Hi guys, have put this in GD because it has nothing to do with GB-PVR, I just need some advice from those who know more about media playback than me!
Basically, I'm trying to playback HD video on one of my machines that I have hooked up to a TV - at the moment I have audio that plays fine, but video that consistently freezes for seconds at a time, having to catch up. This is a fresh install of Vista on the following hardware:
P4 3.0Ghz single core
2GB RAM
Nvidia 7600GS video card
The only codecs I have installed is the CCCP (combined community codec pack?) which is using FFDshow to playback the .mkv file I'm using to test. Performance is no better in VLC player using built-in codecs (whatever they are!) In VLC, I tried disabling Overlay mode, but that made things worse.
I'm guessing that the hardware is struggling to cope here, though am struggling to work out which bit! CPU usage is around the 50% mark with just 30MB of RAM being used when trying to play the file. Is it the video card that's struggling? Is there a more efficient codec I can use to watch HD on this machine?
I'm going to be giving someone a hand at getting gbpvr running on one of their PC's. It is going to start off running dvi/vga to their TV and if they're happy, then move to a PCH/MVP at Christmas.
They have a choice of video card - the Nvidia 8500GT 512mb (AGP I think) and the ATI HD2400pro 1gb PCIe

Let's say you have a Freview DVB-T capture card and a Freesat DVB-S capture card. With Freeview you can get the epg from the transmissions. Freesat epg is not currently supported in GBPVR so you use a grabber and write an XML file from the Radio Times site data. Is GBPVR capable of sorting out a "master epg" from the two data sources, choose the right capture source for recording and sort out any conflicts?
I'm asking because the last time I tried this I ended up with duplicate entries in the Programme Guide for all channels which were transmitted on both Freeview and Freesat.
I was wondering if anyone on here had any recommendations for software that gives technical information on a DTT stream. Stuff like signal strength, quality, SNR, bitrate, format and all that good jazz.
Since our move to Mpeg4 I'm getting alot more artifacts and the logs are reporting some varying quality levels (from 40% -100%).
My googling didn't turn up much, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Hi, everyone. As you can see I'm very new to GBPVR and have set it up and have it working well (1.2.13).
The only problem I'm facing right now is setting up my DVB-S receiver (Pinnacle PCTV 400e USB) to scan channels.
I've searched the forum up and down, but couldn't find any solution - am I the only one with this problem?? :confused:
Anyway, I have a monobloc lnb with two heads, one looks at Astra 19,2 and the other one at Hotbird 13.0. The dish is set up correctly because I can view all channels from both satellites with my STB.
I've set up two different capture sources (one for Hotbird and one for Astra), have set the Diseqc setting to SimpleA for Hotbird and SimpleB for Astra. Scanning Hotbird worked quite well (even though it couldn't find all the channels which are available) but I had no luck scanning Astra channels. I've tried all possible Diseqc settings (even used SimpleA for Astra too) without any luck. :mad:
I'm stuck cause I don't know why the system is able to scan Hotbird channels but not Astra channels. Did I do something wrong with the Diseqc?
What I've also noticed is that if I change the Diseqc setting for Hotbird (SimpleB instead of SimpleA) it still scanned channels. :confused:

I have just reformatted one of my old computers and installed .net 2.0, vcredist_x86, capture drivers, gbpvr and multiple codecs and when I click on PVRX2 I get a window that is seethrough and can only see the XP Bliss desktop image in the background, No Menu.
I installed gbpvr on my laptop and everything works (except I don't have a capture device in my laptop).
I have tried multiple codecs and configurations in the config.eve menu with no luck. The best I've done is select VMR9 Fullscreen exclusive and get a full black screen when starting PVRx2.
I've attached the last two logs, hope their the right ones.
I am from India. We do not have a good source of EPG. Microsoft supplies EPG for only 112 channels while there are over 250 channels.
I have convinced a content aggregator to provide their EPG to the general public in XMLTV format. They are currently working on it and it should be ready in a week's time.
The problem is that the EPG is over 30MB in XML format. While this is required for the initial load of the EPG data into PVR applications, later on all that is required is to load just the changes to the EPG data.
The changes could be change in Movie, Rescheduled Sports events and of course new guide data for future days. How can just this information be published by the provider?
How can I tell the provider that I need the following Guide information?

Need only 130 of 250 channels
Need updates to the existing guide data
Need new guide data for future dates[/INDENT]
Need the complete guide data
It is very important that the guide data has to be in XMLTV format so as to make it work with as many PVR applications as possible.
