

OTOH, I've been stealing backgrounds from xbmc and they work great using submenu!!

  HD Recordings With Set Top Box / STB
Posted by: BTJustice - 2012-01-24, 12:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

HD DirecTV STB
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800
MCE Blaster

I have always wondered this. I know with my current setup that I can only record using analog so my recordings are at 720x480. Is there a different setup I could do to have HD recordings using my HD DirecTV STB?

  BUG: Recurring Recordings Update (NPVR 2.3.6)
Posted by: BTJustice - 2012-01-24, 11:43 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

I think I found a bug. If you go to your list of recurring recordings and select one on the list and click UPDATE then click OK then REOPEN it, the record quality resets to DEFAULT. I always set mine to BEST but they keep reverting to DEFAULT.
