screen saver kicks in when viewing slide show on NPVR
Posted by: steveum - 2010-11-28, 02:19 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - No Replies

I noticed that the screen saver will kick in when I start watching a slide show on the NMT with NPVR. Is there anyway to disable the screen saver when viewing a slide show?

SubMenu - A main menu replacement supporting sub menus
Posted by: imilne - 2010-11-27, 07:48 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (47)

You can read this thread for some background info to this (http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...evel-menus)

The plugin itself is now on the wiki: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...in.SubMenu

"SubMenu" is a plugin to replace the existing main menu, duplicating its functionality and adding the following:

- support for sub menu groups
- the ability to rename any plugin

Eventually, it may even support some of the other ideas knocking around in the wishlist thread (eg a vertical layout, or something with fanart backgrounds).

I'm sure there'll be problems, hence posting it now for early feedback...

Wireless MVP - not getting IP number
Posted by: lucille84 - 2010-11-27, 06:12 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hello,

Changed from Belkin54G to a Netgear N600 router.

When starting the Wireless MVP I get prompted to select an SSID from a list, then for a WEP key - all as expected, after accepting this the MVP reports it connects to the access point but cannot get an IP address.

This is probably a router issue not an MVP issue but I have no idea where to start with diagnosis of what might be improperly set.

EDIT - now I find that my wired MVP reports the same 'can't get IP' errror.

Any hints or ideas (or reprimands) that lead to where to start for fixing this are greatly appreciated,

  Homeland Security seizes domain names
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-11-27, 05:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Homeland Security seizes domain names.

The investigative arm of the Homeland Security Department appears to be shutting down websites that facilitate copyright infringement.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days, according to TorrentFreak.

ICE appears to be targeting sites that help Internet users download copyrighted music, as well as sites that sell bootleg goods, such as fake designer handbags.

The sites are replaced with a note from the government: "This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations."For instance, 2009jersey.com, 51607.com, and amoyhy.com have each been seized.

One of the site owners told TorrentFreak that his site was shut down without any notice or warning.

The effort come as Congress considers the Combatting Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA). Critics, including Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) say it is too heavy-handed. He has vowed to put a formal hold on the bill.

  Mygica/AnyTV - No channel, Strength: 0, Quality: 0
Posted by: kevinchu - 2010-11-27, 04:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I just bought a Mygica A680B USB dongle for ATSC/QAM. TotalMedia 3.5 works fine, can tune, watch and record. GBPVR detects it is as a AnyTV USB Tuner. The AnyTV section in bda.ini matches the FilterCheck output. However, when I tried to tune during mapping, GBPVR could not find any channel. The strength and quality constantly remained 0. I cannot figure out any clue from the logs attached below.

Thanks in advance for any hint and suggestion.

First recording fails most of the time: "No BDA capture filter for this device"
Posted by: alibert - 2010-11-27, 09:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hi,

I'm upgrading to NPVR at the moment, and it seems that the first recording from one of my tuner cards fails most of the time. "First" recording means the first recording after starting the computer. If I then restart the recording afterwards, it records just fine. The capture card is a re-labelled KNC1 DVB-C with BDA drivers.

With the same results, I already tried different drivers in different versions, including the original ones from "Satelco" and the vanilla drivers directly from KNC1 with modified .inf files to match my device model. I also tried to change the setting "KeepDigitalGraphsContructed", but the results were the same.

I'm also not sure if the same happened in GBPVR/PVRX2, maybe because there the second chance recording kicked in as the recording file not grows, and I just did not recognize the failing recordings.

I've attached the NRecord logfile showing the problem as described: Started a recording (no file is written to disc), cancelled the recording, started the recording again (records fine).

  Failed recordings with stuck tuner
Posted by: Barsk - 2010-11-27, 09:32 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Hi,

I have had a number of failed recordings for a few days and I have finally found the cause. One of my three tuners was stuck in some state that rendered it nonfunctional. The logs have this to say:

Code:

If the "state" that this tuner is stuck in is in some way possible to recover from, that would be the best solution. Maybe some sort of "reset" via the BDA API? I had to reboot the machine to get the tuner working again, restarting the NRecord service did not help.

If that is not possible, i. e. the problems are due to driver bugs with my Terratec card and no fault of NPVR, then a better error handling would be appreciated. The above logs indicates at least two error that could be captured and handled:
2010-11-27 09:08:31.530 [ERROR][7] ConnectFilters:Failed(2)
and
2010-11-27 09:08:31.562 [DEBUG][7] Unexpected error on DVB-T put_TunerRequest: 0x8000FFFF

My suggestion for how to handle is to capture the error, maybe retry the procedure and if still not working, flag the tuner as nonfunctional and try another tuner. The nonfunctional state should at least be written to the logs and preferably be presented in the GUI as well. Maybe in the Recordings list?

The situation now is that the recordings fails silently without any error indication. The resulting recording is zero bytes. If I had known I could have taken precations. Luckily there are re-runs Smile

TV Listing doesn't move back a page at a time from the PCH "Rew" button
Posted by: BrettB - 2010-11-27, 04:44 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (4)

I'm using a PCH for my client. When I'm in the TV Listing, if I press the "Fwd" button, the guide moves one page (of time) forward. However, when I press the "Rew" button, the grid erases, but then just redraws with the same time-period and program listings. Moving forward and backward a day at a time works just fine. And moving forward and backware with the arrow buttons works just fine, too.

Wishlist: Manually toggled colored dots for TV Recordings entries
Posted by: BrettB - 2010-11-27, 04:24 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (4)

Alibert,

Thank you so much for porting TV Listings and TV Recordings to npvr. I've really been missing them!

If you are working on TV Recordings, I'd like to suggest that you consider adding a little bit of new functionality:

When a specific recording is selected, have it so that pressing the green button on the remote would toggle a green dot on and off, pressing the yellow button on the remote would toggle a yellow dot on and off, and pressing the blue button on the remote would toggle a blue dot on and off. In our household, we have multiple people watching the recordings often at different times. We would love to have a way for "the system" to indicate when each of us have watched a recording so that it can be deleted. As has been discussed elsewhere, trying to have it automatically detect and record this information is quite prolematic. However, a simple system where we would just manually toggle our assigned colored dot on once we've watched a recording would work quite nicely, I believe.

  Quick Start to Live TV
Posted by: gotenks - 2010-11-27, 03:37 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi guys,

I would like to launch NextPVR directly to Live TV mode on a channel. I have already tried to set the UI Mode to TV Viewer but channel won't start until I right click and select Live TV. Maybe I can fix that through command line or whatsoever?

Thanks!
Gotenks
