  Which Nova-TD for Norway
Posted by: anybraaten - 2009-11-30, 02:58 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

My supplier has two Nova-TD DVB-T (USB-sticks)
* HAUPPAUGE WinTV-NOVA-TD-HD USB DVB-T Mpeg4 RiksTV Ready
* HAUPPAUGE WinTV - Nova-TD

At some of the Hauppauge-forums they say that the difference between "HD" and "no-HD" is the software (codec) shipped with the product, (saying that the HD is shipped with a H264/MPEG4 codec).
The MPEG4 is just marked in the "header-name" on my suppliers web-page, no place in the product description. The description of the two products are rather equal.

Will gbpvr latest version give me the Norwegian free channels with the non-HD stick ?

  Codec Issue
Posted by: bluespectrum - 2009-11-30, 09:07 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am running a client GBPVR 1.1.5 on another computer trying to playback videos recorded by the server GBPVR. VLC can play the recordings good, but Media Player Classic crashes, and GBPVR can playback with the intervideo Video decoder but skips and freezes up, all others crash GBPVR on the client. I am running the old GBPVR not PVRX2. I am unsure what codecs I need to playback the videos correct. Attached logs.

  Overscanning
Posted by: trock - 2009-11-30, 04:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I've searched the forums on this and I am still unclear on how to achieve the proper image during live digital channels.

I don't want to change the aspect ratio. I want to remove the white line at the bottom and the white dots at the top (some channels have a black line at the top) by zooming in on the image a bit. The overscan values in the config.xml file do not seem to have any effect. Can anyone help?

  GBPVR and WinTV PVRUSB2MCE
Posted by: Sichedelic - 2009-11-30, 03:40 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Hello,

Does anyone know if the WinTV PVRUSB2MCE is the same as the WinTV PVRUSB2?

The WinTV PVRUSB2MCE comes with the MCE remote, but I want to know if the functioning PVR is the same (ie, works with the same drivers) and thus will work with GBPVR.

The Hauppauge support site doesn't specifically state, although the drivers 'appear' to be the same.

Thought I would check here before shelling out some hard earned cash.

Thanks in advance.

  MVP Screen Position not installing
Posted by: medic29 - 2009-11-30, 03:35 AM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (3)

Question on this plugin:
Follow the steps in the wiki, (guessing the wiki is supposed to say hbpvr/plugins with an 's' as the install path.)
Anyway, launched config, no new plugins. restarted service (just in case) no new plugins noticed.
Even tried to register the dll but either the versino I keep pulling down is corrupt or this just isn't a dll that can be registered.
That would be as far as I can get at the moment, so just wondering if possibly the latest version of GB 1.4.7 broke something with this plugin.

Thanks

Canada and EPG, whicht to use and how
Posted by: SFX Group - 2009-11-30, 02:38 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Hi, i have moved to Canada, i used to be in the UK with SKY, used a XMLTV gui with RadioTimes (was free).

However i am now looking at the Hauppuage 1950 unit AND the HDPVR for Hi-Def stuff.

So if i link the 1950 what EPG can i use thats good, built in or would the XMLTV still be good for that (liked it, never really failed in the years i used it).

I will be getting Satellite as well (so the HDPVR will do that).

Acer Revo 3610 Vs Dell Zino HD Vs Something else
Posted by: Sichedelic - 2009-11-30, 02:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Hello,

I have a little dilemma that I would like your comment on. Which machine to buy for a HTPC? I know the question is a 'how long is a piece of string' type of question, but I'd still like some positive constructive ideas & opinions.

My needs are fairly simple at the moment, I need an HTPC that I can record an analog video stream from and play various DivX/XVid encoded shows (using GBPVR of course). I don't have a real need for HD at the moment, but I'm sure I will soon.

I was immediately attracted to the Acer Revo 3610, but then I read about the Dell Zino HD, but I also thought about building something like this.

Both the Revo & Zino would require a USB capture device (considering Hauppauge WinTV PVR-USB2) but the homebuilt gives me a PCIe slot or two to play with.

I've googled and googled and googled and read 'all' the reviews and am about to toss a dice to see which way to go. If anyone has experience to share that might influence the number of sides on the dice then I'd appreciate hearing it.

  Failed Upgrade
Posted by: Jaggy - 2009-11-30, 12:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

After getting a hard time yesterday I decided it was time I actually got round to upgrading my server to 1.4.7.......hmm I wonder about that decision now!

As always I backed up my old version, set the skin back to blue & set it to start '0' MVP servers, stopped recording service & any pvrx2.exe's before staring the upgrade, all went well until it had finished (when it normally opens config) then after a very long delay it popped up a message about not being able to update the database & to reboot & run config again, after a reboot & trying to run config just results in the same message every time.

I have currently reverted back to 1.3.11 but would like to be able to upgrade without having to start from a clean install if possible.

  Nova-T --- PCI or USB??
Posted by: NumberFive - 2009-11-29, 10:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Hi everyone,

I need to buy a new tuner to replace a broken HVR-900. Would you recommend sticking with Nova-T USB (thereby givening me more flexibility to build a nettop server) or a Nova-T 500 PCI (is this a better option for reliability / poor signals)?

Look forward to the discussion! Smile
