Hi all - I am a NextPVR noob and am struggling with IPTV set-up. I've read a few forum posts discussing similar topics, but nothing that quite fits the bill.
I have added an IPTV source using XC, which has downloaded tens of thousands of channels. I want to pare it back to just the stuff that's going to be useful.
My first attempt was to Import All and then search/delete in the channel editor, but I found that to be agonisingly slow and - on many occasions - it just seemed to die. The screen would never update again after I pressed the trashcan after checking candidates for removal (I left it overnight at one point).
So I decided to follow advice from other threads and delete the device, start again, and try to only import the stuff I wanted in the first place. I've run into problems again.
My import screen has an "All Selected (681)" drop-down.
When I click on it, I am presented with a huge list of what I presume are channel groups.
Navigating the list is difficult - I can scroll for a while, deselecting items as I go, but after 30-40 lines of scrolling (with mousewheel, arrow keys or PgUp/PgDn) the list gets "stuck" (I try to scroll, it moves a few lines then resets back to the top).
If I use the window scrollbar, I get the same behaviour UNTIL I drag right to the bottom, at which point the list seems to snap into life.
I can then work my way up, deselecting as I go. HOWEVER, after a seemingly random number of clicks, the list entirely vanishes.
I can persevere with this (and have done so, twice - it took hours!) but ultimately there is no "Save" button that allows me to commit the work. Whatever I do next, it always results in the entire channel list being imported.
My import screen also has "Filter by channel group", but that only contains
Select all
All channels
so seems to be useless.
So, I go through the process of using the "All Selected" drop-down and pare back the list to include only the stuff I want. I'm left with the following screen, where I don't have an option to save anything:
So Xfinity has decided to no longer support the m-card, aka Cablecard for the HDPrime/TIVO. I renewed my agreement with them about 3 weeks ago and about a week ago the card stopped working. Went into the store and their comment was "yeah, they've sent out messages regarding the EOL of the card". After my wife spent hours on the phone with their pitiful customer service, they're basically going to send me a box that has DVR abilities.
But I of course like control of my own content and don't need them preventing me from doing so.
Is there any alternative to using NextPVR with Xfinity compatible hardware? I'm really not wanting to go down the route of using emitters, but that's the only thing I'm aware of and this is like going back in time 15 years.
Is my HDPrime a boat anchor now? Perfectly working and now useless.
(This after all this time I transitioned to Linux finally and it's super reliable. I have some things to straighten out but now I'm completely PO'd about my cable service. I don't have alternatives that I'm aware of)
As the title suggests - I saw one of these available for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these cards.
Is it worth buying and trying, or would I be wasting my money?
Is there any way the EPG in the iOS client could be made to show "new" airings? It would be so helpful to know when scheduling recordings, which are new airings, and which are reruns. I'm using a Schedules Direct subscription to feed the guide and the web interface is so nice but the iOS guide does not translate this information. Thank you.
Hi there
I'm in Ireland, have been running TVHeadend without issues for years.
I get Freesat DVB-S2 from the UK and Saorview DVB-T from Three-Rock in Ireland
The DVB-S2 scanned happily but the DVB-T just freezes on " >>> Scanning 546000000"
My DVB adapters are : TBS-6902 DVB-S2 PCIe & TBS 6281-SE DVB-T PCIe
Logfiles are attached.
I wonder if it's a problem with my hardware/drivers? (Working perfectly in TVH)When I select a different transmitter (kippure for instance) it moved through the frequencies and finishes (despite not finding any channels - my rooftop TV aerial is out of reach from Kippure)
Ive had NextPVR on my 8yo NUC PC with a 55" TV for years and has been fine (all through Kodi). I got a 85" TV and started getting bad micro stutter. Have now got a new Mini PC and still getting micro stutter. Not as bad as before but still enough to be annoying, just doesn't look 100% smooth like it use to or compared to my actual TV. all other media plays fine with no stutter, its just the TV stuff
Have googled as much as i can but it still remains.
played files in VLC and it a touch better but still there. also played just through the NextPVR program and still there
im out of ideas now and asking to see if there is something ive missed that needs changing.
