  Installer setting folder permissions..bad idea?
Posted by: Fatman_do - 2009-11-29, 09:34 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

I believe I can set the GBPVR folder specifically to be FullAcess for all users during a plugin/skin install. This would be a prompt that would default to decline, stating something that the user should understand potential security risks. Then possibly an additional confirm prompt just to make sure.

Does this sound like a good idea, given obvious safety concerns?

  index.htm & CSI web service
Posted by: wndrbear - 2009-11-29, 08:56 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (6)

I have been looking through the forums but cannot seem to find specific directions for this configuration.

I currently use an index.htm on my A-110 so that I have links to YAMJ and GB-PVR for recorded TV and all the other stuff. My link to GB-PVR is currently:

Code:
http://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/SERVER:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi

However, this link does not work if open GB-PVR, exit GB-PVR to get to YAMJ and then try again (I get the request cannot be processed error).

I used the CSI to install the GB-PVR web service and this method seems to work every time, but I can't seem to figure out how to create the link in the index.htm so that it loads the webservice instead of the network share.

I just want the link in index.htm to work everytime finding a way to start the webservice from the index.htm seemed like the most obvious to me, but if you have any suggestion on getting the network browse to work all the time that's great too.

Thx

Odd audio at MVP with some mpegs
Posted by: Dave72 - 2009-11-29, 07:37 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (23)

Some of the mpeg files on my hd have audio troubles when played on the MVP.
The audio is either silent or highspeed (and out of sync then of course).

AVIs etc play fine.
If I switch dongle to a standard dongle.bin.. they all play fine.

Ive tried a few different mvpmc.bin, they all seem to have the same problem. (its unclear which mvpmc we should actually be running for a simple MVP ?)

I had this problem back with 1.3 of gbpvr, I recently updated with a fresh install of 1.47.. same problem though.

Funny thing is, Im sure at some point I had mvpmc loaded, and everything played.. perhaps there's a version that works, but I can no longer find it.

Heres the MediaInfo clip from a recent file that doesnt work.
Video

Format : MPEG Video
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : Main@Main
Format settings, Matrix : Default
Duration : 6mn 22s

Width : 640 pixels
Height : 480 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 4:3
Frame rate : 29.970 fps
Colorimetry : 4:2:0
Scan type : Progressive

Format : MPEG Audio
Format version : Version 1
Format profile : Layer 2

Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 160 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Resolution : 16 bits
Stream size : 7.30 MiB (4%)

Now, all my videos are not the same format. Some are Mpeg1 video.. (me playing around with ffmpeg CL options in my converter program).. some are different audio etc. Im pretty sure they all played at some point.

AFAIK, this recent one above 'should' play.

I noticed some other posts with similar issues, but they didnt follow through.

Is it possible to change Quick Record defaults?
Posted by: cjn1962 - 2009-11-29, 02:32 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hello:

Is there a way to change the Quick Record defaults? I see that the "TV Listings" plug-in will allow this, but I am very happy with my present setup and can't find any options for the Quick Record feature.

Thank you,

Chris

  Ati 650
Posted by: bcdudley - 2009-11-29, 10:51 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

So I found an ATI 3650 at a really great price and upgraded my video card. It was actually the cheapest PCI-E video card in the store at $39. As a bonus, it has a 650 pro tuner on it. I primarily got this to use as a video card so if the tuner does not work, I am not really out anything.

I got it all setup and tested good in Windows Media Center. I was able to successfully record two shows simultaneously in WMC. GBPVR does see the card, but does not seem to lock onto any channels. I also see "Failed to start BDA Graph" everytime I attempt to scan for channels. I am assuming that means GBPVR cannot start the device. I have checked to make sure that media Center is not running.

Before I give up on it, I thought I would post my logs to make sure I wasn't missing something. The system is Win7 Ultimate. It also has a Hauppauge 1600 tuner that is working.

I had read lots of stuff about using XP drivers and copying the ini settings from another card to get it working, but nothing specific and recent.

Thanks.

  MovieWiz support for mymovies.xml file?
Posted by: daneo - 2009-11-29, 07:20 AM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (42)

Hi Everyone,

I thought that MW already had support for this option (I can select "local" for the metadata) however I'm not having any luck.

Due to the German descriptions, the best option for me is to use Salami's movie organizer to get the image and metadata, then MW for display.

However I keep getting the english IMDB stuff loaded and it's pants!

Thanks,
Dane

Is Community Skin COmpatible with Windows 7?
Posted by: LewE - 2009-11-29, 05:44 AM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (2)

In another thread (http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=2) there was a statment made that The problem is with CS not GB-PVR, it isn't compatible with Windows 7 or Vista. If you change the properties on the GB-PVR folder to be r/w for all users you should be ok.

I like the Community skin but if there are problems with it I would like to know just how compatible it is with Windows 7.

I downloaded version 4.05 and noticed that in order to get it to run successfully I had to run Winzip as Administrator.
