Whilst I wait for all the bells and whistles to appear in NPVR, just wanted to set up a new USB tuner for GBPVR.
It isn't in the BDA.ini so I will need to update. I have added the filter check log file. It is the UB-450 T. This is what I thought I would need to put into the BDA.ini but it doesn't work:
hello martin, very nice job with webradio 3.0 that was fast and kind of what pushed me over the edge to start trying npvr.
ive added the sirius channels that you helped out with in another post but when i go to play one i get a popup that says no external player defined.
i havent installed uburecording service or vlc either, both of which were needed in webradio 2. are these required or where can i define the external player vlc.

I'm able to use 1 keyboard and mouse to share the monitors of 2 systems by using Synergy. Works great, is free and I get rid of a keyboard and mouse for one system. Simple as moving the mouse from one to other.
But, I want to check into using the 2 monitors together with both systems. I think I need a KVM switch to do this but I'm curious if anyone is doing this and if so, what's the best way.
Ideas anyone?
I seem to have a query about how to setup all the satellites in nPVR.
I have a Torodial T90 which is then hooked up to a multiswitch.
My problem is that there are 8 inputs to the multiswitch (4 H/V combinations of 22khz on/off).
As there are 8 inputs - there could theoretically be 8 separate satellites being input.
With the current nPVR device method of created a mapping - if i choose Diseq A & B - i only get chose of 2 satellites. If i choose Diseq 1.1 it gives me choice of 4 Satellites. It would be good if there was a CUSTOM option rather than having to choose one of the pre-defined combinations of single lnb/ diseq 1 / diseq 1.1.
If i used all dual output lnbs - then 4 satellites would fill the multiswitch - however i only have dual output lnbs for Optus D1 & D2 and the rest of the satellites i can access are single inputs into the multiswitch.
How can i mimic the setup as per GBPVR?
Under GBPVR - each satellite card i have has several capture sources - mainly for the EPG side of things (however i see nPVR you can map EPG per channel now rather than per capture source which is great btw).
However I could have a capture source for each satellite, and adjust the H/V and 22khz to get it to the right input.
for example.
OPTUS D1 could be say 10700 LO1 / 0 SW / 10700 LO2 / diseq A (both V and H)
OPTUS C1 could be say 10750 LO1 / 22000 SW / 10750 LO2 / diseq B (V only)
IS8 could be say 11300 LO1 / 22000 SW / 11300 LO2 / diseq B (H only)
thereofre C1 and IS8 use one of the multiswitches satellite slots.
This is also the case for AS4 and IS5 (not currently in use now that only C band).
Im sure this is definitely the exception - but from what i can see of the device setup under nPVR, i will essentially lose the ability to access all the satellites i can currently access under GBPVR.
If anyone has a good workaround - im ready to hear
I know that nPVR is only in beta - so this isnt urgent - but until i can get access to all the satellites i have the ability to access under GBPVR, i would be somewhat hesitant to upgrade when it becomes RTM code.
From what ive seen of nPVR so far - its looking great however
When I browse the folders from the Video Library I see metadata for some folders but not for all.
But all have folder.xml and series.xml and I can't see the difference between them.
What kind of metafile do Npvr go for first?
This is not a big problem but it odd. When I watch live TV or record analog shows on PVRX2 and play them back on my HDTV, they have the small pillars on the sides as expected. Now, with NPVR the pillers are much wider and the picture is closer to a square. Not fully a square, but not normal like the show would be viewing with the tuner or from PVRX2. If I play the recorded show from PVRX2 back on NPVR, the show looks normal. I am using the exact same decoders in both programs and have switched decoders in both and get the same result. I also have tried playing with the aspect functions of some of the decoders with poor results. I have also played with the aspect ratio features of NPVR with no luck. The only thing I can think of is that the sofware decoder has something to do with this since it is an analog device?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but all the searching I've done of the forum doesn't give me a conclusive answer (saw a post from 2007 saying it wasn't working for recordings). I'm talking about subpicture kind of subtitles as broadcast in UK.
If the answer is h/w dependant then does anyone know if the Hp NOVA TD-500 would work.
I am getting tired of ts time line issues. I now fix all ts files with videoredo after recordings are done, but skipping and going back during playback is problematic and often the system will just exit playback. It appears to have more problems going back in the time line than going forward. I thought the files had issues, but even with videoredo the behavior is the same.
Is there a switch to make playback use NMT video player permanently rather than having to press USB before the OK button? If not, it would be a nice feature.
I've just done a clean install of WinXP sp3 + .NET 1.1/2.0/3.0/3.5/3.5sp1 + DirectX 9c June 2010 + WMP 11 + Latest Hauppauge HVR-1700 (x85) drivers (Mar 2010) + latest video drivers + PowerDVD8 Cyberlink h.264 codec + VCredist - all on a different box to the one in my signature. I've been having problems getting both GBPVR 1.4.7 and MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC4 working smoothly (without stuttering) on it, so thought I'd try with a fresh machine.
Signal quality is 100%. I'm 3km from Mt KauKau, line of sight. Quality RG6 Belden cable.
Installed NPVR, then went into Settings.
Lockup occurred in the middle of a scan for channels. Had to "End Task".
Restarted the app, re-made all my lost selections (Country, Transmitter, etc), then I exited the app without rescanning, so they would all be saved if the same thing happened.
Started up the app again, and rescanned for channels. This time it completed.
Then went to "Update EPG" and that scan then locked up the app.
CPU usage during lockups was only 1%.
I restarted the app and went straight to LiveTV. It told me that "C:\Temp" buffer folder does not exist.
I went back into Settings to change it, and realised that I didn't have a formatted C: drive - I'd blindly not noticed that the OS had installed itself onto F:\ !! :eek:
So your code may assume that the C: drive is active and healthy, and have some hard-coding in it when suggesting the buffering folder, maybe...?
So I changed the buffering drive to F:\ and LiveTV worked...mostly. (Had many lockups when changing channels, so I'll try install and try out a few more codecs first, before I report that as a problem. I'd only installed one h.264 codec, so need to install others before proceeding).
However, before I go any further, do you think I should continue with my system drive as F:\ , or just reinstall again, and make sure it goes on to C: this time? If I do reinstall, what particular versions of .NET does NPVR need (Save me installing them all again!)..? And do I need to install WMP 11? (...for WinXP sp3, BTW)
Also, what codecs are you using, Sub? I'll find and install the same as you suggest, so I can hopefully eliminate codecs as a potential problem in future reports.
