Searched forums and wiki but couldn't find this answer. How do you control the aspect ratio with the mouse? The keyboard ( to use F7) is across the room and the PC doesn't have a remote, just a 62" screen and a mouse.

The Clear QAM channels have 6 different pixel resolutions and the HD ones work fine with auto aspect but the majority do not ( SCiFI channel in particular is 528x480 ) and are stretched. The Avermedia software does automatically display the various resolutions close enough to the correct aspect to watch but the rest of the software is too painful to use - hence GBPVR to the rescue.

For that matter how to you program a recording with the mouse? Works fine with the keyboard but can't figure out how to change the settings ( like channel or time) using the mouse. Maybe the answer is buy a remote but I already have 5 of them with this system, none of which are PC compatible.

Setup = AverMedia Volar Max, Dual AMD 3.1Ghz, ATI HD3200 DVI display,62" screen ( no digital tuner). GBPVR witn VMR9 installed without too much problem - did get stuck on how to scan channels because the getting started guide did not mention you have to add at least one channel before you can do a scan.

I have web streams working fine with a few of my favorite stations buut I am having a problem with one. The station is http://www.big106.com. I am able to find the stream using url sniffer 2 but the stream seems to change periodically. It will work for an hour or two but when I go back to it the stream seems to change.

Can someone take a look at it and help me solve this situation?

I figure there is a bit of buzz over the new MediaMVP-HD that sub linked to today and just wanted to say I have no idea what the impact on GBPVR is yet, if mvpmcx2 is still relevant etc, etc. Syabas has hinted at a new player in Q1 too and it like the Hauppauge player is expected to be based on a newer Sigma chip (I would have guessed the SMP8642 and not SMP8654 like the MVPHD) with newer Sigma libraries than any current player. mvpmcx2 definitely will not run on either of these.

On the NMT front although no price is given this device http://www.egreatusa.com/wdhdtvmeplki.html is interesting simply because it is advertised as an NMT at the price of a WD HD.

Got my basics working OK, but now I want to get rid of some remotes!

I have a Sony LCD, Sky STB, MediaMVP, and Philips audio amp.

Which is the better strategy, a universal remote (and which one) or an IR receiver/blaster arrangement?

From what I've seen on the threads, a universal (like Harmony?) might allow me to configure it to run each device so I get down to 1 remote, but GBPVR won't be able to "change the channel" on the STB before recording (is that really reliable?).

The IR blaster would allow me (and GBPVR) to control the STB, but wouldn't allow me to control the other devices (or can you get multiple blasters?).

So I'm leaning towards a universal remote because my wife dislikes all the remotes lying around because she doesn't know which remote to use in what order (and I can't blame her)!

I've just got meself a BluRay drive (LiteOn External USB reader). And have been thinking that when I start getting some disks I should rip them to the server, and maybe convert them to MKVs.

I've found a couple of free programs DVDFab HD and I think another one. But the most popular one seems to be that AnyDVDHD. Is it any good? and is it work the $79 EUR for a 2 year subscription (what's up with that pricing model???)

Sub or anyone else I have been tring to get GBPVR to work with Emubox plugin but can't seem to do it. I thought it must be something I was doing or not doing. Emubox shows in Mdapi as a loaded module but no communication between it and cccam on virtual machine. Everntually after exhausting all possible angles I loaded dvbviewer and hey presto worked first time. I don't understand why GBPVR wont work, Emubox has support for Mdapi and other apps which use Mdapi work so why won't gbpvr. I love GBPVR and wou,d hate to have to move away from it. Please help.....TCM

The mvpmcx2 version supplied with 1.3.11 (dated 20090117) or the patch with the angle-button act as record (dated 20090223) don't work in my setup (A100), whereas the version with 1.3.7 (dated 20081107) works like a charm.

I've captured the logs (stdout and stderr) and attached. Logs don't give me a clue; will you have a look? Thanks in advance.

Before you install be aware of the following:

• This plugin downloads directly from the BBC iPlayer Website, you need to ensure that you delete the recordings after 30 days
  
• The plugin updates yout GBPVR.db3 Database, it does this to add the new recordings, it also adds a new 'Virtual' channel. THIS IS AT YOUR RISK. Even though I have tested it, I suggest you backup your current database before you use the plugin, i cannot be held resposible for any lost recordings.
  
• The plugin has not been tested on a remote client and will be unlikely to work, I might add this behaviour on a later release.
  
• The plugin is still a work in progress, it is likely to have bugs, let me know of more as you find them
  
• You may need to have a transcoding app such as FFMPEG or Mencoder (mPlayer) to be able to use the plugin, specifically with an MVP, a link to mencoder is available from the wiki
  
• Dependancies on this plugin are, Wiztools and CommonGBPVRUtils, both of these are available from the Wiki
  
• The WizUtils dll that I have used isWizUiHelper.dll (1.0.17.11)
  
• The CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll I have used is version 3.0.2847.27302, You need to ensure that you use the Latest version zip file, this is available from CommonGBPVRUtils

im using the analogue signal, so their is no epg. the TuningAssistant have find all the channels. after setting the channels in the capture source manually, channel1, channel2 , their is on livetv only a radio channel.

please help :-)

I whipped up this little program a few days ago, and thought I would post it online for anyone else that may find it useful.

It simply renames the default GBPVR filenames from something like:

Beyond Tomorrow_20090305_04000500.mpg

to a format like this:

Beyond Tomorrow - 60 min - 090305.4000.mpg

I find the new format to be a bit more readable on my Tvix media player, and it makes it easier to see how long a show is before you watch it. For example, if we only have a half hour available, we can easily scan down through our recordings to find the ones that are 30 minutes long. That's much faster and easier than looking at the start and end times and trying to calculate the durations in my head.

You can simply drag and drop a file on the showname.exe file to rename it, but I use a line like this in my script file:

showname.exe "%~dpn1.ts" "D:\Shows"

The first item in quotes is the source file, the second item in quotes is the destination folder. I save new shows in a recording folder for later processing with comskip and VideoRedo, then use my showname utility to rename the output and save it to my viewing folder.

There's not much else to this program, no gui, and minimal error checking, but feel free to use it if you find it helpful. If your original show name doesn't match the GBPVR format, it'll simply abort without doing anything. It should work with any file extension, but I've only tested it with .ts and .mpg files.
