  Eliminate zero-length recordings
Posted by: liteswap - 2010-02-14, 11:07 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

Would it be possible to check that a recording, once started, is in fact adding bits to a file? If not, maybe the recording could be restarted, with retries continued until the prefix padding period is over.

What do you think, sub?

PCH crash after a couple hours of watching
Posted by: wpialum - 2010-02-14, 08:52 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (29)

My PCH crashes fairly consistently after a couple of hours of watching, and I'm not sure if this is "normal" behavior, and with the Olympics here, it's time to figure this out so I can watch more than a couple of hours at a time.

So I just had a crash watching biathlon. When I sort my logs by date modified, the only log that actually changed was the recordingservice log, which is attached. Looking at it, the error doesn't seem particularly helpful, but if any of you could offer some troubleshooting guidance, it'd be much appreciated.

Searching the forum, I don't see complaints about this, so I'm hopeful I can solve it.

  Narrow Black Bars
Posted by: skycyclepilot - 2010-02-14, 09:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

If I play a GBPVR recording in any other media player, I have narrow black bars on each side of the picture. I'm not talking about an aspect ratio problem. The bars are much narrower than that. They do not appear if I play the recordings in GBPVR.

I can zoom in slightly to eliminate the bars. I see this only in recordings made by GBPVR.

Is there an obscure setting that would eliminate this?

  Adding info to MP4
Posted by: Atrus - 2010-02-14, 03:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

So, everything is working really well in my PVR/HTPC setup and I am more than pleased!

I've started converting my DVD's to MP4.

I've noticed with recording live TV that GBPVR does a nice job of including the program synopsis.

I'd really like to "tag" my movies with some info - year of release, key actors/actresses, runtime, and brief movie overview. Basically the same info you'd see if you selected "info" on your cable box when watching a movie.

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks!

Skin Plugin Causing Unhandled Exception Error
Posted by: Firetoad - 2010-02-14, 12:58 AM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (1)

I have the latest version of GBPVR installed on both a host and client machine. I the Community SD Skin with the Glow Theme installed on both computers. When I enter "Skin" from the GBPVR menu on the host machine or via MediaMVP, everything works as expected. However, whenever I try to enter "Dkin" through GBPVR's menu on the client machine, I received the following error:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application..."
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
[The error details are in the "Windows Error.txt" file in the attached logs zip.]

Following the error, the GBPVR instance will eventually become responsive again, but it does not enter the "Skin" menu.

Both machines are running Windows 7 and are both up to date with Windows Update. Also, both installations of GBPVR are the same with the exception of the MediaMVP Position plugin on the host machine.

EDIT: I wanted to add that when looking through the logs' errors, I am seeing a number of references to the D: drive. On my client machine, the D: drive is just a small factory installed, HP Recovery partition only. Not sure if that is an issue or not.

Does anyone have any advice/input? The client machine seems to schedule and perform other PVR functions as needed without issue except for this "Skin" issue. Thanks in advance.

  'Videos' Plugin Development
Posted by: reven - 2010-02-13, 11:53 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (37)

ok here it is

requirements
1. sql server 2005 or above (express is fine)
2. community skin 3

how to use
1. run the installer
2. select a full database, i havent tested sql compact edition
3. launch pvrx2 and go to 'Videos'
4. press "left" and select "Files" from the menu
5. a location popup box should be displayed, browse for a location to add (this box can be shown again via F11 on this screen)
6. wait for the service to scan the folders, if you're impatient you can add all your locations then launch services.msc from windows and restart the 'Videos File Watcher' service
7. enjoy, report serious bugs.

theres a log file in gbpvr\logs for the videos file service.

i need someone to create a blue skin for this, and not use any of the existing graphics, most of them are from boxee alpha. i want this to be done before a next release.

this is a very very very alpha release. it hasn't been tested much or used much for over a year. and i rushed to get it up now.

  KeyMappings
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-02-13, 10:19 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

How do KeyMappings work with the remote control? I have this in my keymappings file:

Quote:<command name="SPOTIFY_ESCAPE" key="Escape"/>

The command comes through for the Escape key on the keyboard but not for the Back button from a Hauppauge remote control.

Am I missing something?

  Channel mapping with multiple transponders
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2010-02-13, 09:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

When I scan for channels (cable tv) I observe that the same channel is found on multiple transponders/frequencies, Since I use DVB-EPG I don't have a choice in the Mapping field so I can choose different frequencies, like when using XMLTV. How does the config app select which transponder it picks a cretain channel from, is it the first found, the last found or does it look at the signal strength?

I'm asking because I have a problem recording some HD-channels with very weak signal, but maybe the signal is stronger on another transponder, but the thing is that I have no way of testing the different transponders.

  Deleting Recordings
Posted by: skycyclepilot - 2010-02-13, 09:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

If I delete a recording using Windows Explorer, GBPVR doesn't remove the listing for the recording. It stays on the list of available recordings.

It is not a major issue, but it is more convenient to delete multiple files, or an entire folder, the old fashioned way.

Is there a way to have GBPVR automatically delete listings for recordings that no longer exist on the hard drive?

Problems getting HVR-850 to detect stations
Posted by: random2001 - 2010-02-13, 08:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

So I just installed a splitter to my antenna and a HVR-850 USB dongle and I'm not getting any stations on my dongle. I am, however, getting stations on my TV so I know that I am getting some sort of signal. Attached are my config.exe.log stuff.

Also I am running windows 7 x64 and GB-PVR is detecting my tuner as a HVR-950Q even though it is a HVR-850. Also I tried their app (wintv 7) and I still didn't pick up any channels.

Thanks!!!
