NPVR's DTV works great now (after few hours of testing different settings). However, I haven't succeeded to give any life to the DVD playback function. When I select the DVD function, only a blank screen appears. Changing the decoders did not change anything.

Sometimes (not always) when I select "Stop", question about resuming playback appears just before the main menu is displayed. No such question is displayed before "Stop" is selected from the context menu.

In the log there is some Direct3D problem; however, DirectX has been updated as specified and graphics drivers are up-to-date. However, I think that it should not prevent DVD playback because DTV works without any problem.

I did not want to add too much new trash to the other thread, so I am starting this one. I tried restarting the server and also reinstalling mvpmcx2 using NMTInstall2. Both cases give me the same cannot find telnet error. This is both from run and dos prompts.

I've decided to finally give Universe and PlayOn a serious try. I'm just wondering if you have any thoughts on running the PlayOn server on the main NPVR box. How heavy is it? Does Universe have any problem connecting back to PlayOn on the same computer?

Ok, the end goal is to do a bit of post processing with handbrake and then copy the newly created .mp4 to a network share.

I've found several scripts which would fit the bill and with a bit of modification, they work great for renaming and post processing to .mp4. Got all that working fine.

The copy part has me stumped. For the life of me, I can't get it to copy the file to the network share.

Just to eliminate all the variables, I made a completely stripped down PostProcessing.bat with just the copy command and a little logging so i could track it. I got it to work form the command line, but it doesn't work from the post processing after recording a file. The output from the log file works fine in cmd too, so I think it's right.

What am I doing wrong?

I have tried and tried to edit my index.htm file to work to launch NPVR from a usb stick but can't get it to work. Everything works if I navigate from the PCH Start menu to the folder on the stick and click the NPVR.html file, but I can't get it to automatically start from the index file like I did when I was using a network share.

Does anyone have a working index.htm file that works with a USB launch? I can edit it to my liking (I think) as long as I have something to start with.

I'm having trouble with the voice track on digital stations. On one I can manually select track 2, (which is a pain) and the volume is OK.
On another station selecting track 2 kills all audio.
I was using AC3 filter but changed to Hauppage AC3 with no effect. "use only mapped" is checked.

Any ideas?

I'm deciding between a Colossus and DCR 2650. At this point, the Colossus is overall less expensive ($2/mo cablecard plus $49 install fee for the DCR) at the cost of one tuner and tying up the STB during recording. The two devices are essentially the same price at the moment. Copy freely is not an issue on my cable system, at least for now.

I can live with the STB issue and a single tuner, but I'm not sure if the 9500GT video card can handle the h.264 recordings of the Colossus. I know it can handle HD MPEG2 that the DCR would output.

So, can anyone confirm (more or less) that the 9500GT can/should handle h.264 and which decoder would be "best" for this. (Need DXVA as I understand for good h.264.)

I have recently started using the latest HDPVR beta drivers and they seem to be working very well and I have been able to set my STB to output the raw feed for the first time. I now have a problem with NPVR using the resolution of the first channel tuned resulting in using the wrong bit rates.
