Done a bit of internet searching, but can't seem to find exactly what I want, so thought I would ask here before chucking it in for the night: basically I am currently using a 2005 version of "The Bat!" e-mail program, which acts as my local server mail program - it resides on my always-on GBPVR computer, and downloads mail from my various pop accounts.
The Bat! is also installed on my other computers (main work one, netbook, wife's computer etc), but these are just client versions of the program, which connect to the server message-bases over the local network, so that all sent and received messages exist in the same place. ie the interface is exactly the same, but all e-mails are sent and received via the lounge/GBPVR computer, simplifying traffic and back-up requirements.
This is just what I want, but unfortunately they removed this feature in 2006 (much to my surprise after paying for the version "upgrade" ), and thus various other program improvements over the last few years cannot be applied (basically the 2005 version has a few bugs that are getting too annoying). I have looked for a drop-in alternative, but everyone else seems to suggest a full-blooded stand-alone e-mail server and handling all mail yourself rather than fetching it via pop from various ISPs.
Anyone heard of a similar feature with a different mail program, or do I have to either set up a main server or revert to each computer individually downloading the mail? Things have come to a bit of a head with my latest antivirus refusing to play nicely with this version of The Bat!, so it has moved up my priority list from "nagging annoyance" to "must do".
Note - all computers are on Windows XP, and this is just for sharing across my home-LAN: on the road I just use a pop-checker or VNC-in to a home computer if I want to check on old e-mails.
Any suggestions gratefully received - what does everyone else do to avoid home-network mail duplication?
In config.exe you can configure conversion start times. But I did not see any relation to this in config.xml, but maybe I missed it. I did find the following
I would like my conversion to start and stop at certain times. What is the time format military? Will this conflict with the settings in config.exe. Do I need to set something to enable start and stop times?
I was watching a recording last night of Pirates or Carribberan from TV2, and noiced the pciture seemed to be shifted to the right slightly.
tried aspect ration etc, and couldn't change it. In the end I played it in VLC on another PC, and there is a black bar down the left hand side of all my TV2 HD recordings, along with a very bright white dot at the top of the screen.
I was messing around trying to delete a reoccurring recording (while it was in progress), then I switched to task manager and windows crashed. Unfortunately something in gb-pvr got corrupted. I had a backup from several days ago but did not have gbpvr.db3 file backed up recently. Luckily I was able to recover my database after fiddling with it for several hours.
This prompted me to download Puresync a freeware backup program. Nice thing about this program is that it will do multiple copies say 1-5 just in case something gets corrupted and you don't know it. The program also has a sophisticated scheduler. I also backup my email with this. I used a old 2gb usb stick for the backup. Syncback is also a nice freeware program.
I do file conversions from ts to avi to save space and had it set in config to asap. Now I set it to go after midnight. During the conversion files get moved around a lot and cause fragmentation. So I downloaded puran defrag. You can schedule this to run at certain times (very flexible scheduler).
I'm not sure if some of my problems where related to to canceling recording while recording or just with windows 7 x64. When I've tried to cancel recordings before I had to cancel twice in PVRX2 before it would take.
In windows 7 when accessing task manager it seems to interfere with the video stream. From now on I will exit PVRX2 before looking at task manager.
Been trying to get my new HVR-4000 (did I make the right choice?) up and running. Scanning shows good signal strength and quality but I get the ugly no channels found :confused:.
In looking at the mvpmcx2 code I realised I had some code stopping the Record key from being send while video was playing probably because of problems in PCH mode. I commented this odd, and GBPVR gives me an option to record the show in progress. It works nicely and it does show up perfectly in Recording.

This is in the wishlist option I would like an option to move this from the Live TV buffer folder to the Recordings folder added to the Recording menu options or if possible have it moved (renamed on the same drive) when the recording stop.
Just checking to see if this is expected behavior. In Live TV, if I mute GBPVR and then enter the guide, I can't unmute it unless I exit all the way back to Live TV. Similarly, if I want to mute when the guide is up, I can't. Thanks for clarification.
Thanks to dhbg256 that helped with the excel macro and mvallevand, that made string converstion utility.
We now has a working easy to use translation function.
I have ported all old translations into the "system" and strings that where not translated, I had Google translate.
I have also made it possible to translate languages that didn't have any translations earlier, but they are all Google translations.
But they might be good anyway, and it should definatly be easier, than doing the translation from scratch.
I have installed GBPVR using NMTInstall.exe, trying to use this for my PC and my NMT. GBPVR start fine with no errors in both the PC and on the PCH. I can view the TV Guide and view live TV in the PC. But I cannot record or play any recorded programs or skip back durning a live recording on my PC.
