2.1.4 - Recordings Plugin really slow.
Posted by: psycik - 2011-07-05, 09:31 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (30)

Hi sub, as discussed earlier I'm still finding the recordings plugin really slow.

Will enclose a Log and the XML file, as It should show you the sorts of times we're seeing almost 30 seconds or longer.

And that the xml file has those two "don't check missing recordings" options set.

Check around 2011-07-05 19:36:15.691 onwards where the wife was starting to watch my kitchen rules. When she hit the end of this recording it took a really long time to get back to the menu, and in this time she'd hit the stop button which resorted everything.

How do I Import Recordings from GB-PVR
Posted by: olbricht - 2011-07-05, 03:33 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

My operating systems crashed (Vista 64 with GB-PVR). Since I was not able to restore the system, I took the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 and nPVR. I got everything working and would now like to import almost 2TB of recordings into the nPVR. Although I can't execute the old system, I can read the data from the drives.

I found the Import Recording function but I do not know where to find the xml file from the old GB-PVR system. How do I go about importing these recordings?

Mount problem after windows 7 sleep
Posted by: Sheik Yerbouti - 2011-07-04, 08:04 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (6)

I''m using the following command to mount a map in windows 7 that has some DVD's in it:

Code:
mount -t cifs //192.168.1.83/Videos /mnt/D:\\Videos/ -o username=guest,ro;

This works fine, just one little problem: after my windows machine goes to sleep and I wake it up with the nmt, the mount isn't working anymore. And I can't seem to unmount it or remount it. A reboot is the only solution that works at this moment. Any ideas how to script this issue?

  New Tuner Suggestions
Posted by: jathef - 2011-07-04, 05:29 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I currently have 3 PCR-150 tuners and my cable company recently switched our service from analog to digital requiring a STB. Fortunately all of the channels I care about are unencrypted QAM so I think I can get a new tuner to get back in business.

Couple of questions:

- I read in a few posts that a single tuner can record multiple shows with a digital signal. Can I get a single tuner to record 3 simultaneous shows with a QAM source?
- I have a mix of remote devices including MVPs and PCs. I would like to have the option of recording high def shows to watch on my PCs. If I don't know which client will be used, I am assuming I would just have two recordings - one with hi-def and the other on the standard channel right?
- What tuner would you recommend as a good replacement and why?

Thanks for you any help you can provide!!!

  HD-PVR Client/Server Woes
Posted by: smajor - 2011-07-04, 03:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (25)

I was waiting until 2.14 to post this, hoping the update would help. In just the past few weeks I've moved to a permanent client/server model with NPVR.

I'm having a re-occurring, random problem with my HD-PVRs arranged in a client/server setup. Often, I start LiveTV and it works great. When I stop LiveTV and attempt to restart it, I'll get the "please wait..." dialog and it'll just sit there and time out.

If I go and visit the server, I'll see the HD-PVR it attempted to use has it's "bling" lights on. It is as if the "stop" livetv command from the previous viewing on the client isn't stopping the HD-PVR, which then fails to start up the next time.

NPVR still thinks that HD-PVR is in use for LiveTV. The only way to reset it is to exit out of NPVR on the server, power cycle that HD-PVR, and startup NPVR again.

I have two HDPVRs connected, I've swapped them around to make sure one isn't behaving badly (one is actually brand new). It has randomly happened with both.

I've made sure firewalls are off on both client and server as well as used the actual statically assigned IP address server address on the client instead of relying on DNS.

Server and client are hardwired on a GIG switch (not a router, a real switch.)

Any advice would be most appreciated.

NPVR + Pinnacle PCTV 80e = no clearQAM
Posted by: pvruser - 2011-07-04, 03:25 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I'm trying to upgrade to NPVR using a Pinnacle PCTV 80e but I can't get clearQAM to work. OS is win7. ATSC works fine, QAM doesn't. In all fairness, I don't know whether QAM works properly on this tuner (don't have any other way to test it). I do have clear channels (TV tunes in).

I see 2 tuners:
PCTV 80e/290e/460e BDA 2875 TVTuner C (QAM)
PCTV 80e/290e/460e BDA 2875 TVTuner (ATSC)

I tried the "ATSCMode => 2" registry trick from other posts but didn't work. I also deleted the temp file from the dotnet library and restarted. What I see in the logs is:

About to submit tuning request
Unexpected error on ATSC put_TunerRequest: 0x80070057

Any help is appreciated!

Best way to share certain recordings when I'm away
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2011-07-04, 02:56 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I'm off on holidays this week and I'm wondering if there is an easy way for me to record the F1 this weekend then download when I'm abroad.

I could just use NEWA to download the recording, but my home upload speed isn't great and I'm worried the connection at the end I'm downloading it will flake out half way through.

Ideally for this single program I'd like my server to post process it into h264 to get the size down, then add it to my drop box, that way at the other end the file is small and download speed will be limited by dropbox not my home up speed.

Any ideas what might be the easiest way of doing this, at the moment I'm thinking of just leaving VNC running so I can remote in and do it manually.

Has anything changed here? Thanks

  Technotrend Budget S2-320
Posted by: trummel - 2011-07-03, 11:55 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

The recent changes in the BBC HD broadcasts on UK FreeSat seem to have caused a problem with my TT S2-3200 card. It still works fine for the SD channels, but it creates zero length files for BBC HD and BBC1 HD.
I get this in the nrecord log

Code:

I've noticed that it is described in NPVR as TechnoTrend BDA/DVB-S Tuner. The windows device manager describes it as TT-budget S2-3200(BDA). ISTR that in GBPVR, we had to tell it to use the TT S1500 driver to talk to this card. Is it possible that whatever NPVR is doing to drive the card is not recognizing as an S2.

My PCTV 460e is also an S2 card and that tunes and plays the BBC HD channels just fine.

Any suggestions?
