Tuner works fine in Vista Media Center as well as Pinnacle's tuner software just cant get it to work gbpvr fails with message Failed to locate configured BDA capture device. Please Help.
Looks like the bda.ini isn't quite right for PCTV HD Pro Stick as i can't get past Edit Recording Source setup part.

I'm in the process of building a multi-room DVR/HTPC system. I'm trying to decide on my capture cards now, and I'm having some trouble; hoping you all can help me out.
All my programming will be coming from cable set top boxes. It will all be SD. I'm planning on having just two cable boxes, and running them via some sort of IR blaster. I will be running the recording from a single server, then streaming the content to one of two different boxes.
I'm trying to decide now between two Hauppauge cards. Either the WinTV-PVR-150 MCE, or the WinTV-HVR-1600. I'm assuming that even though the 1600 has two tuners, it can only record from one at a time in gb-prv, correct? If this is correct, then either way I'm looking at two cards. In addition to these cards, I'm going to have to have some sort of IR blaster. I can buy one of the prebuilt - supported ones ($50), or use the included ones in the 1600. The 150 is about $50 right now, the 1600 is like $84. So I'm looking at a total of $150 for two 150's plus a blaster, or $170 for two 1600's that come with them. I 'may' at some point in the future end up adding OTA HD, which is why I'm kind of leaning towards the 1600s.
Also wondering how much the format is going to matter with each of these cards. I'm not sure I'm asking that question correctly...basically I'm thinking I'm going to go from the cable box to the cards via coax cable. Is the cable box outputting the signal in analogue anyway, or is it coming out as something else? (I'm trying to learn all this stuff as I go).
Finally, if I do end up going with the 150, do I actually need windows MC? I have it available if so; I just thought I might save some power/space by using xp pro, since I'm not going to be using the media center part of it anyway.
Anything else I'm forgetting? I'm sure I'll be posting a bunch more questions as they come up.

After upgrading to 1.2.13, I can successfuly see and scroll through the main menu using my hardwired MVP. However, when I select Xrecord, Xguide, Xsearch it crashes the MVP and "connects to servers". I have no problems accessing xrecord, etc from the computer.
I've tried reinstalling xrecord with no luck. i've tried the different dongles (default, 1.1.51, 1.1.58,mvpmc) also with no luck. I have also attached my logs. I'm not sure what to try next. Thank you.

Anyone using one of these with GBPVR? I assume viewing/recording can only be done one at a time (i.e. analog or DVB-T but not both at the same time), but is the analog hardware mpeg encoded? Any setup issues?
I can't seem to find some new channels with the GB-PVR program, but I can find them fine in other programs that I used to test if it was a reception problem or a software problem, and it looks like a software problem. Any ideas?
We've been running GB-PVR 0.99.5 for a couple of years. Fantastic, we think GB-PVR is the best, blogged about it here. I just took the plunge to upgrade after we've moved and finished the networking. I needed to retune the RF and I figured I should upgrade.
I downloaded and installed the newest .NET framework (first time failed so I unstalled the one I had and reinstalled) as well as the updated Microsoft runtime. All appeared to run fine.
I downloaded and ran GBPVR10213.msi. The installer runs to what seems like the very end, then backtracks and finally ends with a pop-up window fatal error.
Sad thing is then I tested my previous installation of GB-PVR. It runs ok but as soon as I try Live TV it gives the error "no connection can be made because the target machine actively refused it".
I feel crippled, we use this as our primary recording device. If I see any feedback will try to do what you suggest, and report back on any of your recommendations. (logs.rar attached)

I know that I can chop recordings in video editing software- however, is there some (preferably free software) that will enable me to chop the beginning and ending padding off multiple gbpvr recordings quickly?
I have gigs worth of Tom 'n Jerry, Thomas the Tank engine and Bob the Builder I would like to sort out for the kids, but need to get the job done as quickly as possible for my own sanity!
