  Astounding MPG playback
Posted by: garymeds - 2008-03-26, 05:30 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (18)

As opposed to the very well read 'disappointing mpg decoding' thread on the support forum, I thought i'd share (and backup Wink) my recent config.

This has given me amazing playback both on live tv and recorded mpg's - avi's and mkv files also looks great, although these (i found) are not as difficult to perfect.

Hope this gives someone searching some help and also, if anyone can suggest any improvements (although picture is near perfect at the moment), please do.

Thanks

  Installation logging
Posted by: aslade - 2008-03-26, 03:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Where is there any logging for the install?

I'm upgrading from 99.12 to the latest version and have checked that dot.net is installed and vcredist_x86.zip

The installation bar goes all the way to the right but then reports "fatal error" and rolls back

I can't find a log in gbpvr folder nor the event viewer

Any ideas?

  default start live tv
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2008-03-26, 11:31 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

setting default startup behaviour to live tv under the new settings menu doesn't seem to do anything - is this a work in progress or am i missing something?
as an alternative I've tried the -direct "live tv" switch when starting up, but this seems to only initiate a buffered live, and not live preview mode - is this behaviour changable?

  Only using one core?
Posted by: allstarnz - 2008-03-26, 10:07 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

On a second PC, i have got GB-PVR running nicely enough except for one thing, it seems to be maxxing out one core while leaving the other totally unused. Anyone know why this is? Also, anyone know how I can make use of the second core?

I'm trying to watch NZ Freeview via DVB-T using a Hauppauge HVR900

OS: Windows XP SP2
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6300
Video Card: Radeon 9600

(this is my spare PC, so it's bitsy)

  WizUiList - Removing an Item
Posted by: Ommina - 2008-03-26, 06:17 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

One for JavaWiz:

Presumably I'm missing the obvious, but is there a way to remove an individual item from a populated WizUiList ?

So far I've tried various combinations of RemoveAt from the getItemList ArrayList (no effect), creating a new ArrayList and adding the ListItem one a time, then assigning the new list back to setList, but that didn't work either.

Any actions on the underlying ArrayList seemed to be ignored, while trying to assign a new list based on the old one gives me a list of "@text". Now, granted, it is the right number of @text lines, but still not quite what I was hoping to achieve.

I tried assigning null to setListItem, but that made it REALLY unhappy.

ClearSelected looked tempting, but only after trying it out did I realize that wasn't the meaning of Clear that I was looking for.

I'm sure I'm just missing something, but can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Archive and Convert skin error messages? Which Plugin?

Does anyone know which plugin the converter3 and ArchivePopupButtons errors belong to (and are they an issue?)

  QAM tuning troubles with HVR-1600
Posted by: JavaWiz - 2008-03-26, 02:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I've sent a note off to Hauppauge, but I thought I'd post here as well incase someone has any insight on what's going on:

-------------------------------------------

I picked up a HVR-1600 from Frys a few months back and have been quite pleased with both the analog and QAM tuners. Both the SD and HD channels scanned and worked great with the ATSC/QAM tuner.

Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, the ability to pickup the HD QAM channels stopped working. The SD channels on the QAM tuner seem to work fine. I attempted to re-scan thinking that maybe the cable company moved them, but no luck.

I also use GBPVR and tried it's scanner. No avail there either.

While trying to troubleshoot the problem, I made sure there was a good connection to the ATSC connection with my cable by removing and replacing the coax on the HVR-1600. Surprisingly, the channel came up when I connected the cable. I changed to another channel, and once again it would not tune. I disconnected, then reconnected the cable to the HVR-1600 and once again the channel came up.

At this point, the only way to get a HD QAM channel to come in, is to:
- Tune to the channel (it comes up with a blank screen)
- Unscrew the coax cable from the HVR-1600
- Re-attach the cable (while still tuned to the channel)
- As soon as a coax connection is re-made, the channel comes up.

When going thru this manual process for each HD channel change, consistently the channel comes up fine.

Thinking this had something to do with the cables, I've attached one of my TVs that has built-in QAM tuner, and it has no problems pulling up these same channels.

It looks like something has gone wrong with the HVR-1600. Any ideas?

Various Errors in Logs - any critical ones?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2008-03-26, 02:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi sub,

No biggie as most stuff seems to work (w.e.o stuff I have reported elsewhere) but there do seem to be a few errors in the logs. The one that concerns me most is the one about the Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Encoder pins, does this means one of my drivers or cards has a problem? If none of the others are an issue, no problem, just say "not an issue".

I'm not sure if some of these relate to the Xrecord plugin which I use daily, I'll post in the plugins forum for those.

Note that SOME I have sorted (in Excel) and extracted the errors to filter these out.
