Weather2 in non-development
Posted by: scb147 - 2010-07-07, 02:53 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (1)

With GBPVR PVRX2 application being shelved for NPVR, I am putting Weather2 into a "non-development" state.

This means that I will not be adding an new features/enhancements to the plugin in the future. If a bug would appear that breaks the current build, I will fix it at my earliest convenience.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

  NPVR Tuning generates "unhandled exception"
Posted by: trumps - 2010-07-07, 11:09 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Using Win XP pro and Hauppauge 3300, DVB-S port.
I have installed, set up and used NPVR. Worked well but did not find the SBS channels.
I investigated the tuning ini files and added the settings for SBS (12646,V,12600) then found that the Optus D1 NZ Freeview ini had these. While trying to use the ini I modified NVPR Scan kept generating Unhandle exception. After an evening or two I fully uninstalled NPVR, deleted all /Program/npvr files and those in doc/applicationdata/npvr as well as all registry settings found.
Rebooted and then re installed.

Still same problem using the ini tuning files in the install pack.
Renamed the log file so a new "clean" one is created from one scan attempt. The error message at the end of log is the same as the unhandled exception.
Log file attached
Where to next?

1.5.24 no Live TV HD Video
Posted by: bdgillard - 2010-07-07, 10:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

After updating to 1.5.24 I have lost HD Video on liveTV, SD channels are Ok

If I record an HD channel from the guide and play it back as I record I get the HD video displayed.

The channels are BBC HD and ITV HD using EVR rendering and Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD10).

Any ideas

  Blue-Ray and HTPC / GB-PVR
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-07-07, 08:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

I'm considering buying a new TV (Big Grin) and I'd like to eventually watch HD movies on it via Blue-Ray.

Some questions:

 • What's the situation regarding Blue-Ray playback on GB-PVR and HTPC's in general?
 • Can a PC handle all the Blue-Ray features that a standalone player can; for example fancy menus, the BD live thing and so on?
 • What codecs/software/hardware would I need?

  1.5.24 beta available (7th July)
Posted by: sub - 2010-07-07, 01:56 AM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (96)

I've updated the installer at http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe.

If you're upgrading from an earlier build of 1.5.x, you need to make sure you stop the NPVR software before installing. In future releases I'll make this automatic, but thats not the case yet. I'm also am aware of one issue with upgrading that can cause the media directories to be reset to the default. I wasnt going to have time over the next couple of days to fix this, so decided to get the release out anyway.

Changes:

Quote:- fixed an issue with setting "What's New" as the default Recordings view.
- fixed a problem with starting in fullscreen mode that could cause the app to appear without a window frame, but not filling the screen
- now creates metadata.xml ADS stream like GBPVR
- added ability to move capture source up/down on the Devices screen to adjust the device priority. Top down priority.
- a minor tweak in to the text shown in Analog capture source to make things less confusing
- fixed a problem with playing H.264 recordings with the Microsoft H.264 decoder.
- fixed a problem with remembered sort orders in Recordings screen
- fixed a crash that could occur when scheduling recordings
- channel changing by number key no longer requires 'enter' key (though enter key can still be used to speed up the process)
- libraries no longer show hidden/system directories.
- fixed a problem that was causing AAC decoder selection to be forgotten
- added setting to run recording service at higher priority
- fixed a problem with remembered window that could occur when killing application when it was minimised
- now/next popup now shows channel icons if they're available
- fixed a crash that could occur in the music/video/picture library
- added support for control via PostMessage id=0x8007, wparam set to the keycode you want to send.
- fixed a live tv problem that could happen if the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NPVR registry key wasnt found
- now able to config MVP control and media ports using <StartPortControl> and <StartPortMedia> config.xml settings
- fixed a problem where screen could be black after stopping playback on the PCH
- now shows the settings screen automatically
- added config.xml upgrade procedure
- fixed a problem with clicking the window Maximize button to switch to fullscreen
- added setting to hide ATSC/DVB Radio stations in TV Guide.
- fixed a problem that could cause xmltv channels to become empty after the second automated EPG update
- removed old-sytle recordings screen.
- if the app is left on the TV Guide screen then after a few minutes of inactivity it'll begin to auto select the currently airing show on the selected channel and will continue to update as time moves on.
- fixed a problem that stopped the top-right clock from working on the PCH/MVP
- fixed a problem that could cause the screensaver to activate as soon as PCH/MVP connects
- hopefully fixed a problem that could cause recordings to be marked as failed with 'Recording service not running at recording time'
- '@channelIcon' can be used in the recordings2.xml or EventDetails.xml to display a channel icon
- '@previewImage' can be used in recordings2.xml to show
- can now define common colors in the Global.xml:
<Colors>
<Color name="Test" color="Yellow"/>
<Color name="Test2" color="Forward:Black-Green"/>
</Colors>

When the PCH goes to start mvpmc I get a totally grey screen with the following error at the top left:-

cp: cannot open '/opt/sybhttp

Guess this is a Linux error but I don't know how to fix it.

It can browse my network etc so IP looks good.

NPVR crashes and reboots the computer
Posted by: agerdin - 2010-07-06, 05:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

sub,

Several times during testing of NPVR, the program crashes and reboots the computer. It happens normally when trying to watch live TV but I am not really sure if that has been the case all the times. It gives me the blue screen for a short while and then the computer reboots.

Since I have not yet transferred fully to NPVR, I thought to wait a couple of more beta releases to see if the problems remains but as I was able to capture a dump file I thought I would hand it over to you to see if you can tell anyting from it.

Not sure if I can recreate the problem but next time it happens I will try to also save away the logs.

btw, I am on XP running NPVR 1.5.21

Hauppauge running MVPMC stops without apparent reason
Posted by: StevHodge - 2010-07-06, 04:41 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

I run 3 Hauppauge MVP boxes off a Windows XP - 3 server. I use MVPMC as Hauppauge box OS, which is loaded from the server.

Inexplicably quite often play back just stops, and the Hauppauge box seems to do a software reset of some kind - ie it doesn't go through the cold boot routine, just starts running the emulation again. I get the GBPVR mainmenu very quickly - max 30 seconds

I cannot figure thopugh why it just stops. I am attaching a verbose log of last nights events, when it stopped twice. You can see that it starts for the final time at 20.08.02.987, starts the playback round 20.09.10.284,chunters on quite happily for 20 minutes or so then at 20.26.50 799 it suddenly stops - control thread lost etc. What i cannot see is whether this is being caused by the Hauppauge or by something in GB-PVR. Could be the haupaauge I suppose. i have had them a few years and one of them already had to be replaced - or is it GBPVR??
There are two logs in the zip the -2 one is the one to look at. the other one just shows the Hauppauge restarting after it crashed

Any help gratefully received. it is driving me & the wife mad
