Posted by: R60EST - 2010-06-19, 04:27 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Please can someone help me to locate a driver for my ATMT dvb usb tuner. I've had it a couple of years but recently installed windows 7 on my laptop and now it wont recognise it. I can't find my installation disc anywhere and I've tried site after site looking for drivers to no avail. Can anyone help

Thanks

MVP server - interactive services detection

When I select MVP servers to start I repeatedly get an Interactive Services Detection message. Is this a problem? How can I stop this happening?

things I never liked about GB-PVR that have now made it to Next-PVR....
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-06-19, 08:58 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

I probably should have mentioned this in the long UI design wishlist thread a couple of months ago, but I didn't think about it until now....

Why do recordings and video library get a completely separate menu item? Can't they be integrated together? What is so fundamentally different about a TV show or movie that's been recorded locally vs. a TV show or movie that came from somewhere else that they need such disparate treatment? Why can't a movie for the kids I just bought and ripped show up in What's New? It's new isn't it?

(yes, I know the technical difference is that recordings are in the database while video library items are just files... but why does the user have to be bothered with that?)

Complete integration may be a tall order straight off, but at the very least it should be simple enough to have the defined Video Library paths show up as additional menu pages in Recordings (ie, flip between What's New, Ready, Video Library path 1, Video Library path 2, Pending, Conflicts, etc.). That keeps the whole 'playing of files containing video' function in one place.

While I'm ranting, I've also never really liked the What's New list. I'd prefer just one list of recordings that's sorted by recording date, and grouped by program as well (ie, essentially the Ready list sorted by date rather than alpha). Therefore the top of the Recordings list is What's New by definition, but you don't have to go to a whole different list to see what isn't quite as new, or to see what other episodes you may have missed before the new one that just recorded. You should be able to push a button and change the sort order to alpha as well.

For a usage example of the last bit: I record Who Wants to be a Millionaire so I can laugh at the idiot who doesn't know some basic bit of science or tech knowledge for the $2000 question. I like to watch them in order. So I sit down and see a new Millionaire in the What's new list... but is it the only one or are there some others recorded? Some days I have 20+ shows recorded, so to scroll back through the What's New list looking for more of one show can be a lot of shows to look through. So I switch to the ready list, page all way down to W and watch whatever Millionaires are there. Now I'm done with those, what else is new? I'm in the wrong list, go back to What's New, see some other daily show is new, but again I like to watch them in order, so it's back to Ready, find that show, and so on.... Why can't it all be in one list?

Sorry, that was a wordy rant... it's late, I'm tired, and had a couple shots of this weird homemade blueberry vodka a business associate gave me...

U6012A QAM Tuner in Windows 7 - Device as DVB-C instead of QAM
Posted by: ak1i - 2010-06-19, 08:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (24)

Hello,

Just started trying NPVR using Mygica U6012A USB TV Tuner on Windows 7 and XP for QAM channels.

In Windows 7:
The QAM device is seen as 'Microtune Dongle Digital QAM Tuner', but the type is listed as 'DVB-C' instead of QAM. I selected 256 QAM and tried to scan. It did not find any QAM channels (quite obvious I suppose...).

In Windows XP:
NPVR only found the ATSC 'HDTV Stick Digital Tuner' but not the QAM Tuner. I do have the HVR-1600 QAM tuner also on this PC and NPVR was able to find the HVR-1600 QAM tuner as QAM device.

Thanks.

No Drive containing a DVD was found
Posted by: mattman1968 - 2010-06-19, 03:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

New program is very slick. Just wondering if I'm the only one that cannot play a DVD? Every time I try I get the following message: No Drive containing a DVD was found.
If I add my DVD drive to the video folder then I can play a DVD that way, but not through the main DVD menu. Not a big concern...just wondering since it works fine in GBPVR. Logs attached just in case.

Thanks,

Mattman

P.S. Also noticed that every day I have to update the EPG because every day it somehow gets wiped out and only displays (no show details).

Hauppauge HVR1600 showing up as WinTV 418 BDA?
Posted by: txinga - 2010-06-19, 01:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Thanks, Sub!

Really like the look of the new app. Looking forward to getting it all set up.

I'm running Win7 on an Intel CoreI3. I have WinTV working correctly via DirecTV to svideo input via my HVR1600.

I installed NPVR and my HVR1600 is showing up as a WinTV 418 BDA for ATSC and QAM and a WinTV 418 BDA Video Capture for Analog. I use XMLTV via mc2xml for EPG.

I would appear that the hauppauge blaster is changing the channels correctly. Well, it is in WinTV. I can see the light flash in NPVR but I'm not getting a picture on the screen.

Any thoughts to getting NPVR to tune the channels? I've used the import feature for the Analog device. Pointed to the xmltv file and selected svideo for the input source. I've also tried deleting the channels and re importing them using the default Tuner as the input source (while patching the cable from the rf out on the directv box to the rf input on the hvr1600)

Thanks,

txinga

  Re-record
Posted by: BTJustice - 2010-06-19, 12:25 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

This is not GBPVR's fault at all. Sometimes, I have a recording for a certain show scheduled automatically and the network showing it decides to change it to a different show. This happens a lot on The History Channel and Discovery.

It would be cool if GBPVR had an option to re-record a show. Like a button when you go to RECORDINGS and click on a show to open and watch. Upon seeing it is not the right show, you click the RE-RECORD button so GBPVR keeps an eye out for the show on the EPG so it can be recorded again.

  comskip is skipping comskipping
Posted by: soccerdad - 2010-06-18, 09:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (29)

Or better titled, "I don't know how to write a batch file to do this"

OK, I put comskip.exe and associated files in the C:Users\Public\NPVR folder. I know it works because I dropped a file on it and it starts. I wrote the following batch file and have it saved a PostProcessing.bat and put it in the same folder as comskip.exe:
c:
cd "c:Users\Public\NPVR\comskip.exe %1"

At the end of the recording nothing happens. I see in the log:

2010-06-18 17:02:01.755 [DEBUG][6] Starting: C:\Users\Public\NPVR\PostProcessing.bat D:\Recordings D\Maury\Maury_20100618_16001700.ts 7

I assume the .bat is incorrect, but I don't know what is wrong. Ideas for a poor comskipless soul?...
