I've been running gbpvr on my second output of an Nvidia 7600GS for a while with the fullscreen, start on second monitor option. I just got a second video card, 8400GS pci-e x1 to run a third monitor.

Somehow, Windows decided that the 7600 would be monitor 1 and 3 and that the 8400 would be monitor 2...??

Now, gbpvr starts on my second monitor instead or 3rd monitor which is my tv.

How I got around that, is to disable monitor 2, start gbpvr, on monitor 2, then turn on my second monitor and tv becomes monitor3, gbpvr somehow remembers which monitor it was started on and then starts on monitor 3. this is an acceptable workaround since I don't reboot often.

The issue is that now I don't get d3d acceleration on my second 7600 output, and this way and uses 50% of my dual-core processor to display, using Nvidia decoders, before it was less than 10%.

The way I get around this to reduce cpu usage is to use overlay mode and intervideo decoders, but this has its disadvantages...

Does anyone have any idea how I could use monitor 3 and get d3d acceleration with Nvidia decoders?

Building my first PVR and want to know which remotes work with the GBPVR software. Does the basic (grey color) remote that comes with the Hauppauge cards work with the GBPVR software? Or is there a certain type of remote thats needed like a windows media center remote?

Computer will be either a XP pro or a Vista Home premium. Rather stay with XP but if vista is alot better for this then i will go that route.

Going to use two Hauppauge WINTV-HVR1600 cards. Want to be able to record 2 analog shows at same time hence the 2 cards. I have just analog cable control no box. just cable out of the wall.

I never use the transcode option but tried it tonite setting it to transcode to xvid. After the recording completed, I can see and hear my system 'get busy' but I can't find the file. I don't even see where the default saved location is and a search of my system yielded nothing as far as I can tell.
So, though I assume it worked, where might this file be automtically saved?

i'm trying to use the "-import:filename" new command but it balks at anythign i try..
tried "-importhow-dump.xml" and -import:"show-dump.xml" and just plain old -importhow-dump.xml but nothing seems to work...what am i doing wrong?

i have been trying for weeks to get this software to allow me to watch hd clear qam with my hauppauge 2250. suddenly a few nights ago i got a security error.

logon process has failed to create the security options dialog

i haven't done anything else new to it really other than mess around with gbpvr installation. i also can't get my computer usable again because of whatever this problem is. it takes about fifteen minutes to boot up, when it does boot up. after that, everything is so slow i can't actually run any software before it eventually freezes on me.

I know transcoding from DVR-MS is a two step process, but my current install seems to be stopping after creating the first step; sourcename-temp.mpg file.

I can then manually select the -temp.mpg file and transcode to divX or whatever without any problems. I was just hoping to streamline the process.

The convert log doesn't seem to show any errors. (attached)

i have gbpvr 1.2.13, everytime i try to open picture library it looks like it is going to open the it goes right back to the main screen. It definatly used to work but Im not sure exactly when since I dont use it frequently. I have deleted and readded the path to the picture folder. It is on a network share but I can browse to it manually using windows explorer. I have attached my log files. I wasnt sure which ones so i attached a few of them

I have spent some time poking around trying to find info on HD. I know other noobs like myself have the same questions so...please answer the questions below more experienced users and other noobs feel free to add some more questions.
(I know these answers can be found with some digging, but a centralized post would be more effective for noobs looking to make the HD jump)

Here are some questions to get started:

I go thru the local cable/satellite company for my television. SD is a snap with GBPVRs easy setup, now I would like to make the step up to HD. So my first step is to call the cable company and upgrade my package to HD. That being said, and the new HD cable/satellite box(s) delivered to my house...

1)What are my options for setups in terms of hardware?

2) Best capture cards for HD?

3) What is OTA?

4) What is QAM?

5) If i have an HD receiver box from my tv company, which signal am I using?

6) Is the PCH a viable option? What are its strengths and weaknesses?

7) Is the HDHomerun a viable option? What are its strengths and weaknesses?

8) Where is the best place to purcahse these items?

9) Lets assume I want to build a setup with 3 tuners capable of both HD and SD, if i build from scratch what am I looking at monetarily?

10) If I am capable of following instructions on this forum, where is the best place to start setting up and codec/decoder issues with HD?

11) What are the minimum specs for a system with 3 tuners capable of receiving/recording HD and SD?

12) If I would like to run a client like the PCH or the MVP, does this change my minimum system specs?

13) Using schedules direct, where is the best place to start on this forum to get all my HD and SD channels setup correctly in the guide?

14) Assuming all parts are at hand, what is the estimated setup time for a basic HD capable system? A system with multiple tuners?

I'm asking myself if anyone would be intersted in a wikipedia plugin too. I think thats one of the plugins that can boost gbpvr up. I have started a little investigating the wikipedia interfaces, but to be realstic, I can spend so less time in it that the alpha release would be not be ready until 2020.

So I would like to ask if someone would be interested in sharing this project, regardless of your skills. I would suggest to start a sourceforge project.
