As a noob to this side of computing, what would you recommend as the most stable, sure-fire, idiot resistant, high performance HDTV streaming hardware/software solution? After building a couple of these rigs, I imagine that you guys have pretty much narrowed the real set of criteria to create a quality playback/record/stream system, as well as finding and avoiding the junk and the under powered, low performance items. Thoughts...?

I've purchased a Hauppaugge HVR-1950 and I've installed GBPVR 1.2.13 on a laptop with 1.5ghz core2duo, 1.5gb ram, running Vista. In Config, when I'm attempting to set the capture source, I don't see the HVR-1950 listed as one of the devices.

So after that change, when I attempt to add a capture source and I select the Capture Card Type and use the checkbox to Show Devices installed on this machine, I see the HVR-1950 listed. I set this up with the Composite setting (there are 3, I tried all three). I have the HVR-1950 connected via composite to my STB.

However, after selecting that type I don't see to have success with getting LiveTV to work. Rightclicking on the system tray icon for gbpvr and then going to status show the capture sources as "sleeping".

I know the device works as it seems to be fine with WinTV.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As per the install directions, I am looking for how to add support for the two cards I do have. Here is my filter check log copy. Thanks for your help in advance, Jeff

My EPG did not update early this morning. I do know that I can update the EPG from the System page within PVRX2.

I have attached a snapshot of the Config page.

I noticed that the scheduled EPG update time is grayed out. Is this why it did not happen?

When Config exits, there is a window that appears that is labelled "Information". After initially having some text in it, =it then goes blank and the title line says "Not Responding" until COnfig finally exits.

Config usually takes several minutes to complete its exit. During that time the Task Manager shows almost no processing being done by Config.

Is there supposed to be something in the Information window? Is there something I should change so the window is not always blank?

Is it normal for Config to take a long time to exit?

Hi folks
I have three popcorns. 1 running on 1080p the 2nd on 720p and the third on Pal.
With the new script is there anyway to do all three. I also have to use emulate command on the end.

I am having trouble with PVRX2 starting. It takes approx. 2.5 minutes from double clicking the icon to the menus appearing.

Is this normal?

System:-
Win XP Home
HDD1 20GB Partition for system
HDD1 80GB Partition for TV Recordings
HDD2 500GB HDD for Movies
512MB RAM
AMD Athlon 2400+ 2.0GHz

How long do livetv temp files hang around? I left CNN HD on and I came back to find this

It was discovered that with the release of VLC 9.2 streaming via EWA becomes inoperable.

I think I have now figured it out....there was a tweak as the command line format for launching the stream interface.

I'll probably put a patch out here for people to try....this will require people to upgrade VLC on their server to version 9.2.

I'll keep you posted.....
