I'd really like to make gbpvr my standalone media center. This means eliminating my dvd player. My problem is that some dvd's (with special dvd rom features) ask to install interactual player on loading the disk. this is annoying 'cause I have to run accross the room, plug my mouse in and hit cancel. (i'm really lazy). Is there a way to stop this from happening? (I'm sure the dvd has an autorun file that starts the interactual install file). I'd really like to get around this. Any help would be appreciated.

i modified the ATI_HD_Reg_Tweaks_0.14.vbs to include the new settings in newest drivers...detail and denoise have changed location, and some other bits are different but not much...

I left all the old reg tweaks in there and only added things i saw in my driver's .inf file [cat 8.3]

seems to be stable locations for past several drivers...[back to 8.1 i believe]
so i bet they won't change too soon..

Twice this week I've discovered recording which have ended too soon. Chuck on Monday only recorded 3 minutes which initially I put down to a glitch in the EPG (I thought maybe the end time had been set to 2203 in stead of 2300) but then last night Shark only recorded for about 34mins. Most shows are aired again so I can re-record them later (I successfully recorded Monday’s Chuck last night) but it's a nuisance.
I've attached the logs. Anyone got any ideas what might be causing it?

I wrote a couple of perl scripts (compiled to EXE). Just wondered if anyone was interested. I couldn't quite find something that suited my needs.

Comskip script
I didn't like how on my PVR comskip would max the CPU making the fan really go right after recording. So I wrote a script that (via scheduled task) looked at all the MPG or DVR-MS files and do 5 or 10 at once, or what ever number I configured it for in the middle of the night. It would leave recordings already done alone.

Thumbnail script
On startup this would use FFMPEG to make thumbnails of all the AVI's, etc. Same name but with JPG extension. Obvoiusly doesn't do the video twice. Config file specifies resolution and location to put thumbnails, either same directory as AVI or another, etc.

Does GBPVR support QAM or only ATSC & NTSC over the air? I have a Dvico HDTV7 Dual Express and am looking for PVR software that supports QAM. If GBPVR does not support QAM will it support my Dvico card for over the air use?

I recently when to Virgin Plus, so I can record TV, etc. So I would no longer need the recording function in GBPVR. Just AVI's, photos. I decided to have a look at Media Portal. I must say it looks so pretty. But it did have a few issues, crashing, etc.

Finally got everything looking damn good. I notice any posts on the forum over there get no replies, it's amazing, as such I still hang out here.

Anyone gone Media Portal and stayed with Media Portal or people gone and came back to GBPVR? I'm not sure about the recording part of Media Portal as don't use it.

Is the reason so many people use GBPVR is because of it's robustness and ability to just keep going and going? Because no offence to anyone, but Media Portal does 'look' better appearance wise.

As a side note, I just started using FFDSHOW to upscale to 1080p, highly recommended!

Could you modify the allowable extensions for upload to include the 7-zip file type .7z?

Data, especially logs, can be more tightly compressed with this.

Couple of questions/problems

1. Since using this utility on my XML file i'm finding that the "pending" screen seems to show every instance of a re-occuring pending recording. Say "The Tudors" which is new once a week, and repeated like 4 times a day for the next week, shows up about 20 times. Will it record this everytime? or will those be skipped once it has one completed recording?

2. I use Yapi2XML to download my listings, and I have Yapi add a * after any new program. I tried to have UltraXMLTV do this too but 90% of programs ended up with a *, where as Yapi seems to be able to correctly identify which programs are new. Now, the programs show as "The Tudors *" and it seems that UltraXMLTV cannot receive season/episode information because of that *.

Any ideas?
