MCE Remote with Server 2003 (Windows Home Server)
Posted by: alexd1983 - 2009-09-04, 03:11 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (9)

Ok...

I'm resurrecting an old thread because I (unlike others) am still having problems.

This is the original thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ome&page=2

in a nutshell, Hauppauge packaged a HVR-1600 card with an IR Blaster made by Microsoft called the "ehome infrared transceiver". I cannot get this to work under Windows XP nor can I get it to work under WHS.

After scavenging around I found some drivers... but ha.. they wouldn't work... windows cannot find compatible hardware blah blah blah.

So in that thread, it was discovered that by modifying the irbus.inf file and replacing the VID and PID numbers with your own (found in device manager) that the driver would install and you could go from there...

Sooo... I've done that and it gave me a warning .. driver is unsigned blah blah.. fine, clicked continue and while it appeared to take it.. now the "device cannot start"

so my question is.. Now what do I do???

I have a feeling this nightmare is gonna get worse before it gets better

  Blue-Retro-SHV skin & Weather2
Posted by: Jaggy - 2009-09-03, 10:55 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (17)

It looks like a number of us old/partially blind users are interested in knowing what is happening with the weather & because I happen to be one of them I am slowly doing a Weather2 B-R-SHV skin for it that I will upload within the next couple of days time permitting.

But we will need to grovel very nicely to scb147 as there are a few screen displays I just don't have enough room to be able to display with big fonts in the forecast area (as I can't get to them at the moment having 0 days forecast I can't describe the exact problem at the moment)

In the mean time just copy ..\skin2\blue\weather2 into ..\skin2\Blue-Retro-SHV\weather2 & it will work fine.

  Problem after upgrade
Posted by: JimmyA - 2009-09-03, 09:46 PM - Forum: International Cinema Listings, RSS Reader, WebCams, Calendar, Files and Screen Saver - Replies (1)

I can no longer watch trailers after upgrading to 1.4.7.

Here's the error in the log file:

2009-09-03 16:43:25.431 WARNING [1] requested skin file not found: C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\skin2\Community-WS\InternationalCinemaListings\mmc.xml

Looks strange to me. Any suggestions?

Now I am getting a different error:

  Laptop Battery Rundown
Posted by: DB100 - 2009-09-03, 08:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

After installing GBPVR 1.4.7 I would put my laptop into hibernation and store it away for the night, and the next day the battery would be completely rundown. It seemed like something was starting the laptop up in the night. I went into Config and noticed some check-boxes under the EPG section:

Wake Machine
Complete EPG reload

I couldn't remember if these were there in the previous version, but I suspect this is what was starting my laptop up. I unchecked the boxes and will see if this stops the battery drain.

  Recording stopping prematurely
Posted by: ACTCMS - 2009-09-03, 08:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (29)

Program 'Merlin' is set to record at 19:00 with 2 minutes pre-padding. Recording starts on time and seems to stop at the right time, but the recorded file is only 66MB, post-processing does not get run, status continues to show Merlin as recording and Recordingservice is left running at 99-100% cpu until I restart it.

The program is on BBC3 which is a part time channel (with CBBC) - switch over is at 19:00. The recording which is created shows the end of CBBC finishing off with about 10 seconds of black screen. Presumably, Recordingservice is stopping the recording after so many seconds of 'no signal'.

The main problem is the fact that Recordingservice never recovers. Also, short of manually removing the pre-padding, is there any way of catching the first program on these part-time channels. It happens on 1.4.7 and 1.3.11.

  Weather2 crashed PVRX2
Posted by: GAHart - 2009-09-03, 06:48 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (3)

I installed Weather2. At first it did not work, but I copied the weather2 folder from the blue skin to the SHV skin that I use. It worked! Then I found that PVRX2 stopped with a send to microsoft popup. I think Weater2 caused this problem.

I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.

  HVR 1600 - full or half-size PCI ?
Posted by: Scifidude - 2009-09-03, 05:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I'm looking to purchase an HVR 1600 (PCI). The PC I'd like to install it in only has half-height PCI slots (it's a small form desktop).

Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the 1600? I had no luck finding it on Hauppage's website.

Thanks

release FSE mode for external task?
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2009-09-03, 05:48 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

I'm still having a heck of a time getting smooth playback, either for recordings or live tv. I've been round and round with different video cards and different codecs with no perfect solution. The only thing that gets really close is to use FSE, but using that precludes use of any external tasks (I depend on Hulu & Netflix (via a media browser called Zinc) to fill in the gaps in my OTA channel lineup) . I see alot of others around here run FSE as well, presumably for the same reasons.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but is there any way that GB-PVR can be made to run in FSE mode, but release the screen to an external task when called? I admit I have no idea how the renderers work, but it seems logical that a program should be able to release the screen and then re-initialize it when it gets control back?
