EPG not found for some channels via DVB-T2
Posted by: Kotoka - 2022-09-06, 10:10 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (41)

Hi All,

I have just started using NextPVR (really nice piece of software!) and have come across the following issue. For some of my DVB-T2 channels NextPVR fails to obtain EPG information via DVB-T2. Either the EPG information for those particular channels is completely missing or there is only EPG information for a few hours.

I know for a fact, that much more EPG information is available for those particular channels - my TV, my Blu-ray DVB-T2 Recorder are able to obtain the respective EPG information via DVB-T2 (they are not connected to the internet, so they cannot obtain this information from other sources). I can also exclude that fact, that something is off with the USB-TV tuner, that is directly connected to my NextPVR machine. If I use the software provided by the manufacturer of the tuner (Hauppauge WinTV10), I am also able to obtain all the EPG information (even when the respective machine is not connected to the internet).

So, I know for a fact, that there is EPG information that is transmitted via DVB-T2, that NextPVR does not pick up. That could be either due to a configuration error from my side or because there are some issues with NextPVR in this regard. Maybe you can help me? I attach the respective log files.

Further information:
Operating System: Windows 10
NextPVR version: 6.0.0.220904 (note, that I encountered the same problem with version 5.2, so this is not something that was introduced by the very recent release)
TV Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD DVB-T/DVB-T2
Region: Italy

At least the following channels appear affected (those are the ones I checked, there may be more):

1) RAS ZDF HD (Freq: 578000 SID: 30 (H.264)): should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more according to my other devices), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)"
2) RAS SRF 1 HD (Freq: 578000 SID: 31 (H.264)): should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)" or no EPG at all (black screen?)
3) RAS SRF zwei HD (Freq: 578000 SID: 32 (H.264)):  should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)" or no EPG at all (black screen?)
4) RAS BR Fernsehen Süd HD (Freq: 578000 SID: 34 (H.264)):  should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)" or no EPG at all (black screen?)
5) RAS Kika HD (Freq: 578000 SID: 35 (H.264)): should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)"

Note, that not all RAS (our local broadcaster) channels are affected, e.g. RAS ORF1 HD, RAS ORF2T HD, RAS ORF III HD, RAS ORF Sport+ HD, RAS arte HD, RAS 3sat HD, RAS ZDF neo HD appear to get the EPG.
Also note, that WinTV10 (which manages to obtain the EPG information) uses the same frequencies+SIDs (so it does not appear to be due to the fact, that they use channels with the same names but different DVB-T2 parameters).

P.S.: To make the log file easier to interpret, I kept only those TV channels that are of interest to me. When I did my initial tests with all channels I got close to 300 TV channels, most of which I never watch - the problem appeared there as well (and there might be even more channels affected by the problem). But since I do not care about those channels, I thought it would be best to not have them in NextPVR (and therefore also not appear in the log file, presumably). One very strange thing that I saw there, was, that the channel RAS ORF1 HD, which would have EPG in the reduced channel set, would not have EPG when I kept all channels. I do not know if that helps in getting to the core of the problem, but it seemed very curious to me (??).

P.P.S.: I would rather not want to use the alternative of having to rely on XLMTV or Schedules Direct, given that I know for a fact that DVB-T2 already offers the required EPG. Of course, those would be workarounds, but I would first like to figure out, what causes the abovementioned problems.

Watching TV stops after about one hour
Posted by: NickH - 2022-09-05, 11:28 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

When watching TV with NextPVR it often stops/freezes after about 1h. Is this a limitation of the software or of, perhaps, having had the packet capture software installed at some point?

Win11 and NextPVR 6 (also happened with 5).

  Docker image v6 not available?
Posted by: janoonk - 2022-09-05, 10:18 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (1)

Hi,

I tried updating NextPVR like I always do using the same procedure. This time the image is not updated?!

sudo docker pull nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64:latest
  latest: Pulling from nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64
  Digest: sha256:1a4ece3b80c038df6fee3eb513a6dab7c947a53c4292cae274fda601b2729bb3
Status: Image is up to date for nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64:latest

The version stays at v5.2.7.220410 instead of 6.0.0.220904

Update: Using stable tag worked.

