  NEWA fails to schedule recording
Posted by: nappysolo - 2010-09-01, 01:45 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (10)

Any attempt to schedule a recording using NEWA fails. The following appears in the log file. Any ideas?

  Thumbs
Posted by: steeb - 2010-09-01, 12:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Dear all,

apologies if I missed this somewhere. I did try searching forums Smile

How does NPVR work with thumb images for Recordings/Music Library/Video Library?

I'm on XP currently, I have 'found' a thumbs folder in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Thumbs

that seems to have amazingly poulated itself with Music artwork from Windows Media Player Library

I also have:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Media\Shows

Which appears to hold images for my recordings

Where are images for Video Library held?

And does my artwork for albums have to keep the generic Windows Media Player Names like:

I bet as usual I missed something Big Grin

Cheers

Steeb

  Loosing HD
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-08-31, 01:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I merged my local HD channels and noticed that when watching HD live, then switching to an analog channel then back to the original channel, it only displays that original channel in analog. Previously, before I merged the locals, going back and forth worked perfectly.
Why does the channel first play in HD then after switching to analog and going back to any HD channel that was merged, does it grab the analog side and not the digital?
Sorry if I've not explained this well.

Problems with season recordings - doesn't select right time & day
Posted by: servalan - 2010-08-31, 05:05 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (23)

I've just started using NPVR - I was using GBPVR which was working ok. GBPVR is now no longer running & the system has been rebooted after installing NPVR.

I'm having hassles with season recordings - again worked ok on GBPVR.

When I set NPVR to record a particular show in a particular time slot every weekday, it chooses to record the first show correctly, but then lists all sorts of timeslots & weekends for that show while missing the timeslot I actually want.

What am I doing wrong? What other info should I be providing? Or is NPVR too new & I should go back to GBPVR?

I'm running 1.5.28 of NPVR & have applied all the the recommended patches.

e.g. Select a show for weekday recording, hit 'Record This Episode'

& this is the result:

Please recommend tools for cutting / encoding H.264 HDTV.
Posted by: Thunderflash - 2010-08-31, 12:22 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi there.
Can someone recommend tools for cutting and encoding H.264 HDTV ?

For cutting, I'm currently using "h264ts cutter" but it doesn't seem to be accurate in cutting. Usually end up with 1 or 2 seconds more than what I have specified. Always must trial and error with the timing to get a precise cut. Looking for other alternative. Thank you!

As for encoding, I'm currently using "Handbrake" and "Xilisoft HD Video Converter".
Is there any other softwares which can convert H.264 HDTV into other formats? Prefer softwares with GUI rather than command lines.

Thanks for helping . ^^

  question about Timing.Info ADS
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-08-30, 07:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Sub,

Can you think of any reason why NPVR would not use the Timing.Info ADS stream on a file even though it's there?

I had a 3 1/2 hour recording tonight (the wife's Emmy Awards show) that acted like it had no Timing.Info. When she first started playing it (after the recording was complete), I noticed right away that the timeline looked a little odd: the end-time of the timeline was increasing and decreasing quite a bit as we started watching, just like it would with a pre-1.5.28 .ts file without the Timing.Info. I checked over the network, and the Timing.Info was definitely there and complete. It settled down as she got several minutes into the show, so no worries I thought.

Then at about 1 hour and 33 minutes into the show, both ends of the timeline reset to 00:00:00, and skipping was no longer possible. Again, this is common pre-1.5.28 behaviour, a minor glitch in the transport stream. I exited and restarted playback, but the timeline reset at the same spot.

Fortunately I had also recorded the second showing of the Emmy show, and that one was far enough along at this point that I was able to just skip to the same spot and let her finish watching the show skipping through all the lame speaches.

After the second recording completed, I started playing around with the Timing.Info. I copied it out to a temp file and then removed it from the problem recording, and found the timeline reset at exactly the same spot, and in general the playback acted just like it did when we played the file earlier.

After fiddling around a little more, I put the same Timing.Info back on the file, and found that it will now play all the way through the file without problems. The timeline is also now perfectly consistent right from the beginning of playback - the end time shown is 3:29:59 from the first moment on to the end of the file, it doesn't hunt around like it did when we first played it.

So it seems clear that NPVR was not using the Timing.Info data at first, even though it was there, but did use it later on during my testing.

At first I wanted to blame comskip, which was still running against the file at the time we had the problems; I was thinking that maybe the way it has the file open somehow prevented NPVR from reading the ADS. However, the second recording is clearly playing with the Timing.Info, yet comskip is still running against that file as I write this (comskip takes about 40 minutes for every hour of HD here).

I know this is a bit convoluted, but any thoughts at all on what could make it ignore or be unable to access the Timing.Info? It doesn't log anything about it when it reads the Timing.Info so it's hard for me to provide you any more detail.

  NPVR IVideoPlugin
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-08-29, 10:46 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (19)

Is IVideoPlugin ready for use? How does a plugin inform NPVR that it wants to be shown? Is there any user config required to enable an IVideoPlugin?
