Recording stops at 4gb file size
Posted by: experiencebliss - 2010-05-04, 12:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi, I am new to this technology but last week got everything going .... almost. I run a Hauppauge 1600 on an older PC, GBPVR 1.4.7, Schedule Direct EPG. Out here in the middle of nowhere we only get analog cable TV. My set up is pretty simple. I record movies to a 250 GB external HD, edit them in VideoReDo, then burn them to disc.

Everything was just dandy until I decided to record in high quality. Now the recordings stop at 4GB file size - or 1.34 min run time - which cuts off the end of the movies. I increased the post show padding time to ensure a full two hour recording time, but that didn't change anything. Still had movies stop at 4 GB.

I'm sure it's something dumb I did or didn't do but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

512 RAM (hey, it works)
Hauppauge 1600 (don't use remote because no STB)

Western Digital 250GB external HD
Analog cable, no STB

Audio missing only on certain shows
Posted by: joshhep - 2010-05-03, 11:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello, I've been using GB for over one year now. Great program, great support forum. I really enjoy the program and comskip for pvr.
I currently have a problem that it seems no one else has had.

Recently our cable here has gone digital for all but local channels. . . I have my haupauge 2250 set to capture analog and dig channels (no STB). . .

Two recently digital channels I enjoy have certain shows where no audio is present. Other shows on same channels (E & FX) have full or partial audio (commentator but no main audio or visavera), but a few shows have no audio at all.
This is for recording only, as I've never gotten live tv to work with GB- analog or dig, ever. (the live tv is still curious to me but must be a simple software conflict since analog live tv has always worked in wintv.)
*These two channels (and the rest) come in fine using my TV w/ dig tuner. The TV is how I got the channels# for digital mapping in GB.

Please let me know if you have any help, ?, etc. I can attach any files, please let me know which. Thankyou very much, JH

Disk space pie chart on main menu screen
Posted by: drain - 2010-05-03, 06:51 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Due to some bad disk management, I found my recordings cutting short becuase I ran out of space.

I'd love to be able to have a smaller version of the disk space pie chart from the System menu somewhere on the main menu screen.

  Replacement Blaster

I have a couple of hauppage capture cards and have managed to bend the blaster connector. Any idea if you can just buy a replacement blaster.......preferably with USB or bluetooth or something? (Second plug I've bent)

  Misssing TV Guide
Posted by: phillyjim - 2010-05-02, 11:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I planned on doing some program scheduling today and when I opened GBPVR there was no schedule displayed. The channels are in the left column, the dates and times are across the top, but, there is no program display.

Checked live TV and that displays properly.

I am using zap2it for the schedule and it appears to update correctly.

I don't know if my pending programs will work. I last recorded on April 27 and I have a few programs pending, but, I am unable to add more right now.

Live TV and recording problems - Win 7 64 bit and Hauppauge HD-PVR
Posted by: mikepl - 2010-05-02, 05:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I did a fresh install of 1.4.7 with Win 7 64 bit and the Hauppauge HD-PVR. EPG, channel changing and video streaming seem to be working. However recording and LiveTv don't work.

Recording simply creates a 0 kb file. The HD-PVR never goes into recording mode.

LiveTV (with "use live preview" checked) displays a black window with no audio.

LiveTV (with "use live preview" unchecked) flashes some video then same black window and no audio. By changing the default 500 ms LivePreview pre-play delay to at least 5000 ms, video does appear normally. However when the channel is changed the set top box goes to the correct channel but LiveTV simply replays the old channel file it previously recorded. It will loop on this old file and eventually kick back to the Main Menu. The hard drive has 2 files: the first channel recording (a ts file which it looped on) and the second channel recording (an mpg file which it never displayed).

I'm using EVR and Microsoft decoders. The problem is the same if I use VMR9 or default decoders or Cyberlink decoders. I have installed the vcredist_x86 files and have re-registered the filters.

I'm stumped. Anyone have any suggestions?

Time to change setup and need some help
Posted by: Slice - 2010-05-02, 02:42 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi all,

My current setup is as follows,

My server is running the latest GBPVR (1.4.7) and is a 4 year old PC running XP. It works fine so I'm not going to do too much to it!

I have a SKY box and I'm using a PVR-150 tuned to capture on the RF2 of the box. I was using a scart to RGB convertor but I was having serious colour issues on the PVR-150 so that was why I switched.

It was all working ok but my two slave PC's have both packed in recently. they were low end ones that I got from various sources, so my question.
I'm considering buying a NMT (the EGreat M34A) to replace the slaves (I find that using second hand refurbs is costing me too much in time to keep them going!)

But I also want to retire the 150's, So I was looking at using a Dreambox 500S (Satellite version) it appears there is some bits to be done to use my sky card on this but appears that it can be done!

My question is can the Dreambox 500s be used with GBPVR or should I be looking at a different option! I'm a real noob when it comes to dreambox's or cams etc.

Advice Please?

Channels Sometimes Skipped When Mapping Digital Channels To EPG
Posted by: skycyclepilot - 2010-05-02, 07:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Once I have GBPVR installed, and I am setting up my capture sources, when I go to map my digital channels to the EPG, groups of channels will sometimes get skipped, and I have to rescan. It takes three or four rescans before all the channels are detected properly.

The quality rating on the channels shows up as 100, and the signal strength is -20.

I'm using an HVR2250 on Windows 7 x64.

  No Audio
Posted by: skycyclepilot - 2010-05-02, 01:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I've clean installed Windows 7 and GBPVR - twice. I have no audio on live TV, and none of playback within GBPVR. If I play a recorded file in an external application, I do have sound.

I've tried different audio decoders, ac3 decoders, and different audio renderers - nothing.

I accidentally left my motherboard's onboard sound on during the Windows install, and I have a X-Fi sound card. I turned the onboard audio off, and tried another reinstall of GBPVR - still nothing.

I'm about to have to install Windows for a third time, if someone can't come up with something else to try...
