I know that the wiki has a good list of recommended cards. However, when you go and check the forums, you see people having problems with those supported cards (skystar 2 for example).

I was wondering if it would be worth having a voting system for each card, so people can vote when they have a card that really works well in GBPVR. This way, the best and most suitable card for each solution (DVB-T, DVB-S and hybrid) can be determined.

That, or someone can tell me the best DVB-S card to use with GBPVR so I can get freesat (just had a Hauppage HVR-3000 clap out on me, the third Hauppage card to do so )

I want to have one instance of an object which accessible from all pages in the application. What is the best way of doing it?

I've 'googled' it but can't seem to find a straight answer Any ASP.NET gurus out there?

I have been following GBPVR for a long time, suggesting it to many friends as a free HTPC front end and PVR alternative. I come back often to check how the new builds are progressing. I am a SageTV user and have been for a long time. I also use Meedio and XBMC as well as routinely try out new builds of Media Portal as well as various other HTPC apps. Pretty much if there is a windows HTPC app out there, I have used it.

Recently I have acquired an Avermedia m780. I have had not much luck with QAM support under XP with any other application including Avermedia's own Mediacenter. I just tried GBPVR 1.2.9, and WOW! How easy was that to setup and get QAM working. GBPVR sees all the QAM channels I know I have available and tuning each channel is very fast. I have been trying to get such support under Sage for quite some time, and I must say I am very jealous how well it is working with GBPVR.

After doing a channel scan I have a long list of available channels, but not all of them will actually tune. Is this because they are encrypted? I also noticed some of my channels are not mapped like mv TV's digital tuner does. Here are a few examples:

TV - 102.1
GBPVR - 102.3

Dual Hauppauge PVR250s - I get constant judder when playing back anything recorded with these tuner cards. (saving in .mpg format). Only way to get rid of the judder is to either repeatedly hitting the # key, or skip back and forward.

However, if I dowload a show from BitTorrent in .avi format, it plays perfectly, whether I skip forward or back.

Latest Hauppauge drivers.

And will it work with GBPVR? It's only about $140 and has DUAL HD/QAM/NTSC tuners in a PCI-E format.

I searched the forums and saw the suggestion to export recordings, rename gbpvr.db3 to gbpvr.db3.old then delete my adapter and recreate.

I have a HVR-1800MCE. I'm running 1.2.9 and using the zap2xml scrape to get channel guide.

Issue appeared for the first time after I did 2 things, so not sure which actually caused the problem. I added a splitter and tuned HD channels. I also reran zap2xml batch file - I'm under the impression I'll have to redo the batch file at least every 10 days?

Recordings still work, but the multiple channel #'s is annoying since I know it didn't do it before, ie, I broke it.

Opening the xmltv.xml I saw entries like this:

I was thinking I could just remove 2 of the <display-name> lines per channel ID, but that gave me (no show details) for channel 2 and 4 after making that change?

I did spend time searching the forums for channel duplicate and other variants and didn't find what I took as an answer.

I deleted the QAM entry for my HVR 1800 in attempts to get it back the way it was.

I have been playing with this for a couple of weeks now.
DVB-T signal in New Zealand runs fine on PVRX2 as live tv.
When recorded - the playback is a bit glitchy and sound gets out of sinc with video. Resets if pause and replay but after a few seconds it happens again.
Files play ok with VLC Media Player - no problems. With Windows Media Player - there is no sound at all.
These effects seem to be independant of whatever codecs i use.
Win Media Player uses Haali media splitter (it pops up in the tray)
My Understanding is that PVRX2 uses windows native media handling for playback and i have a feeling that this is where the problem lies. Does anybody have a clue how i can fix this?

I am trying to run GBPVR on a quite old PC:
P4 1.3Ghz
384MB RD RAM
Wndows XP Pro

The capture card is a Hauppage PVR-150.

The program lags a lot when I do thinks like pause or rewind, is this because the computer I am using is very slow?

Also, the recording quality is not good at all...it is very poor. I have tried to change the capture settings to High, but can someone give me good settings to record in good quality? Ive read that this card has good recording quality and I ope to make use of it. (I am recording for computer playback, so it should be slightly better than TV quality recording, if thats possible).

I am currenty formatting that computer to re-instal the newest version of GBPVR and see if it makes a difference, although I dont think it will. I will try to post screens when I do that also if that helps.

Sub, it looks like you have some serious competion when it comes to features (e.g. picture-in-picture) - but it can go further! Take a look at my post on the DVBViewer forum.
