Will A Hauppauge Colossus work in 1.4.7?
Posted by: hondophred - 2011-06-29, 05:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I know there is support of the colossus in NPVR 2.0.3 but I really didn't have any luck getting that working correctly with my setup. (multiple tuners + multiple brands of tuners leading to multiple entries for each channel in the guide)

Has anyone tried / does anyone know if GBPVR can support the colossus card? I had a couple of HD-PVR boxes working but one of them is currently in the process of dying (clay faces, banding, and streaking) and I wanted to replace it and the colossus looks like the better option all around.

NZ Freeview, DVB-T - varying resolution in different parts of NZ?
Posted by: time_lord - 2011-06-29, 10:10 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Hi, I'm based in Wgtn, use DVB-T and get a nice HD signal (i.e 1080 vertical resolution), eg on TV1. But recently I was in Tauranga, looking to set up an npvr box for the folks... but I noticed their TV1 only reporting 576 resolution.
They have a fairly new Sony TV and I was tuned into digital via the TVs built-in tuner.
Anyone know if the DVB-T resolution is transmitted lower in some parts of the country than others? I.e before I go any further I am wondering whether this is the standard res there, or whether they have a reception problem? (I doubt the latter because they got a new terrestrial aerial at the same time as the TV.)

Cheers

Slow / delayed resume after skipping while paused
Posted by: buzzydotinfo - 2011-06-29, 09:49 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (72)

Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been discussed. Two possibly separate issues:

First up, nPVR seems to lose its location in a recording if I skip around while the recording is paused. If I pause at 03:00, and skip backwards using CTRL+r, the OSD shows:

02:46
02:48
02:37
02:30
02:36
...
and so on. It's not skipping back evenly in 10s increments, and sometimes even skips *forward* several seconds. Skipping whilst playing works just fine; I get an even 7-8 second skip as expected.

If I stop pressing CTRL+r and start pressing CTRL+f, the time continues skipping backward for another couple of key presses before starting to skip forward. When it does skip forward, it's also not in 10s increments. If I switch back to CTRL+r, it continues skipping forward for another couple of key presses before starting to skip backwards; still somewhat erratically.

Secondly, and possibly related: I pause a recording, then skip backwards 10s, then play. It takes several seconds (somewhere from 4 to 12 seconds) to start playing again. When it does start playing, it will play from the original pause point or thereabouts.

The more skipping around, the longer the delay until play resumes - during some of my experiments on the first issue, nPVR took upwards of 2 minutes for play to resume.

Has anyone seen similar issues?

  Spam Handling
Posted by: steeb - 2011-06-29, 08:02 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Dear all,

just looking for clarification from experienced spam handlers Big Grin

Since sub installed the spam-o-matic function things have been lovely and quiet on the spam front. One slipped through a few minutes ago and not knowing what it did I used the spam-o-matic option to deal with the threads/user.

This now shows as:

1 Spammer Permanently Banned

under spam-o-matic statistics. Which wasn't probably my intention. Better to just use the standard 'delete posts as spam' option rather than the spam-o-matic one?

cheers

steeb

  MCE remote query
Posted by: buzzydotinfo - 2011-06-29, 07:25 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hey everyone,

I've got a PVR-150 and Hauppauge 45 button remote. The 150 is purely used to handle the remote via the Hauppauge IR32.exe. I use a Logitech Harmony instead of the Hauppauge remote.

I'm looking at an MCE remote with a USB receiver, but I can't find any info about how the MCE remote works.

In the Hauppauge irremote.ini file, I've got sections for itunes, VLC, and nPVR. in iTunes mode, IR32 kicks off VBscripts to drive itunes. When in PVR mote, it sends key presses to nPVR, and so on.

Can you do something similar with the MCE remotes? i.e. customise what buttons do depending on the active window, or set a mode, or anything analogous to that? Or is it hard-coded to send specific signals to the active app window?

Recording video format - and how to edit?
Posted by: gryzor - 2011-06-29, 07:07 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hello,

For a project I'm doing I need to cut and splice TV recordings. If I understand it correctly, the output is mpeg4 (H264), correct?

Well, is there a way to change this? Alternatively, could someone tell me, if they know, of a free video editor? My needs are very basic, just cut and save various segments... Was going to use VDub but unfortunately it doesn't seem to support this format.

Thanks so much once more,
T

  Using JSON with C#
Posted by: bgowland - 2011-06-29, 12:18 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

I've been doing some searches and have a few angles on some libraries I can try but just thought I'd ask here to see if any of the community techs have experience of this.

I want to use JSON to serialize/deserialize some simple objects between my nDroid client (native Android app written in Java) and nDroidService (PC-based service written in C#).

Just interested if anyone with any experience of Java <-> C# comms using JSON has any pointers.

Cheers,
Brian

  Windows 7 SP1 - multiple RDP Sessions
Posted by: psycik - 2011-06-28, 08:44 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Has anyone tried any of the patches for doing this?

I had it on my XP GVPVR system, so that you could go into a secondary account via RDP and not affect the running GBPVR session running on the console.

Obviously with rebuild to Windows7 I've lost this ability. Its kinda a hack but was SO useful.

  NPVR Import recordings commandline option
Posted by: psycik - 2011-06-28, 08:06 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

I see in http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ineOptions

That there is no mention of an import recordings xml file function. Is this a documentation oversight, or a feature that doesn't yet exist?

Of course as a follow on, if that feature doesn't yet exist could it make a return? Big Grin

  crash on channel scan
Posted by: owilsky - 2011-06-28, 05:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hi,

I am evaluating nPVR at the moment (currently SageTV user, but you know the problem :madSmile

nPVR crashes when scanning my channels (DVB-S, Astra 19.2°E, 2 x TT connect S-2400) -> see Log1.

After restarting nPVR I went to Settings/Channels and again got a crash -> Log2.

I installed 2.0.3 with Patch R1.

Any ideas?
Regards,
Oliver
