Photo Copy Channel Lineup in Linux
Posted by: boukmandutty - 2023-06-15, 05:10 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (11)

I dont get  the option to copy channel lineup on my Linux server the way I do in windows. On windows I get a prompt to copy the first set of channels I set up which makes things so much easier when you are working with more than one of the same kind of extra.

In Linux I have to add the second set manually and since the channel source is the same the list becomes distorted. I then have to merge the list with its duplicates by name. Is this by design, or I am doing something wrong?

Looking for a full offline Windows install
Posted by: RedDawg - 2023-06-14, 04:06 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (6)

My dvr is not connected to the net (no updates necessary, no anti-virus, stripped down, best performance).  In the past, I was able to find a full offline install file for nextpvr on the website, but I've looked extensively, but no joy.

Thanks in advance for your help ...

  Enhancement Request?
Posted by: meluvalli - 2023-06-14, 07:42 AM - Forum: NextPVR iOS and AppleTV Clients - Replies (1)

Hello.  I was wondering if there was a possibility of adding a "Search" function in guide.  Would be nice to be able to search for a show so you can program it to record from AppleTV.  I know it's been over a year since we have seen a AppleTV app update, so not sure if there were any plans on updating it further or not.

Other nice to have would be "Up Next" feature.  AppleTV usually shows you what to watch next based on app/show.  Not sure if it's possible to include this in that feature of AppleTV or not.

Thank you for a great program overall!

OpenWRT with tvheadend on old router...?
Posted by: V_J - 2023-06-12, 09:51 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hello,

Has anyone here tried to install TVHeadend on OpenWRT on a router?

At my inlaws, one of their old routers is giving unstable wifi. The router is an Asus RT-ac51u (running next to a DSL-N16u), so we'll upgrade the network infrastructure to some mesh.
The ac51u has a single usb port but only has 100 mbit ports, so there is little point in repurposing it as a switch or a network storage and with the old wifi standard and wonky wifi also little use as an access point. But it apparently supports OpenWRT ( https://openwrt.org/toh/asus/rt-ac51u ). From what I read, it should be possible to install TVHeadend to make a network tuner (using a USB DVB device), as there is a package ( https://openwrt.org/packages/pkgdata/tvheadend ).

Given that there is not much other use for the router, I would be tempted to try it. Worst case I brick an old router with no other functionality (I will repurpose the DSL-N16u for network storage: it has 2 usb ports, gigabit and does not support third party firmware).
Any success stories on this topic? Or other comments?

Thanks,

Jörg

There are some workarounds to disable KB5022083 and go back to the old way it worked, but with all kinds of security warnings.

  OlSkool skin for NextPVR v6
Posted by: Jaggy - 2023-06-11, 03:59 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - No Replies

You can find the skin here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid582659

There are also a few easily user changeable options

You can change the colour of the navigation items & fonts.

Go to "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)" & look for
"Global.xml.Bright-BrightBlue"
"Global.xml.Bright-BrightPurple"
"Global.xml.Bright-BrightRed"
"Global.xml.Mid-BrightGreen"

(close NextPVR.exe if you have it running) then pick the colour you would like to try & "copy" it somewhere out of "Program Files"
rename it back to "Global.xml" then move it back into "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)" over writing the one in there.
(there are also a lot more options in the skin\OlSkoolwhichEverSkin\_Global folder) Itm=Item, Fnt=Font, B=Bright, D=Dark, M=Middle)

There are four options for the display of the Recordings views.

recordings2.xml.HasChannelIcons-10Tiles-HasMetadata
recordings2.xml.HasChannelIcons-12Tiles-NoMetadata
recordings2.xml.HasNoChannelIcons-10Tiles-HasMetadata
recordings2.xml.HasNoChannelIcons-12Tiles-NoMetadata

The same basic procedure as for the Global.xml but in the skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)\Recordings folder & for recordings2.xml.
Copy the one you want to try somewhere (out of Program Files) then rename to recording2.xml then move into the Recording folder overwriting the original.

There are also two options for the TV Guide
Guide.xml.(6Row)
Guide.xml.(10Row)

again the same basic procedure but in the skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)\TV Guide folder & for Guide.xml
Copy the one you want to try somewhere else then rename back to Guide.xml then move into the TV Guide folder overwriting the original.
(just a note for the 6Row guide it is best to also change the <VisibleGuideMinutes>120</VisibleGuideMinutes> in config.xml to 180 or 240)

  OlSkool skin for NextPVR v6
Posted by: Jaggy - 2023-06-11, 03:55 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (3)

Try something different.

It is an Old School style skin that uses lots of the display area & also displays things like the timeline & position indicator at the top 'like it used to be done'.

It comes in three variants, 'Blue & Grey' (which are really just different background images) & a 'Retro' version with retro images for some of the backgrounds.
It has been tested on NextPVR.exe 6.1.2 & later using win10 & win11 (it also displays on the uiclients like nlite & uidroid etc.)

https://mega.nz/file/XdQTgBLC#XyFZgcJ_0V...YfjYGyiic8

To install unzip the OlSkool download somewhere (not in Program Files) & then copy the skins into "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin"

Run NextPVR.exe, right click & select settings>General in there you can select the Active Skin (don't worry about the image it shows there) & you can also change/select the Menu Style.

There are also a few easily user changeable options that I will document in the support thread here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid582660

  Play music from browser
Posted by: VCR58 - 2023-06-10, 03:34 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I would like to see the option to play music from a web browser. I would probably use this feature when listening to music remotely.

The web client will allow me to view the music folders and album artwork but it doesn't play mp3 files. Currently I am using Jellyfin which works fine, but it would be nice to use NextPVR for music instead.

  Manual channel inputs/editing (back end?)
Posted by: Mr Whippy - 2023-06-09, 10:15 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (15)

I'd discontinued use of my NextPVR for 18 months as I moved house. I've just had a satellite dish installed so setting it all back up.

I use Astra 28.2E UK Freesat channels.

Plugged into the PC, not all working fine.

Some channels not working, others working ok.

It looks like some of the Freesat channels have been jigged around.

My nicely choreographed EPG/channels list is now all messed up.

Part of the problem, despite re-scanning, is that the new channels that replace old ones (like BBC HD is now regional, not UK wide) needs swapping in, but the old channels that are no longer functional are not removed.

Since I don't want non-functional channels, the only way to check seems to be to test each one to see if it works, or delete all my channels and start again?

It'd be really great to just use kingofsat.net or some similar resource to just grab the frequencies and input numbering (Freesat box numbering for example) and build my list manually.

I'd pretty much just finished this task before moving house, so to have to start over again now is a bit frustrating.

What have other users done in this regard?

The brute force seems to be to re-scan, save, then go check all channels, remove all those that don't work, and then re-number everything to fit where it should.

Many thanks

Dave
