Hi,
I'm pretty new to N-PVR. Trying to set up the npvr for the first time. In the DEVICES tab, my tuner is listed as Type: ATSC, Device: U3100mini ATSC Tuner. I'm using Comcast cable. Scan process takes several minutes and no (zero) channels are found.
What am I missing ? Should the device be listed as QAM for it to work ?
The reason I ask is I would like update an external media database (NMJ for the 200 series PCH's) but I might run into a problem after a file is renamed by another utility from show_date to show_subtitle_S#E# Does Postconversion (if it exists) pass the changed name?
If not would it be possible to have the SCHEDULED_RECORDING oid added as parameters to Parallel/Post Processing batch files?
I have seen several posts where people have written they have no problem with EVR but don't want to use it. I have used EVR since sub introduced it and I think it works really well. I don't understand the concern what is the downside to using something that works?
Was set up this evening to record three overlapping shows.
Pre-padding set to 1 minute and post padding to 2 minutes. (times are for the show, excluding padding).
Two tuners available for all channels involved.
Pre-padding for (3) is missing (as is the start of the show ;( )
(1) 2000-2100 Beenys restoration..... Channel4, freq 69000
(2) 2030-2100 Traffic cops BBC 1 546000
(3) 2100-2130 Have I got news for you BBC 1 546000
(1) started a couple of minutes late because of me and finished at the expected time, including post padding.
(2) started and stopped at the expected time including pre and post padding.
(3) started at 2100 with no prepadding - (show is still on so still recording.
(2) has the start of (3) at the end of it -as expected due to post padding, showing simultaneous recording works.

I'm new to making my own PVR but have had it with DirecTV's fees. I have a Dell desktop PC that I plan to convert into a dedicated media PC and I'm looking for recommendations as to what Tuner card to get.
The PC has 3 PCI slots, but no PCI express. It runs windows XP.
I live in San Francisco so there are lots of over the air digital channels. I don't care if it records analog of cable or analog broadcast, I won't be needing that.
I'd like to get a card that can record two shows at once or let me watch one while I record another.
I'd like to get a card that can record HD if a show is broadcast in HD.
The TV I'll playing back into is a Sony 720P one with HDMI input as well as VGA and component & composite.
There's a cable-modem speed internet connection at the TV, and we have a netflix subscription and Hulu subscription, so if the card can take advantage of this that would be great, and hopefully the gbpvr software can help capture and manage as much of this content as possible.
Aside from getting a video card, a wireless keyboard, and a really big fast hard drive is there any other hardware I need? I guess I need something that can receive remote signals. CUrrently I have a logitech harmony programmable remote, so I would rather set up something that I can program my current remote to operate, rather than have to have a second remote just for the computer.
As you can tell, I'm asking newbie questions, and would appreciate any suggestions you may have about the best card for my situation.
What remote key is used to arrange the sort order of recordings? Mine were sorted a-z at first, but now they are z-a. I suspect I hit some remote key to cause the change, but I don't know which one.
