I've got my system running but I can only get one tuner to work properly. I have a Pinecle HD Pro Stick USB which works fine and I also have a Vbox DTA 150 PCI card installed. I had it working previously but had some hardware problems (HD) and and to reinstall windows from scratch. When adding capture devices in the config app, if I click the show only connected device it will show up but the Vbox Cats Eye USB 3650 (USA-A 3560) which I have no idea why that would show up. Anyway, if I select the Cats Eye DTA 150 and try to map digital channels to the EPG it will lock up my system and I will have to reset it to get it working again. Sometimes it will even scan for a few channels first before it locks up. I will attach the log directory as well in case there is something in there.
I get this message in the system event log:

Now these may mean less to you than they do to me but just thought I'd give it a try.
Which file format has the best qualityize ratio? I don't necessarily need the smallest file size if the quality is going to completely suck. Right now I am using the xvid conversion and the quality leaves something to be desired. The file size is great! But I don't want to have a nearly unlimited storage space at the expense of feeling like I am watching a show that looks to be at 300x200 resolution.
Ok, this is a problem I have had before, fixed it, and I think when I either reinstalled the Firefly remote software or the GBPVR software, forgot what the problem was again.
GBPVR is set to convert all recordings to xvid overnight. BEFORE it converts, if I watch a show in GBPVR, everything regarding the remote seems to work fine. AFTER a show is converted to xvid, when using the remote, I can push a button many times before it does anything. OR, if I toggle from GBPVR to something else (IE, for example) once the show has already begun, then the remote seems to work fine. What do I need to do for the remote to work fine at all times? I've attached GBPVR.xml and Global.xml for your review.
Hello all, new here and just getting started. I am quite handy with computers, networking etc, but thought I would get some advice from here before I jump in. I have two routes I could likely go, use a dedicated box for my DVR, or use my main box to serve an MVP. BTW, I have standard analog cable channels 2-78. My goal is to be able to watch live TV with the ability to pause live TV/skip commercials while recording another show or two in the background while hopefully cutting out commercials there as well. Don't want much, do I!
Dedicated- CHANGED PART LIST! Intel MoBo with 865 chipset, P4 2.8Ghz, currently have 768MB DDR Ram but I know the more the better, with an AGP 32MB Nvidia GeForce2 with S Video out. I have one 40GB IDE drive I took from the old Dell, and two 120GB Ide drives for storage. No case yet, so I am going to look for a decent case that can sit in the living room without offending the wife!
Question 1: Is a 32MB Video card worth bothering with, or do I step up and get something better?
Question 2: I do not have an S Video input on my surround sound system or my TV, only the three RCA jacks that I believe are referenced as composite video? What would it take to convert the S Video output from the computer to composite video into my surround sound, and what will the quality be like on my standard analog old school TV?
Sharing Main Box: This is a homebrew, Gigabyte MoBo, 256MB GeForce 8500GT with S Video out, 2 GB DDR2 RAM and an AMD 4400 Dual Core 2.3Ghz CPU. I have 2 PCI slots open and 1 PCIe X1 slot open and an unused IDE 120GB drive I can slap in there. If SATA2 would be significantly better I can pick up a 500GB drive locally for around $125. This machine is in a different room than the TV, so I guess that I would need the MVP. I can run any CAT5e or COAX cables between the computer and the TV if this can prevent the use of the MVP, my only concern is what do I use for a remote control if the computer and TV are in different rooms? Is the MVP the best solution?
Question 1: The biggie here is how will runng GB PVR effect game performance of say Call of Duty 4 or other graphics intensive games?
Question 2: Can this computer still be used for other purposes while recording?
Sorry for the long post, but I am sure you folks have the answers! Thanks in advance!
i got GBPVR with KNC one DVB-C (new HW revision) with bda 1.7.4.6 from KNC to run.
My bda.ini addition:
[KNC One TV-Station DVB-C]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-C
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=KNC BDA DVB-C
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
My ini for kabel-bw in Germany(Not all channel yet due to speed up setup time. The important channels are there.):
I used the GBPVR web admin remote access very successfully last year while I was on vacation. I normally leave the web interface disabled to prevent hacking attempts but I'm about to go on a business trip so I enabled it again. However, I've just noticed that GBPVR doesn't ask me for any login details any more - it just lets anyone connect and have complete control!
I had the same user name and password set up so I thought it could be a cached password issue but changing it doesn't fix the problem.
The only thing that has changed since last year is that I've upgraded to v1.1.5. I've just updated the EWA version, but the problem is still there.
Always seems to happen when I sit down with the kids :confused:
Always seems to be watching Mpegs recorded by GBPVR I took a look in the logs and it always seems to be
2008-03-01 08:05:20.750 VERBOSE [6] MVP waiting for data
2008-03-01 08:05:22.328 VERBOSE [6] MVP connection is gone.
in MVP-PVRX2.exe.log and/or
2008-03-01 07:48:48.609 VERBOSE [6] incremental frame sent
2008-03-01 07:48:48.609 VERBOSE [6] MVP data taking too long, connection must have been dropped!
which is in MVP-PVRX2.exe-1.log
Most of the other stuff that GBPVR does (Live TV and transcoding) works flawlessly
I don't have any other network problems but I realise that TCP-IP is designed to circumvent "hiccups" in the connection.
Basically PVRX2 crashes and normally "Restart Recording Service" gets it going again
I have tried re-installing everything from scratch and all the different dongles, I am now using the normal hauppauge dongle for MVP.
I have tried updating the firmware on my Router (Linksys WRT54GC)
Could it possibly be a dodgy RJ-11 connector, I had a few problems setting up the network in the first place, but all other connections work 100%
With the old NetRadio on GBPVR the current track playing used to display on the screen but that doesn't appear in the latest PVRX2.
I know Sub only recently got Net Radio back into PVRX2. Just wondered if this feature is something missing from the skins or functionality that's not yet implemented in PVRX2?
