I tried searching but didn't find anything... any word if this will be/is supported by GBPVR?

I just did an initial install of version 1.4.7 on a win7 64 bit machine. I'm using the Hauppauge 2250. I'm in Toronto Canada.

The OTA TV video looks OK, but the sound is coming out as an awful warbly screeching sound (unintelligible).

The Canadian channels during the scan have two versions: (000) and (000(AC3)). The U.S. ones seem to only be (000(AC3)), which is the sound codec, I think.

I tried both a (000) and (000(AC3)) version and they both have the sound problem.

MCE works for both audio and video (but I am trying GB-PVR because I want the network tuner feature for live TV)

I'm looking at the following collection to upgrade my GBPVR machine. I have a Hauppauge HVR 1600 tuner to put in it, 2 1.5TB SATA drives and one 750GB PATA drive.

I will be installing Win7 on the machine. Would have been WHS (Windows Home Server) but carbonite doesn't appear to play nice with WHS.

This machine will eventually go in the Living Room connected to an HDTV that has yet to be purchased. Right now my machine is just hooked up to a 19" LCD monitor. I use an MVP at them moment to stream to the LR.

I haven't decided on a video card. Any recommendations on what would be a good fit with this combo would be greatly appreciated.

I've started using CD Bremse (CD Break) on Windows 7 and it does an excellent job of slowing down my DVD read speed. But, after a reboot I have to enter all the settings again. Does anyone use this software and no of a method or setting to make it remember the configured speed settings?.

As an aside, when I try to select the "restart with windows" option it says "registered users only". But, I can't figure out what and where I can buy...

I really like MCEBuddy. It is well-written and works pretty well for making MP4 files from MPG files on a dual core CPU, but it works really fast and well on a quad core CPU.

Now on my MP4 files, I like to use 160 bit rate for the AAC audio and 1000 average bit rate for video. My converted MPG files look GREAT and are a lot smaller in file size with almost unnoticeable loss of quality.

To set up MCEBuddy...

1. Download MCEBuddy from http://www.mcebuddy.com/ and install it. There are both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
   
2. Go to "C:\Program Files\Tyrell\MCEBuddy\mplayer".
   
3. Open "mencoder.conf" with Notepad.
   
4. Add the code below to the top of "mencoder.conf" and re-save the file.
   
5. Open MCEBuddy.
   
6. Select "H.264 MP4 1000/160 TV (No Resize, 2 Pass)" from the drop-down list.
   
7. Check the boxes in front of DELETE ORIGINAL (at your own risk and only if you no longer want the original MPG file), SORT BY SERIES, and SUB DIRECTORIES.
   
8. Change FILE SELECTION to *.mpg and change the VIDEO PATHS SOURCE and DESTINATION to where GBPVR saves recordings to.
   
9. Click START to start the MCEBuddy service.
   

I found the directions for setting up my HVR-2250 tuner, but when i try to select the ... next to frequencies it is greyed out, and my country list only has 'All Countries', i'm trying to setup ATSC.

I was wondering if the GBPVR can support a external capture device via USB 2.0 . I have a Dazzle DVC101 capture device hooked up to my non dvr cable box. I can watch live programs but the recording software with capture device is horrible

I recently added a PVR500 to my system which was equipped with just 1 pvr350. After some juggling I got it to work by switching the pvr350 to capture source #3 and the pvr500 to #1 and #2. Running xp sp3, cable, all analogue. v1.4.7, no plugins.

I just found out that my pvr500's recordings do not have any sound. At least, many recordings made the past days do not have sound, and when trying (timeshifting) I discovered the pvr350 is the only good one.

I am watching everything on hauppauge mvp's so the audio codec's on the computer should not be of any influence right?

I ran filtercheck, and checked logs for 'missing capture sources', a problem I read about. No help either. Cannot confirm unfortunately if audio recording ever worked. I do think so but I am not sure.

also tried the small utility to identify the capture source number, but that doesn't even see the pvr350, while that is the only one working correctly!

Any ideas what to do? Don't have much time tonight, but I am thinking to uninstall gbpvr, put wintv on it, check functioning, and then reinstalling gbpvr? But if there is a quick fix....

Update: I got at least one of the pvr500 tuners to work under wintv7 software. It gives audio on all channels. Then, I added this tuner to GBPVR config, it did work! with audio. Stopped the recording, tried recording another channel: no sound.

So, once you change channels, it doesn't give sound anymore. This sounds like something I read about mythtv trouble with pvr500. But I don't know if I could use their solutions (if any) since that is Linux I think.

Too bad I have a double tuner card waiting to roll but it isn't picking up audio! the easiest of the both you would say....

i went in and checked, yes it was scheduled in the TV Guide (it was Red)......

Half and hour in, nothing! I tried canceling and re-recording, but still no dice.

Anyway, I used my other GBPVR machine to catch the last half an hour....

So I am wondering

1. why this happened - how do I avoid in the future
2. does anyone happen to have the full episode I could copy?! Fox do not repeat the show for some reason, they want you to watch the appaling "high def" online version
