  New beta mvpmc dongle for N-PVR
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-09-05, 08:32 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (64)

I have uploaded a beta version of the mvpmc dongle that supports N-PVR a little better. http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/mvpmc_npvr.7z 1.5.31 is required.

My experiences so far

- old analog recordings stored as mpg seem to play and skip ok
- new analog recordings stored as ts play and skip ok (does not use timing.info)
- ac3 audio files can sound like *** and will be out of sync but play
- live tv play but you need to increase the rolling file size for long play time.

Be sure to set <TranscodeTsForMVP>false</TranscodeTsForMVP> in config.xml

I think this should be a new beginning for MVP users who want to use N-PVR. Let me know your experiences

Updated 2010-09-18 was sending PTS too early

How would one make a donation to the author of this plugin?

Is this plugin being ported to NPVR? I haven't switched over yet & am sort of waiting for this plugin before doing so.

  1.5.31 beta available (6th September)
Posted by: sub - 2010-09-05, 07:17 PM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (40)

I've updated http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe to v 1.5.31

If you're upgrading from an earlier build of 1.5.x, you need to make sure you stop the NPVR software before installing. In future releases I'll make this automatic, but thats not the case yet.

Mostly just small changes and bug fixes in this release:

Quote:- slight improvements and bug fixes on the new .ts skipping (extending it to NMT playback etc).
- several timing.info related changes to support mvpmcx2 skipping
- reduced activation area around button strip
- fixed a problem where closed captions could appear when playing DVDs in north america
- added <ForceMpgGraph> setting for those that prefer to disable the default 'true' and allow directshow to decide on the graph.
- added work around for ffdshow decoder problem with DVD playback
- added SRT subtitle support
- slightly improved text rendering
- fixed a bug with initial video aspect ratio
- added ability to view tv guide over live tv.
- fixed an aspect ratio problem that could occur in certain circumstances
- fixed a problem with the selected audio renderer sometimes not being used
- added logic to send .ts files to MVP if <TranscodeTsForMVP> is set to false.
- added manual recording popup. This provides more functionality than GBPVR's equivalent, with an 'advanced rules' field that can be used to define some fairly complicated conditional rules. Eventually I may create a popup to create the rules for people, but for now they can either leave the advanced field alone, or write a sql clause. For example, to record all shows with the 'news' in the title on a particular channel, you can define a daily recording and set the advanced rules to: title like '%news%'
- fixed an issue with wake before recording being requested relative to the start time, rather than the beginning of the prepadding.
- added a setting to force digital graphs to stay constructed, giving slightly quicker live tv / recording startup times, and to hopefully work around a problem with HDHR device.
- fixed a problem with additional files (edl, txt etc) not being deleted when old recording are auto deleted to satisfy the 'keep' count, or when deleted from the Video Library.
- fixed a couple of bugs with the playlist popup in the music library.
- fixed an issue that could cause temporary files to be left behind after watching live tv.
- fixed an audio renderer problem.
- fixed an issue that could cause live tv files to be left behind
- fixed a schedule issue that was causing problems with recordings scheduled from NEWA
- when live guide is started from live tv, it starts on current channel

  NPVR: No Live TV display with NMT, PC works fine
Posted by: pathfinder - 2010-09-05, 06:46 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (4)

When I bring up NPVR on the PCH a-100, Live TV and recording don't work. Screen goes black for 2 seconds then returns to the menu. Live TV and recordings work from the NPVR PC. WinXP pro firewall disabled. mvpmcx2 (date 04/16/2010) is on the hard drive of the PCH. I ran the new NMTInstall2.exe on the NPVR PC. I have GBPVR running on another PC and the NMT works fine with that PC. The NPVR PC is a new winxp install. Do I need to update the mvpmcx2 file on the NMT or change some config files? Attached log and NPVR PC \mvpmc directory.

  PC Client Stutters Whenever OSD Is Shown
Posted by: JacobK - 2010-09-04, 05:27 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

On my PC client the video (either Live TV or Recorded TV) plays fine until the OSD is shown. Then the video freezes and stutters for about 5 seconds. I've tried all of the different renderers with no luck. Any suggestions?

  EWA: Cannot set recordings from search screen
Posted by: Caligula - 2010-09-04, 04:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

If I go into the Episode Search section and try to set a recording for any of the search results, I immediately get this:

Quote:Server Error in '/gbpvr' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

This also happens if when in the TV Guide section, I click a channel name to list all the shows for that channel and try to set a recording from there. There doesn't seem to any log messages generated from this error. I have the log directory open on one monitor and a browser in another, and when I replicate the error, there is no activity in the log directory.

My setup does including saving recordings to a network drive using a script/service that someone on this forum wrote (forgive my memory).

And I just wanted to say thanks for writing such great software; it really is perfect for what I need. I rarely watch live TV, and I use the EWA exclusively to record shows to my network server and then watch those shows using various media extenders and mobile devices. It really is a great piece of software.

EDIT:
Also, after reading the initial error message, I did run the EWA from the machine that is running gbpvr locally, and I got the same error, with multiple browsers.

  Hotel TV Question...
Posted by: Jimdish255 - 2010-09-03, 09:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Should I be able to scan a hotel cable coming from the wall.

My Device choices are:

QAM ATICQAM Digital Tuner
DBV-T ATIDBVT Digital Tuner
ATSC > Antenna doesn't get squat here
QAM ATIBDA Digital Tuner

Any other settings in the program that might help regarding the scan?

Thanks

  7.4 Earthquake in Chirstchurch
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-09-03, 06:15 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

sub, I hope all is well with you in Wellington. Reading the news in Christchurch it's reported it was felt in your town as well. Hopefully, it's not bad.
I've not been able to contact friends in Christchurch as some power is out but it appears there was damage to bridges and property.
