I have the Pinnacle PCTV HD PCI card and would like to get it working with GBPVR. I just want gbpvr to use the analog line in of the card though, no real TV, no program guide. I have a satellite dish with a set top box.

I have searched the forums here and the only thing I can see is that I have to setup EPG whether or not I want to use it. Is there a way to get GBPVR to just turn on the line in when I hit the "live TV" button?

If that won't work with this particular card, can someone suggest a USB or half height PCI solution that will work?

Sorry if this has been asked before - I use GBPVR on a server with a pair of hauppauge Nova-T based cards, using mainly the web interface to setup recordings.

I get my EPG data through the DVB option and usually its OK, but I'm occasionally missing some programme information on channels, its like the channel is there but random prorammes during the day are missing?

Having said that it may be I'm not getting that much EPG data ahead, I'm losing some channels completely out of the EPG, could this be solved by increasing the scanning time? Can't remember the exact name for it...

With the recent introduction of HD terrestrial in New Zealand I decided to build a HTPC. Been banging away on this for about a week now and no success in even see a program on the screen yet.

It seems according to the logs when I "map digital channels..." as it does the scan it detects something around channel 17 and when it tries to show this channel , that is when it hangs. (and other times it just hangs when initting).


It looks like my system doesn't support whatever VMR9 is ? (I'm a newbie to this if you haven't already guessed).

Any ideas of what I should install or tools I could use to identify what codecs/encoders I might be missing?

This is what I get when I try to run the UltraXmlTVManager application.I went to the xml file and then pressed the go button. Then the error pops up.
I'm a newbie so I don't know if I sent you the correct file. If not please advise. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I keep having this error in my recordings log. It looks like it's happening because of a multidec recording that doesn't get decrypted. But eventually it does, so the recording service doesn't stop, but my PCH can't play any files untill I restart the recording service (buffer screen never goes away). Any ideas?

After I convert a bunch of just recorded mpg's into avi's using scripts such as -stattik-'a auto encode script...

how can I update gbpvr's database to point to the new file and delete the old mpg? is there a script or something that will automize it too for all future recordings? thanks in advance for any help

I'm still learning about gbpvr.

I've now come across comskip and the multitude of ways it can be done!

It's been recommended to me by stattik to run comskip during the recording process.

But even this can be done either by gbpvr or parallelprocessing.

In gbpvr
Tab misc - tick autoskip commercials
Tab processing - select comskip and tick run during recording

In parallelprocessing
rename comskip's postprocessing.bat to parallelprocessing.bat
Also in gbpvr
Tab misc - untick autoskip commercials
Tab processing - commercial detection - None. Untick run during recording

I've got a wintv Nova-TD usb stick with dual tuners and sometimes I do record on two channels at the same time.
I've got amd 3800+ X2

Have I got the above setting correct?
Is there any difference between the two ways?
Would using parallelprocessing use two cores and gbpvr only one core?
Is there a better way to do this?

I've just installed 1.2.9 on a machine running win2000 with a dx8 video card and the klite codec pack installed. PVRX2 now works perfectly using overlay but I cant get iso files to play. I have daemontools installed and PVRX2 is mounting the image but it does not play anything back. It just exits to the main menu then displays a message saying the DVD player cannot display the sub picture. If I hit yes to continue I get a DVD player interface that looks as if its playing something but no image is displayed.

I'm lost, any ideas?

I'm considering hosting a website on my home machine but I'm ever conscious of making sure my firewall and web server are configured correctly.

Anyone know of any sites out there which offer a 'hacking' test? In other words, I visit the site and provide my domain name and it runs various security checks then produces a report of potential vulnerabilities etc.
