Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T 500 Dual digital DVB-T PCI TV Tuner card
I rebuilt my machine (P4 with 1GB RAM) at the same time and it's now running XP SP2 with DirectX 9.0c. Installed the card driver and then installed ChrisTV 5.1.2 Professional.
Initially I installed GBPVR but after having a few issues ran a search on the GBPVR forum and there was a thread stating GBPVR was overkill if all you wanted to do was watch TV through the PC (which I do) and that you should use something like ChrisTV.
However it turns out you can't use ChrisTV with a digital tuner.
Can anyone recommend another piece of software that I can use instead?
I've seen a lot of bad reviews about WinTV so don't really want to use it unless I have to....
I am trying to use GBPVR as a client. I am not able to set share paths for "Recordings Share" and "TV Buffer Share" textboxes as both these textboxes as well as the browse button next to them are disabled. There is already some text in the disabled textboxes (something like \\hushpc\MyVideos) but this is totally wrong as there is no such path on my LAN. What am I missing here?

I've got a media pc running XP with a hauppauge HVR-1600 and Skystar2 DVB card. I'm using DVB Dream to watch SAT TV with no problem. I loaded GBPVR and the the latest BDA drivers for the Skystar2. However, I can't seem to get GBPVR to recognize the card. It sees the Hauppauge, but not the Skystar2. I've followed all the directions/how to's I could find, but no luck. The error I get is "Failed to locate configured BDA capture device" when trying to map channels. Any ideas?
Is there a way to get a listing of Shoutcase TV streams into Ubustream?
VLC on my server can list them, and plays them, and I've pasted my favorites into Ubustream one at a time(so I can play on MVP), but sometimes they get stale, new ones come up, etc.
Maybe it's nothing more than a dynamic source plugin.
Previous versions of gbpvr would have a brief pause between programs, where presumably the old file is stopped and a new one started for the new program. The newest version goes back to the TV guide once the program has finished meaning you then have to select the next program to watch. Is this intended behaviour or a problem on my system ?

I just reformated and reinstalled everything and now im getting the error message "Sorry, this system does not support the Required VMR9 Video Renderer."
I have Direct X 9.0C installed, The most recent video card drivers, Net Framework 2.0 as well as the most recent runtime.
I then installed the newest version of GBPVR.
I setup my Tuner Card Via Config/Capture Source, I pull all the channels and such.
My Current Video Decoder is Intervideo, although I have tried several others as well. If I try and load the program while my renderer is set to VMR9 it will not load, if I set it to overlay manager I can get into it and see picture etc.
I did have PowerDVD/Cyberlink on the system but have since uninstalled it. I also have the Klite Codec pack currently on the system.
What am I missing? I figure it must be something simple as Ive had the program up and running before with VMR9.

The reason that I am thinking of getting this is with my current setup the CPU gets up to 60 on hot days, which from what I understand, AMD Athlons run hotter and as it is I shut the system off at night. The problem is when I go on vacation it needs to run all the time. It looks like my graphics card and tuner cards will work, but is it worth the money? Maybe I should first try and modify my case to get more air to the system, like cut a hole in the side panel and add a screen and possibly another fan?
Hi - I upgraded to 1.2.13 and the latest Monogram filter.
On TV3 (New Zealand) I'm getting a sound synchronisation problem - it sounds like there's an echo going on! It's distinct, but I can still hear the soundtrack clearly. Some programs and ad's don't have the problem, but most seem to.
it's nice cuz you just run it once and the rest is all built into windows..
set it and forget it...
to see updated interval reflected immediately, stop 'windows time service' service, run this util, then restart the service...
then go dbl-click on time in tray and goto internet time tab, and notice the next update time has changed...