Btw here you can see all the tags: https://hub.docker.com/r/nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64/tags

web app guide timeline red bar
Posted by: qttor - 2022-09-04, 06:28 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

I'm trying to get used to the web app instead of the program because of its superior Guide search capability. But, I sorely miss the program's red bar immediately below the Guide's timeline that indicates scheduled recordings.

Is it possible to enable this red bar recording indication capability in the web app??

Question Filtering Groups/Channels I am missing something basic I think?
Posted by: dravenstone - 2022-09-04, 05:41 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (12)

Hey there.

Brand new to nextPVR, but most of this stuff makes sense to me, generally.

However - struggling to do something that seems obvious and simple and having little luck. Nor am I am having any success with coming up with the right search terms to find a good answer....

Trying to filter channels/groups in the webUI. That's it.
My XMLTV file has 7000+ entries - and I want to widdle it down to about 500ish, across different groups.

I have several times tried using the channel tab in the admin ui and simply deselecting all but the ones I wanted to have, no dice.

Do I need to run my M3u8 and XMLTV files through an external editor and only load up what I want into NextPVR?
Would love to avoid another step, but can do that if needed.

Really just curious if I have missed something incredibly obvious or something.

Thanks in advance!

  6.0.0.220904 Available (5th Sept 2022)
Posted by: sub - 2022-09-04, 05:03 PM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (1)

I've updated the NextPVR to the new NextPVR v6.0.0.220904 release.

This is the first version to be based on .NET 6, so I've decided to move the application version number to v6.x.x. Other than this updated .NET runtime version, this release is mainly focuses on bug fixes.

For users upgrading from a previous release, if the Settings web page appears blank, you may need to clear your browser's cache and/or use CRTL+F5 to force a reload of the web pages.

Linux users will need to download the updated deb file before upgrading. See https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid574376

NextPVR in Docker on Synology not finding 'epg.xml'
Posted by: huntercj - 2022-09-03, 09:19 PM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (3)

I'm moving NextPVR (and Mosquitto, openHAB and Unifi Controller) over from an old Windows box to Docker on a new Synology NAS which is replacing a 12 year old Netgear NAS. All seems well so far, I can watch live TV from a network HD HomeRun and can record manually, but I can't get NextPVR to load the 'epg.xml' file and NextPVR isn't getting the 2hr EPG data from the DVB-T streams either. This is essentially a copy of what has been working on a Windows box for years. I've used 'Download Station' on the Synology NAS to download the 'epg.xml' file from the web and put it in '/config' and I can see I have a 8.7MB file there, but NextPVR isn't loading it. I suspect something a little more fundamental because NextPVR isn't finding the EPG data from the DVB-T stream either. It's entirely likely I have done something dumb, but I've been trying on and off for a couple of days and I'm not seeing it. Any help would be gratefully received.

Can't Add Schedules Direct Lineup in Win 10
Posted by: rakircher - 2022-09-03, 02:47 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (13)

While in "Settings" -> EPG Sources, Mouse clicking on the blue "Add Lineup" button (see attached Screenshot-01.png) fails with an odd error pop-up Window as shown in Screenshot-02.png.

I am using latest NextPVR v5.2.7 with Windows 10, Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD tuner, and I have a current subscription to Schedules Direct.  My 87 channels are previously scanned and are working.  The lineup parameters shown are correct.  Also, the TV Guide is working using EPG data it acquired from some other non-Schedules Direct source, albeit some of the EPG data is missing from that default source.

I was in the process of trying to get NextPVR to use SD EPG data, and hopefully fill-in the blanks in the TV Guide, when the error occurred.  This error is repeatable, and when it occurs, it changes my OTA "Antenna (32937)" setting back to the default value.  There are no other errors reported by NextPVR that I can find.

Does anyone know how to get the TV Guide to use EGP data from Schedules Direct without encountering the "say undefined" error shown in Screenshot-02.png?