In the web UI I select a program and select Record Series. It used to then mark all occurrences in Red. But now it doesn't.
Looking in the database, RECURRING_RECORDINGS, the entry is there but has start and end datetimes set (sic).
There are no entries shown in Pending Recording. Even if I update the EPG.
If, in SQL, i remove the dates, then after updating the EPG the occurrences ARE selected and appear in the Pending.
But not all! Some programmes are still not marked as recording.
I am at a loss. The Names of the Programmes match the EPG name.
I am on the latest version 7.0.1.241229, and I am on Windows 10.
I have changed some channels to use Schedules Direct, but that doesn't seem to make it work.
I've been running NextPVR on Windows 11 for a while and never got into using the web interface beyond what is required (since many settings have been moved from NextPVR.exe to the web interface, I can't avoid it entirely). I'm using NextPVR.exe to manage setting up recordings (I only record OTA via a Hauppauge tuner card in the desktop). I watch recorded programs directly from the folders they're recorded into via File Explorer and VLC and delete from same when I'm done. I use the NextPVR gagdet from a separate computer to monitor the pending recording list. Pretty much as old-school as one can get these days (other than Windows 11).
So it was no surprise when I upgraded to NextPVR 7 a couple of months ago (from v6, I do try to keep NextPVR up-to-date) and the gadget stopped working. I figured the API calls had finally been removed in 7 and the poor gadget had reached end-of-life, and basic troubleshooting didn't bring it back. Then I noticed a thread from Bobbybear having issues that had been resolved and figured I'd revisit (I REALLY like being able to check the gadget ).
After hours of pouring over configs and settings.ini's and npvr.js files and config.xml's and forum threads, I think my problem actually lies in the web side of the upgrade to v7 and has nothing to do with the gadget.
NextPVR.exe still works perfectly showing my pending recordings, live tv, recorded programs, etc. However, the web client shows the guide and the Recurring recording lists but does NOT show the Pending recording list (blank). Since this is all the gadget really shows, it's no wonder the gadget isn't showing it either, except that NextPVR.exe does show the Pending recording list. Interestingly enough, the option "Where is the other web client?" does show the Pending recording list as well (UI Client that looks like NextPVR.exe).
I also can't watch live TV via the "new" web interface (every channel gives me "Streaming Failed - transcoder exited" after a few seconds, even when trying for a second or third time, it starts a counter of packets (or whatever it's counting) like it's working but then gives the error in red without ever showing a picture). The same thing happens when I try from the host with the tuner card or from the remote computer (still on the same local network) or from different browsers (Chrome, Edge), but this is only given for additional information because I don't use the web interface.
To my simple way of thinking, it seems like I just need to get the Pending recording list "built" so the web interface shows it (the web interface Recordings list is also blank while NextPVR.exe has lots of recordings in the list, but I chalk that up to the fact I delete the extraneous data (.xml files and such) included when recording with these new-fangled versions of NextPVR before I watch the recordings, but that shouldn't affect the Pending recordings list, should it?
I've looked at using NextTool to attempt a fix, but I'm not clear that that was really meant for this issue. Basically I haven't been able to find anything that talks about a discrepancy between Pending recordings via NextPVR.exe and the web interface. The discrepancies always seem to happen in the Recordings list.
I've attached logs, for what it's worth, after a restart of the NextPVR service, attempting to get the pending list from the gadget, starting NextPVR.exe and viewing the Pending list from it and from UI Client and trying to view the Pending list from the web interface (no error, just blank).
I'd really rather avoid starting from scratch, setting up the tuner card, the channels, the guide (I use Schedules Direct to keep things mostly simple, though they've had their issues), the recurring recording list (50+ recordings in there and I know they can be exported and imported but that never quite meshes with the rebuilt channel list). I've done this before due to the changes in the digital OTA world and frequency changes/sub channel options/etc. that stations seem to thrive on these days. While sometimes it's necessary to blow out the pipes, there's too many moving parts these days to make it a regular thing... .
ANY insight, suggestions, etc. are greatly welcomed and appreciated (including "get a life"...).
