Hi all,

I don't recall having this problem with 0.99.5 (last version I used). I think I am on 1.29. (One before current).

If I go to TV guide and select a program, and say record (either quick or long) the program gets added to pending, but doesn't actually start recording. I have to restart the service for it to record.

This happens to programs that have already started. I think ones that have to start seem to record okay.

Is this something others have seen - or a settings issue?

I've noticed since I've rebuilt my machine that I some times get audio gaps in playback.. Randomly, every recording has at least 1, sometimes as many as 10, gaps in the sound.
The video will look fine, and the sound will come back.

Unfortunently, I've had a lot of things changed in my setup.

Currently:
C2D P8400 processor, 4Gigs ram, Vista Home Premium, MVP with mvpmc dongle, stock install of GBPVR, 7200RPM HD SATA

Config is:
All renders and Decoders are set to "System Default"
PVRX2 Video Renderer is set to EVR (not sure if this affects MVP or not) I have not intentionally installed any decoders on system.

I have NOT tried rewinding during playback to see if the gap is in the file on a specific point (if the gap doesn't move), or if it's playback thing (if the gap moves), or seen if the gap exists on playback on my PC. (Yes I know I should do these things)

I'll post back with the results of those tests.

In the meantime, I've got a lot of different variables. New system, new Dongle (Loving the mvpmc so far, it's MUCH faster than the Haup dongle) new codecs. I was hoping someone might have a specific area to look at.

This is to make a record of some things I've learned about my Twinhan 1020a, and to ask some questions for anyone who may have answers.

I'd particularly appreciate comments on speed/usability/WAF from anyone who has more than a few hundred channels in their guide from XMLTV sources.

Here's my situation:

I've just finished lots of testing and setup of my new DVB-S card. From Ebay I have a Twinhan 1020a tuning a DishPro Twin LNBF.

My first Twinhan 1020a was bad. The second works great, but it does not supply enough power to DiSEqC switch the DP Twin LNBF reliably. I ran a second cable to the second LNBF port and connected that to an old receiver. That supplies enough power so that the GBPVR switching via the 1020 works great. I've seen discussion of an external power mod for the 1020a, or a power inserter and may look at that. If you are running this combo, I'd love to hear how well it works with DiSEqC switching for you.

On the speed issue, I'm not worried about the slow startup. It takes me about 3 minutes for guide data to populate the guide screen when pvrx2 is first executed (v 1.2.13). I'm also not worried about the time to updateEPG. That happens at night.

Scrolling in the guide happens fast. Selecting a program to record from the guide happens quickly, provided there is no other scheduled program at that time. If there is, however, GBPVR goes off to la-la land for nearly 3 minutes. Canceling a program scheduled to record takes 3 minutes.

I strongly suspect that all my testing may have corrupted my gbpvr.db, or left in it in an unexpected state - perhaps one that slows it down severely. I've added and deleted numerous sources, I've run manual SQL batch files to directly modify gbpvr.db3 and map tuning data to channel data, I've changed XMLTV source files for existing , etc. All of this could have made my install work poorly.

I'm planning to delete everything, and reinstall from scratch to get a very clean DB now that I know what I want in there, but I'd appreciate comments on speed/usability from anyone else who has hundreds of channels with 11 day guide data. If I really need to trim down the channels, I'll do that before my clean reinstall.

As a noob I've been making slow progress in getting things operational but I can't change channel on my SL65 sat box. I can record using the EPG but I have to manually set the desired channel on the SL65.

I tried uninstalling GB-PVR and using the downloaded Hauppauge "CD" under WinXP-MCE to test but Win-MCE complains that "the graphics card or driver" isn't compatible and eventually freezes before it finishes identifying all the remote codes.

A complication is that my headless server (which I access for Config using VNC) has only VGA graphics so doesn't run PVRX2. I run GB-PVR in client mode on my desktop machine and trust that its settings don't cause any conflicts with the installation on the server.

Anyone have any pointers?

i do a clean install of gbpvr, then ML2, ML2 appears in the plugin list, but no matter what settings i choose i get 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' when selecting ML2 from within GBPVR

any ideas?

do i need taglib or something like it?

a readme, or install notes with the plugin, would be verrrry helpful!

i have moved over to gbpvr after 3years with meedio. i don't want to have to go back...

Hi I`m trying to connect a MVP via a homeplug, so my setup is PC to Homplug (No router) and then Homeplug to MVP, But I cannot connect. Is it possible to do without a router.

So I have a show that the Wife and I watch, "The Unit"

Unfortunately, Sunday night football plays havoc with schedule on the channel, and start times can be up to 40 minutes off on shows.

I went to the scheduled recordings screen and updated the recording to PrePad 5 minutes, and post pad 45 minutes. (I'm assuming the interval is minutes)

Last night, my recording of "The Unit" was only 1 hour. Exactly 1 hour. Not 1 hour and 45 minutes like I expected.

What did I do wrong?

I'm keen to get a GBPVR setup up & running, but I'm slightly put off by the many threads detailing problems getting DVB-S cards working.

I have an unused dish I want to utilise but I'd really like a nice stable configuration thats not a pain to setup. Which card offers the easiest/smoothest entry to the world of GBPVR?

Ideally I'd like to be able to look at the HD channels as well, I can playback downloaded high def content on the PC currently so I think its up to the job.

Would something like a Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-S be the simplest way to get setup?
I was looking at Compro VideoMate S350 but people seem to have to do a lot of manual hacking to get the channels etc setup.

Don't want to spend a fortune initially, if I get hooked and find I'm getting a lot of usage from the rig I'll be happy to buy a fancier card later.

THe wiki says that CRTL_G will change audio tracks while watching a DVD... Is there a way to tell GB-PVR to change audio tracks for other video files while in the Video Library.

I have some VOBs. They are multi language, VLC says that they are ordered French, Spanish, English. I only hear French with GB-PVR

VLC says that English is the third track, but MEncoder thinks the tracks are in reverse order... (???) English is suppsoed to be the first track...


Anyway, it would be great to choose, inside the Video Library...
