I will have to build another server due to unforseen events. What is a recommended cheap-ish video card (like $50-$60)? HD2600? I'm not sure if want to go IGP with the 780g mobo again because I don't have to due to the bigger case I'm getting.

Also, a recommended microATX mobo.

Edit: Oops, forgot to mention it will be for hi def video and I would like the hardware acceleration to actually work in XP this time

I got a blank screen instead of GBPVR after pressing stop the video. I can't get out of this blank screen at all even pressing home button or TV mode follow by 0, etc...I have to telnet to PCH and reboot it to regain control of PCH.

Is it possible to make a hot button red to reboot PCH? instead of telnet or unplug the power.

Hi ppl,

This has been discussed in the past, but I am having a problem starting GBPVR with it coming up full screen. It will open maximized, but the start menu and taskbar are still visible. If I start it from the start menu using a mouse, it opens full screen no problem. But the green button start method does not open it properly.

I have tried the following codes in irremote.ini:

GRNPower={run(C:\Progra~1\Devnz\Gbpvr\Pvrx2.exe)}

and

GRNPower={run(C:\Progra~1\Devnz\Gbpvr\Pvrx2.exe)} {(sleep2000)}{findwnd(,GB-PVR)}{fgnwnd()}

These are both listed under the [Default] section btw.

Any ideas?

I've updated to the new Version of GBPVR. Looks very good so far, but I've encountered my tuning problem explained in the thread SECAM channels in PAL environment again. I think the patch Sub made the last time isn't compatible with the current version of gbpvr, right?

So is it possible to reimplement the capture card scoped ForceStandard option again?

Firstly, my compliments on a great PVR! Sub, I don’t know how you manage to spend time on anything else!

I’ve pretty much worked-out most of the bugs, but I have two nagging problems that hopefully are an easy fix for someone more experienced.

I’m trying to get HD content on BEV in Canada on Nimiq 2, 82W. I have it now to the point where I’ll get video & audio after a delay of up to 5 minutes. If I change channels, I have to wait another 5 minutes. Audio starts right away. SD video works fine all the time. I don’t have a very good grasp of codecs, but from what I’ve read, it’s got something to do with non-standard HD video on BEV.

The second problem may be easier (or not). I have 5 LNBs, with 2 on one port of my 4X1 diseqc switch. With MT, TSReader or DVBDream, I can switch the 22kHz switch no problem changing the SW from 0 to 11700. I am unable to control the 22kHz switch behind the diseqc switch in GBPVR.

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

While watching any digital channel the volume control on remote has no effect. The volume slider icon shows on screen and responds but no effect on audio. If I change channels to an analog station, the audio responds as expected. I have config set to local volume control and I have tried the registry key deletion trick to no effect. Sending audio S/PDIF out to my home theater receiver.

Any suggestions?

also, for the last week or so, I have not been able to view digital recordings.
the first skip forward knocks the sound more than 3 seconds off, and the second skip forward freezes the video.

I have not changed anything on the server for months.
I was thinking it might be the sortware decoder, but that also has not changed for some time.

I have been playing around with several different tools to create H264 encoded copies of my DVD's.

I think the best and easiest tool I have found is good old VLC.

What is a good bitrate to use.....I want good quality but don't need overkill. I have recorded a couple @ 1024bit with 192 bit MP4 audio.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether or not these are decent settings?

I've recently downloaded pvrx2 v1.2.9

when I try and

go up & down channels or exit when watching a live tv program, or

skip, ff, rw, pause, exit when watching a recording using my mouse I get no response at all.

I do not have a remote control - obviously the mouse works to click through the guide to get to the programs in the first place but after that no response.

I uninstalled my previous version of gbpvr before installing the new one as I had been having a lot of problems with it locking completely (and having to power off the PC.) It seemed to interact badly with my modem (it would cut off my internet connection after a short while of watching live tv) but according to system information all my drivers are the latest and working fine. I never got a message about a driver conflict. I also scan regularly for registry issues and fix any problems that occur.

Anyway, are there any settings I can change to be able to use my mouse in pvrx2? I have tried various options with the renderers and the decoders but am having no joy there. The buttons themselves, although not useable, only actually appear when I choose the 'overlay manager' option.

NetRadio running on a PC client seems to get the path for the Recordings Directory from config.xml on the server instead of the client, which can be a problem when using drive letters - I tried unc paths before, but that caused other problems (which I've long forgotten now)...

Have I missed something, or should I go back to unc paths...
