I have a virgin PC with 780G mobo and X5600 CPU, to use for GBPVR.
All I have installed on it is three OS's in a tri-boot:
XP SP3, XP 64 SP2, Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I was going to make it quad-boot with Vista 64-bit, but decided that was OTT!
I would like input form anyone who has built a 780G HTPC. I cannot even decide which OS to use! Hence the multiple boot options. I have read the posts about trouble getting hardware acceleration working with H264 videos, and I really don't know where to start.
I have not installed an OS from scratch for a decade. I upgraded Win98 to ME, then upgraded ME to XP I have changed mobo and CPU many times, and always done a repair install of 98/ME/XP to get them working with the new hardware. It seems so daunting to start with a clean slate. Now I have three clean slates! So if you have a 780g system working well with PVRX2, what are you using?

I set the "Video Renderer" in PVR2 to "Overlay Manager" in order to stop the picture tearing and flickering in full screen mode (1680x1050) which always happens when using the VMR9 renderer and was getting extremely annoying watching science fiction or action movies, especialy in the top right hand corner which as 1 or 2 frames behind the rest of the picture, but none of the buttons on the on-screen menu will work using the mouse pointer, so the only way I can change channels or exit live video is by using my remote control.

can anyone help me with this? I have just setup a new htpc with Vista as a client with streaming option. The client connection is working because I can see the epg and also when I try to view live tv it starts the recording on the server. Unfortunately all I see on the client is a black screen! I can't even close this screen as gbpvr stops responding so have to kill it in task manager. Anyone have any ideas? If it helps I'm using mpv and mpa codecs and evr as the renderer on the client. Thanks in advance Oh also forgot to say same thing happens if I try to view recordings made previously on the server which work fine on the server!

Hi All

I seem to be having some trouble setting recording options. When I select a program to record I have the option to select how often it records (top line), record quality (2nd line) etc.

At the moment I can't easily change these. I am using a mouse, which with the key mapping program tells me that the extra mouse keys produce %Right and %Left. How can I incorporate this into the appropriate xml file. (is it recordings .xml ?)

Any help appreciated.

By the way GBPVR is a most impressive piece of software. Many thanks to you writers who have put so much work into it.

I can get PCH to run GBPVR and play songs from the Music Library but if I go into Recordings and try to play back a program that had been recorded, PCH crashes. I've attached a copy of the MVP-PVRX2.exe log file from when the crash occurred (at the end of the log).

I can play back the MPGs using the PCH software.

I assume that I am close but something is set wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

I was a gbpvr user for years on my main pc but I wanted to go dedicated so I thought going to Mythv was a better option.

Linux is such a god damn pain with ir blasters and s-video out and drivers etc.. that I want to go back to gbpvr.

I really wanted this feature though:

Is there a plugin that watches the recording and keeps going if the 'game' goes into overtime?

I've only just started playing with the PCH, so please have patience if there are a number of questions that I can't seem to find with a search.

All working well and once you have the box in your hand and connected, the instructions make sense (unlike when I was just reading them).

My current problem is that when I press "stop" during playing back a recording, the screen goes blank, there is a quick flash and back to black again. I can't seem to make any keys do anything at this point.

Telnet is still running and I can send a reboot command that does what it says (which saves getting up and unplugging it).

I don't know if there are any suitable logs that may be of use?

Just tried letting a recording play to the end and the same happens - blank screen.

update, moments after posting...... Just found out that pressing "return" takes it back to the gbpvr menu from the blank screen. So not as awkard as I first thought.

I've been having problems with one of the tuners on my HDHomeRun.

Silicondust was very prompt in replying to my trouble ticket w/ RMA procedures - customer support seems very good over there.

I haven't disconnected my HDHomeRun yet, but I was wondering if it will cause any problems to leave the tuners defined in Config when I disconnect it.

I've cancelled any recordings scheduled that would use that device, I mainly want to leave it in place for now to hold on to the guide information (I always seem to have issues if I remove and replace it - I end up with twice as many channels).

Obviously, I wouldn't be able to watch or record anything on those channels, but didn't know if this would break anything else.
