two capture cards -- one stb
Posted by: highestbid - 2009-10-04, 06:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have to use a capture card to get any channel above 60. So I have a PVR-150 with a blaster connected to the STB and a second card (averymedia dual tuner) just attached dirrectly to the cable (no STB). My thought was I could schedule recordings on the higher channels on the PVR-150 and still have bandwidth to record other channels from the lower band on the other tuner. So I have set up two schedules on schedules direct. The first has only the lower band channels and is set on the averymedia board(s) the second includes all channels and is set on the PVR-150. I installed the avery card 1st thinking that would make it the prefered tuner but that does not seem to have worked. Anyone have any suggestions on how I set the prefered tuner for recording and/or live tv? I searched thru the forum (man there are a lot of posts. But could not find anything related. If you have seen one I would appreciate a link.

  Custom "overscan" zoom setting?
Posted by: imilne - 2009-10-04, 05:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

In a panic after discovering some BBC induced image retention on my plasma screen (too much morning TV and BBC News by the wife!) I want to create a custom zoom setting that will allow her to still watch these channels, but zoomed in enough to remove the logos, tickers, etc, while still maintaining aspect ratio.

The best I've managed so far is:

<AspectRatioMode name="Aspect Zoom" ratio="-.0.125,-0.125,1.125,1.125" />

but I'm not convinced that's quite right? Can anyone suggest what I'd need to do to create a constant, say 15% (or whatever) overscan on all sides?

MY screen is currently 1:1 pixel mapped 1080p.

Cheers

  HDHomerun Configuration Question
Posted by: jdonth - 2009-10-04, 05:03 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Background:
I have a home-built PVR with 2 HDHRs recording OTA (up to 4 channels at once). Post-processing with TStoATSC. Display is via a Popcorn Hour A100.

Because of the bandwidth used, I direct the first channel on each HDHR to store its ts file to physical hard drive (X:), the second channel of each HDHR to a second physical hard drive (Y:).

The post-processing, via TStoATSC, reads the input file (from either drive X: or Y:) and writes the output file to a third physical drive (Z:).

Using LLink, I stream files on the Z: drive to my TV via the PH-A100.

Note: I write the output of the HDHRs to different hard drives because my hard drives can not sustain write speeds of 80mb/sec (4 active channels) so I split them up so that the write rate is a managable 40mb/sec.

Question:
Is it possible to use GBPVR to replace my home-grown PVR? If so, please point me to the configuration settings I would need.

For example:
1. How can I direct the output from a recording source to a specific drive/directory?

2. I only want to record one video channel, say 8.1, not all channels on the frequency (8.1,8.2,8.3). I also only want the English audio feed. How do I filter the feed?

3. How do I sent up a post-processing step that only runs when there are no active recordings being made (again to protect the bandwidth)?

Any help would be appreciated. I used GBPVR (before the 1.x days) when I was recording analog signals and thought I'd revisit using this outstanding piece of software again but am not quite sure how to use it in a HDHomerun, OTA, Popcorn Hour A100 environment.

Thanks,
~Joe

Play All Causes the PCH to Lock Up
Posted by: jtokach - 2009-10-04, 02:43 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (7)

Hi,

When I hit Play All in a directory that contains several MPG's or AVI's one or two videos will play, but then it locks up into a black screen and won't respond to the remote so I need to pull the power to reboot the PCH.

Logs Attached.

Thanks!

  XP MCE v XP Pro
Posted by: StevHodge - 2009-10-04, 02:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

I have to do a full windows re-install, on new hardware. I have available both an XP-MCE and an XP Pro system disk. Previously I have run gbpvr under xp-mce, quite successfully, but it was quite struggle to get everything working, a lot of the time, I think because of little issues with XP-MCE

Question; which would be preferable, plain old XP pro, or XP-MCE
Further Question: Do I go to SP3. I have seen in one of the forums that SP3 installed in XP-MCE gives you problems with my one of my tuner cards (Hauppauge Nova-T 500, dual)

The machine running GBPVR runs only as a server. All the material is streamed to the TVs in the house via three Hauppauge MVPs, running under mvpmc, so there is no need for any remotes etc for the gbpvr machine

Full spec of the GBPVR machine as follows:
Mobo: Asus M4A78-E
Processor: AMD Athlon 5000 Dual Core
Clock speed 2200 Mhz
RAM: 2 gb DDR-2 800 Mhz
Tuner card 1; Hauppauge Nove-T 500 Dual
Tuner card 2: Hauppauge PCR150MCE
On Board graphics
SATA disk drives

Using a hardware decoder for playback
Posted by: Kelisi - 2009-10-04, 01:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I'd like to use GB-PVR on a compact PC that only has VGA out (no TV), and I propose using a Sigma Designs EM8471 hardware MPEG2/4 decoder - has anyone tried this? I've searched the forums but couldn't see any posts on this subject. I'd either use a Video Home TV Champ for capture (as I happen to have one), or if this is unsupported, buy a Hauppauge PVR150 (as this seems to be a popular card to use). I'm basically a hardware engineer, but I have some 'C' programming experience.

Post record processing (converting to AVI)
Posted by: Kissack - 2009-10-04, 09:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

How is this processing carried out (ie are all recoreded files converted together or one after the other)?

Is there a way I can ensure processing is more timely? I have processing set to wake machine between 12:00AM and 6TongueM (as I do not normally record/watch at then - nor is the PC is not a sleep as it is on 24/7), to delete the orignal and to update database.

What I find is several files with the AVI extension but zero byte size and no indication of anything happening (I was expecting to see, in task manager some processes and or Cpu time used)

Can I increase the priority of this covnersion process to get things done quicker?

San Jose Comcast Channel Xref Listing
Posted by: zb1 - 2009-10-04, 04:02 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I am in desperate need of the file that has all the channels for Comcast in San Jose mapped to their appropriate frequencies. I'm having problems getting all my channels to work.

Also, can someone explain why some channels work while others don't and how the QAM file fits into the equation. I've been playing with the QAM.ini Manager utility.

Thanks for your help.

Cant load USB-UIRT drivers for XP SP3
Posted by: David.Skinenr - 2009-10-03, 11:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I am current 'upgrading' from my vista GBPVR environment to XP SP3. However, the V1.4 USB-UIRT drivers are not recognised by XP SP3? Has anyone else hit this problem?

Regards
