I have been having issues with my (HD) recordings skipping around a lot, randomly freezing, and being altogether crappy, as well as from time to time still getting the crazy timeline issue (I've applied all known patches). I fed one into TS Doctor and I have LOTS of missing packets. I checked my OTA signal strength and everything looks just fine there... is it possible I'm losing packets due to a small cache on my hard drive?
Anything I download plays back perfectly, so I'm wondering if my hard drive is having a hard time writing all the data it's getting while recording...? My current hard drive has an 8mb cache - will a 32mb get me to where I need to be? Any thoughts are appreciated....
I have a system running windows XP that I have installed GBPVR on. I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 installed and am trying to configure the remote. As you probably know the 1600 has a built in ir reciever and I would like to use that. What is the best way to do this? There are probably other threads on this but I have done some searching and found nothing. Could someone give me a link that tells me how to configure the remote or just tell me how to do this? Thanks in advance.
I can select Direct recording plugin under source for the configuration, however, when I save it, the source type shows as BDA. When I update the EPG, it finds my local stations (Calgary). but it wants Tuning request for each channel (they're blank). Live TV and TV guide result in no response. Config won't allow me to enable the channels (I assume because there are on tuning requests) can I update the tuning request manually and if so how do I find out what value to use?

I'm having the strangest problem... I can watch and record ATSC TV late at night but during primetime anything I record or try to watch on certain channels stutters to the point where it's unwatchable.
Obviously there is the chance that the signal is worse during primetime but I find that a stretch... What I'm wondering is if certain "network" shows like American Idol use a different encoding method. Maybe MPEG2 vs MPEG4???
Anybody have any ideas?

Also, sometimes the timer goes crazy and shows something like 917:33:20 for a 30 minute show... sometimes this happens and the show is still watchable.
Hello all. I have a 802.11n network with xp pro server and Macbook Pro running XP client. I can only get file sharing mode to work and viewing HD content (.ts files from ATSC HD streams) are unwatchable although the theoretical wireless speed is fast enough. My question is - should I be able to achieve success this way or am I expecting too much? If I could get streaming working, would that have more chance of working? Incidentally, the client plays the files fine through 10/100 Ethernet cable. I have never been able to view live tv on the client.
I just recently purchased the HD-PVR and it is working some of the time. Sometimes recordings work, and other times they don't. It seems to be very random.
Additionally I have noticed that sometimes a recording will take place but the lights indicating that its recording don't light up.
I also have problems with the Audio going in and out of sync during playback, sometimes pausing, ff, or rw helps but most of the time it wont.
Here is my setup
I am using the HD-PVR with a Dish Network VIP 222 set to 1080i and using the optical connection for audio, I haven't tried stereo yet to see if it helps with any of the problems.
Im pretty sure its not a heat issue because I have plenty of cooling around it.
I have posted the section of my recording service log that shows the error I am seeing with the HD-PVR, it occurs with recordings that work and fail to record. The logs should have both recordings that worked and didn't work.
I've had scheduled recordings stop after a few minutes 2 or 3 times in the past month. Each time, I have done 2 things: First, moved the mouse to bring the desktop out of screen saver mode. Second, d-clicked on the GBPVR tray icon to see the recording status. Of course, it says it's recording as scheduled. Then, I've gone to the recordings directory to check if the file is growing in size and it isn't, but it's > 0 (~75Mb this last time). The recording service still thinks it's recording however. If I restart the recording service, it picks up and starts recording again (new file) and goes to the scheduled end.
When I try to play the initial small file, I get a blocky, broken up picture. Totally unwatchable. Logs attached, but don't show any errors. The "-1" log files are from the bad recording. The restarted recording is good.
Any chance that the act of pinging the tray icon could somehow interrupt the recording service? Any other thoughts? Is it likely some glitch in the cable stream? No error is thrown anywhere, or is there somewhere I should look?
This is an XP SP3 system running 1.3.11. TS Mux and MultiRecord is false, and I think I have all the survival guide patches applied. Any thoughts?
Just a question here - running a 2.5ghz dual core processor with 2gb ram on Vista 32bit (I know it's not the cat's meow, but it should be adequate), everytime I have ever changed anything in gbpvr config (even just the video decoder, or any channel settings, or anything (I think)), it takes 30-60 seconds for config to close once I hit the "OK" button (or whatever is on the bottom). Is this normal?
My main video card is a PVR250. It has been working fine. Upgraded to the latest version of gbpvr but had to back it out because it was not stopping recordings after the set time. So just installed the earlier version.
Also had problems with config.xml so went back to the dont-edit one, renamed it, reset the parameters etc.
Now for some reason all recordings via my PVR50 (via composite) are overly washed out. I don't think I have changed any settings on the card and can't see where in gbpvr you can adjust brightness settings for recording. The recordings are washed out playing in gbpvr or VLC.
Older recordings made with the card are fine so it's a gbpvr setting I think but can't work out where I should be looking
